Had for 15yrs now and its very painful one time it was hurting real bad I came in the house all the lights wad off I was walking toward the kitchen and ran right into the Sharp end of our glass table it hurt so bad I couldn't even scream.
I got that same thing I had since like 12 I'm 22 but I still play basketball and be dunk N and all but it hurt like hell when I bump knees with somebody
i developed os around the age of 12 and have had problems ever since and im now 36. i recently began running again and i am ain a lot of pain, anyone else out there had similar experience and had their lump removed?
Iv had this for five years now. I used to complain about it to my parents untill finally they took me to a doctor, he had me do physical therapy for 6 months...i was supposes to do a bunch of excersises, but i was in fourth grade, i have ADD and back then i had the attention span of a squirrel....i couldnt sit there for 15 min doing a bunch of boring excersises....now im 14 and still cant kneel correctly.....sux balls
My son Payton has Osgood-Schlatter Disease at age 8 or 9 years old and its been bothering him since and he is now 12 and he wears something on his knee that helps the bone underneath the knee not try to attach to the knee so he can do sports.
yes i have this too! i never had it when i was younger, but it came about when i was around 11-12 and i was playing rudgy league and i landed on my knee one time and it hurt very badly.

im 24 now and had OS growing up. I had a badddd impact on the right knee causing it to swell. Even now, it is so huge, that i cant even kneel down straight.
i have this, on my situacion hurts very bad because i do sprint and i make very strong impacts on the ground anyone that have the same problem and do the same sport have something for run better and get less pain? :)
Geeze, your lump is not that big. I got OS and it must be about 4x what you have. It protrudes about 1" standing!!! Also, all you kids with this problem. (I had it since 15...got worse later in life from exercise). THIS IS NO TEMPORARY SWELLING OF THE BONE!!! Bone does not swell back down. There is no freakin cure for this. If you are lucky to still be growing at this point, the rest of your knees will grow bigger and possibly match the ugly OS bump on your tibia. I sympathize youall.
guys please wot ever you do do not go on the trampoline ive had shlatters for a year now today i was on my trampoline i went down and my knee cracked and now its 5x worse than it was before :(
HI, I am 26 yaers old, I felt the pain on my left knee about 12 yaers ago, but my leg always gets tire at the and of the day, is there any surgery I can take?? I don't want to be like this anymore, I need a cure to have a normal knees, Thks.
@juan10529 I'm twelve and I have OS. I have already finished growing ( very awkward), and my track coach had OS until she had corrective surgery. They cut out her extra bone until there was just enough to fit the bone into the joint. I have no clue if that will help me, but right now I just use ice and knee straps that I got from walmart. It's from Mueller and on the pack it says for tendonitis and jumper's disease which is OS. They are the most helpful thing I have found.
i just turned 16 and i have it. i was looking forward to working out this summer for my senior basketball season next year. What is the best thing i can do to help it besides ice, which i try to do every day. are there exercises that work better than others?
I'm 18 and suffer from symptoms of Osgood Schlatter's. I also have knee alignment issues(tight IT band, hamstarings, hip flexors; etc.) I play basketball very often and frequently strength train. If there were any place I should start, what should it be. Should I be more focused on stretching, strengthening muscles, or my mechanics? Any help will be appreciated.
There's a good exercice for the IT band, take a solid foam cylinder and lay on your side with it under your thigh (where your IT band is) and roll up and down on it. It is very painful but streches very well the IT band. do this once to twice daily for 2-3min each legs to get a good stretch.
im 32 and still have it, started when was 13, and played football from 8 to 16 years old....im now 32 and still hurts, its damn painfull specialy winter time..
i have this shit too... does it go away my doctor sayd wehn i was 13 or so it goes away wehn you are 16 now i'm 15 and in one month im 16 :P... and its not getting better
okay here's a question, i'm 22!!!! and I still have this shit....i've had it since geez I don't remember when, at 6th grade?? maybe earlier. It's STILL not gone away, what can I do?? my knees feel like they're going to crap out on me, i'm in decent shape, I have an athletic body type, runners heart, everything else is GREAT!!! but my knees...sometimes I can barely get back up from squatting....anyone have any ideas? cause I could definetly use them
@AyKay47 Im 27 man and ave still got the lump, if i kick a ball my big toe goes dead whilst the other ones still point up! disguisting aswell, I had it when I was 16 really bad couldnt walk etc, and the physios said doing things like squats and them type of movements was the best way forward, the pain will go away, but you always ave tha bone over ya knee, and the only way around it is surgury, apart from kicking a ball i dont have any problems, and i train mma and muay thai, hope that helps ya
I am 14 and found out just a couple of months ago and I had it with me left and right but it didn't hurt unless u touched it and now the left one has gone down heaps and doesn't hurt but my right knee is bigger than my knee cap like 3x the size of the one in the video and it hurts when I walk and I wear a knee brace every day at school because everyone hits it and my doctor said there is nothing i can do to make it go away and he said it would last me 2 years.
@aussiekangaroo123 He's right, it will take a while. Since you are only 14, you are still growing rapidly so rest is the best way to deal with it, you can also apply ice to help with inflammation.
@aussiekangaroo123 I had it and it was extremely bad and i could not walk some days. I was desperate for a cure (like you) and then i started taking advil twice a day. Once before activities and once before bed. Also ice it alot. This made my osgood schlatters go away within like 3 weeks. Also, resting it will not make it go away so dont waste your time.
I found out i had OS about a year ago after years of complaining. I got OS before most develop it and my doctor said it will go away but it hasn't. There were some days that I would have to use crutches because of the pain. I would also sprain my ankles constantly because of the jostling of the bone. The best things I have found are Mueller's straps or knee braces. I use the straps more than the braces though.
If you are still a kids take realy care of it if you don't want the bump under your knee become bigger and bigger.
I dicover it when i was 15 and it was because i actualy scratch my knee in doing skateboard and my tendon scratch my tibiale bone my knee was huge after ,that so now i have a big bump under my right knee.
And a smaller one but still a bump under my left knee.
I tell you doctor don't even know it.
If you are a kids and you just discover it take care and stop everythings
Your bump is a little bump compare to mine. You got it when you are a kid but if you dont take care the injury never recover properly and you can have an huge bump under you knee like me i got 2 big bump on my knees bigger than his bump.
i have this. My bump on my knee its so huge and gross looking.
