  • "You said love is a hell you cannot bear. I said give me mine back and then go there for all I care."

  • Davvero è noioso vedere tutte quelle canzoni in cui la ragazza insulta il suo ex - ma Fiona, cavolo, lo rende sempre in una maniera unica e terribilmente superba!

  • 25 people dont sleep to dream

  • midair refuel denied.

  • I always loved this song so much better than Criminal, wish it had gotten more airtime.

  • She's not only talented; but she has an uncanny sex appeal!

  • "You say love is a hell you cannot bear, I say then give me mine back and then go there" best line ever.

  • @MsPingu112 yup, you got that right, I love that line! So funny!

  • Who says she's too skinny? She's just the right amount of skinny!

  • @mattymath1 She used to have an eating disorder

  • @mattymath1 eew.....no

  • it took me forever to sing this song as fast as she does. :)

  • This is life in Lindsay Lohans's mind...

  • I sleep for dreams and get nightmares.

  • Oh fuck no that ad looked creepy so i scrolled down then right when i scrolled up the scary face popped up ugh! This song is great though.

  • Ahhhh amazing. I love her soooo much.

  • liked her so much better than Alanis....

  • When this song came out I remember singing the words to this song with such passion and gusto.....in the 7th grade! It's like WTH did I know about love(or hate) and relationships then?lol

  • fiona apple can teleport

  • @ManTheRampartsBaby hahahahahahahah

  • I really like that wallpaper 3:15

OK, and the song is pretty great too :-)

  • #freefiona

  • absolutely fucking stunning.

  • i cant stand this weird-ass chick, too many issues to go into, but i gotta say, i'll admit it; this song is sooooo damn wicked.

  • I lived in Bennington when I saw this Fiona Apple vid the first time.

  • fiona i love u and ur music! wish i could see u live

  • I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a little creepy, but it gives that vibe. Pandora found this for me, stuck in my head now...

  • Thin and disturbed with a sultry voice. Just my style.

  • shes like shes on shooooooms

  • where are the women like her...i need a chick that sings

  • beautiful

  • Comment removed

  • she is so beautifullllllllll.

  • Talented pianist and vocalist, but goes to show you what meth will do to the body.

  • @Kate87Dawg It shows you what depression and self-loathing will do to the body.

  • @Kate87Dawg you are an idiot!

  • @cade1466 Right back at ya!

  • hahahah lol good song ;) -969D

  • Her lyrics are captivating, and her music consumes you. I've loved Fiona all my life, and was just a wee teen when she hit big, and it's sad because music today blatenly sucks there's nothing comparable, her origiality is so blissful and I will forever be a true fan. Hats of to Fiona!

  • Love this song.....she really has such a unique voice....I love her cover of "Across the Universe" but really anything by her is pretty awesome.

  • Omg! i luv this song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @trollololo ...Well, you ain't Fiona Apple, and if you ain't Fiona Apple, I don't give a rat's ass.

  • she is one of my fav artist. love all her songs

  • this video is bout her rape at age 12 in manhattan by a total stranger u people ...look it up on wikipedia... wow enjoy her talent... she is sendin a message here...

  • @cuty4allan Apple was raped at the age of 12, a trauma she would later allude to in songs such as "Sullen Girl" (taken from wikipedia)

ps wikipedia can be and has been edited by the general public. Not everything posted is correct.

  • @TerraTV I don't know how accurate wikipedia is on things. Yet, I do know she was raped because she did verify it happened.

  • Love Fiona...haunting music and voice...thanks for posting her music...lost my cd many years ago!!

  • FUCK YOU RIHANNA

  • Sounds like Marylin Manson

  • There is a lot of great music out there today. You just have to look for it. Anyway, Fiona is great.

  • Ya, "Hell to "raise"?? Hell to pay would have been a much better lyric.

  • @JenLynnBucci83 "Hell to raise" and "Hell to pay" are two different things.

  • @JenLynnBucci83 Huh?!?! No way. She's got her own hell to raise. Meaning she's out raising hell and doing her own thing without the douchebag. "I've got my own hell to pay" would imply she's done something wrong as well. He's the one who's got hell to pay...not her.

  • @JenLynnBucci83 Yeah, that wouldn't make sense. If she said hell to pay, that would insinuate that she's done something wrong. Hell to raise makes more sense, hence it's a perfect song the way it is.

  • Fiona Apple is uncomparable to anyone...please do not compare her....the most beautiful aspect of her artistry is her originality, the thought that someone as talented as her exists.

  • @EMABand1 Fiona's eye crusts are actually diamonds. In Canada, she peed on a dude with cancer,,BANG,, no more ball cancer. Amazing

  • @bradaboots Ha!

  • I WANNA BE HERRRRRRR

  • Fiona we need your music more than anything right now !! please save us from mainstream bullshit

  • I GOT MY OWN HELL 2 RAISE.

  • I just turned off the music and dug the visuals. Love her obsession with wood panelling!

  • I kinda labeled her the new Alanis Morrissette back when this song first came out.

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • This lady is untouchable

  • I hate to say this in the wake of her death, but Amy Winehouse didn't hold a candle to Fiona in terms of writing/singing and just confronting the depths of her life...

  • @blueskimo10 Amy was an amazing lyricist. There's a reason she was lauded with five Grammys and three Ivor Novello Awards for her songwriting and vocals. Both artists have amazing voices and are different from each other. Comparing them vocally is like comparing apples to oranges. What they did have in common, was that they both sang/wrote with honesty and depth.

Both lived completely distinct lives and had different events happen to them. Their confrontation depended on their circumstances.

  • @MuNk33MaN Well, I'm comparing them... because they are singers and are comparable.

Thanks for the long-winded, useless explanation. I think one is better than the other... I'm entitled to that opinion... so shut your mouth, nerd.

  • @blueskimo10 Hahaha

  • Will she ever release another album?

  • shes disturbing to watch, it sounds better when I close my eyes

  • amazing!!

  • @lefteyenafurani

That is very true! I remember, and I have never liked Shakira... but around the same time this song came out, so did Shakira´s first album. In Latin America, she was huge, her songs had meaningful lyrics and she had her natural dark hair. She would make pop rock protesting feminists songs, play her acoustic guitar and say smart things when interviewed. Once she said she hated all those sold out pop singers who instead of singing would be... like she is now... Go figure.

  • This is definitely not background music-try as I might to listen to it while I study :)

  • This is my go to song along with some of her others to just get all the emotion out. She knows how to make a wonderful, meaningful song like few others.

  • I love how obvious it is that this video was made in the 90's.

  • 19 people sleep to dream

  • Yeah she pretty much is a lyrical genius.

  • The song and video that introduced Fiona to the world back in '96. She had me at the first syllable of her lyric.

  • fuck these ads and fuck you vevo

  • Astonishing Fiona Apple... Love her...

  • I want to just like the song, lyrics, etc... and I really do... but the eye candy... the smoldering sexiness of her is almost unbearable... I am sure if I told her that she would probably tell me to go F*** myself... and I would love her even more for that.

  • NDNchief says. . . FAPfapFAPfapFAPfapFAPfap

  • @davidWgruUP909 she is a trerble sunger

  • @bagpipersam

and you are terrible at typing

  • @bagpipersam The only reason you insult her amazing music is because you are ashamed that your entire life everyone told you that your voice is shit and that you can't sing any better than a goat.

  • @bagpipersam Haha... what? No, she is not. She has a unque style, and she's very good.

  • Would hate to divert you from the original but please give my own interpretation of this song a listen. i would much appreciate it. Many Thanks :)

  • it's fun to sing to this song, love the lyrics.

  • @lefteyenafurani Well hopefully she will stay this way and get into very Mainstream stuff. She is hot in my opinion too.

  • @lefteyenafurani Yes I agree. I know this is an old comment. But I find when people go mainstream or big they become corrupted and Sell outs. Fiona Apple is very talented. ''When the pawn hits'' Amazing album all through to the end. She seems to be contented with a more lower and intimate Audience. I met her a couple of times and damn she is very nice but a bit shy lol. It all good and think she sometimes don't think she is all that talented she is pretty humble about it.

  • If Playboy magazine ask me for my definition of "SEXY" as they did with very famous people, I would inmediately say: FIONA APPLE.

  • @ronyorellana226 Hell yeah. I do think she is hot her eyes are so smoky and sexy looking.

  • i love the anger fiona sings this song with, ahhh, i love it so much

  • Ive been listening to her albums for aaaaaages... and only just started watching all these videos!!!!! love it! she wasnt popular enough to make it to nz, but still I'm glad she's kinda lesser known, makes her even cooler.

  • love fiona apple

  • candycakesable tits and ass lol she really doesnt have either but damn good songs attraction enough 8)

  • i love fionas music odee she can singg

  • Is she high?

  • :U This was made the year I was born... O_O

  • @animemewmew7 anime kids these days -.-

  • @MrJuancarlosferrero Its not my fault :3

  • @animemewmew7 >: /

  • Well the only girls that get payed any attention in music now are the ones who show their tits and ass! Sad but true!

  • there are still artists today, they just dont get recognized, its unfortunate and says a lot about these times.

  • @310taylor : Have you ever seen the movie "Idiocracy"? That's about where we are at now!

  • Not all is crap, just a vast majority...its like movies now. Yes they are flashy or catchy and have good effects and in that sense can be entertaining but that isn't really a good movie so much as visually pleasing. The same can be said about today's music, it can be catchy or have you moving but it is just ear candy to get you to move. Too many movies and music lack that story they used to have back when your attention was being distracted as much by all the pretty colors and synthesis.

  • Hey I think the Black Keys used this beat in one of their songs!

  • Radiant as a true star you are

  • "First you run like a fool just to be at my side, and now you run like a fool but you just run to hide, I can't abide"

    Good stuff.

  • yooo this was my shit when i broke up with my bf !

  • i love her so much

  • I was their!!! I remember this!!!! Love them 90's. Always...Pure nostalgia now.

  • where DID she go? Anybody know what happened to her? Kind of like Alana Davis... made some great music, then poof - gone. Where are they?

  • @aces551 She didn't kiss the asses of the record industry so she was kicked to the curbside. She stood up to them and told them they were bullshit and they didn't like that. But she will come back. Wait and see. Genius cannot be silenced.

  • The Greatest Song Ever! I Don't Give A Fuck! - Keon Torres aka I Make M.U.S.I.C. Too

  • fucking beautiful.

  • Where the HELL did she go......... I love her

  • @MsJennii28 she is living her life. go live yours.

  • i sleep to dream:)!!!

  • she mesmerizes me!!! so sexy, the voice, her passion...WOW.

  • I love it<3 I'm feeling this song so much!! I love the lyrics! Gonna be listen it to it all day long! :D

  • she looks younger than her voice :)

  • Genia total...bella por donde la mires!!

  • thats the best they can doo? sw

  • like a good wine, her voice got better with age. it's gotten progressively deeper and more powerful as the years went on. she sounded especially powerful during the When the Pawn era. i miss this woman

  • that bass line kills me.

  • I remember watching this the day it debuted on MTV. From within the first few notes, I knew I'd love it and it's still one of my favorite albums I own to this day

  • What a voice!

  • What I love about her is that her songs are about mean, not just something that sounds like something the masses will like, not something that is sexual or party oriented so she can be cool. They have meaning to her, and she has the voice and music to bring it all together.

  • This song,..says the words you wish you could voice..

  • these 2000 babies don't even know about this! She's is the queen of 90's! still love her

  • Maybe My Favorite Song She Did. Tied With 'Fast As You Can'. Gets Me In My Strong Crazy Bad Girl Mood.

  • what the hell happened to music like this? Todays music is SHIT, thumbs up if you agree

  • @JS8700 F**k you. We still have good stuff in the underground. We don't remember but in 1998 in America Britney Spears 13 million albums more than Fiona just because she was on the TV and the radio more than Fiona then because she was newer. Stop bitching about commercial music and search for something new you like and you'll find more than a few bands. You are on Youtube for crying out loud and so is every other band in the whole damn world.

  • @drewbobski hell yeah!!

  • @JS8700 Today's music is shit. SAD. I want the 90's back. I want my youth. The world is retarded with these damned reality bullshit shows.

  • @JS8700 No shit. Today its all about partying and getting laid and gay ass crap that will only last another year. Music like this was what made MTV and now its gone. THe new crap is plaguing MTV and the lifestyles of American people. Artists don't write about life anymore. No stories or anything with meaning. Just PARTY. Whatev. I know where my music appreciation lies.

  • @JJTURCHECK I totally agree with you, that's why I only listen to a handful of true artists that are getting older which is scary, artists and musicians like Maynard James Keenan from TOOL, A Perfect Circle & PUSCIFER - Trent Reznor from NINE INCH NAILS & HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS, Corey Taylor from SLIPKNOT & STONESOUR, Jon Davis from KORN and Chester from LINKIN PARK, and CARINA ROUND who sings on the new Puscifer album. They do it for the ART & PASSION, not for the money......MUSIC IS DYING!!!!!

  • @SHAWNWILD1 You sir are wise. Maynard is amazing.

  • @JJTURCHECK In the 80's it was all about metal, even though glam dominated it.

  • @JJTURCHECK Just to clarify, I'm a grown man that doesn't watch mtv...

  • @JS8700 Pretty obvious you don't listen to a whole lot of music. Mainstram music has always been disposable. Dig a little deeper and you'll see that modern music has far more to offer than ever.

  • @JS8700 She was given the complete green light when she was discovered. Then she took a break - (she had said all she needed to say at that time & refused to just put out anything out). When she had something new to say - they tried to control every song & make her more mainstream - she stuck to her principles.

  • @Magichappens89 remember her speech at the grammys?

  • @Democracide Do you mean the reference she made to Maya Angelou & that this world is bullshit? That was epic! I love her integrity.

  • @Magichappens89 yeah that :D

  • @JS8700 Ugh... Just because good music isn't on tv? You just don't know where to look.

  • @JS8700,

I don't think your comment deserves a single thumb in neither direction. Your primitive view on art/music history is outdated since Alois Siegl's work found appreciation and equals people's opinion in renaissance times. It is to a - modern standard of criticising art and music - worthless.

It's nonsense to define a whole era of art and music as SHIT, and even if I love Fiona Apple's music, I think you should try to find other ways of expressing your appreciation.

  • duude everything in this video is like how i felt on acid hahaha.. DAMN.

THANKS A LOT.

  • poor girl. you just wanna hug her and make her feel better, dont ya? like alanis morissette.

  • Yeah....still love this CD...still love this song....

Fiona Apple- WAY better than chicks like Alicia Keys will ever be....

  • @SinSynn out of all the terrible female artist out here right now you mention Alicia Keys? Get your priorities straight.

  • @PlanetofIce35 You know what?

    You're RIGHT!

There are a ton of hideous female pop acts out there.....

I'm sorry I used Alicia Keys as an example (surely Lady Gaga or Britney Spears are WAY WORSE), but I kinda meant it in the 'Female Singer With Piano' way, if you know what I mean.

I don't think Britney would approach a piano, or could ever actually write a song.

I apologise for not picking a more appropriate artist to make fun of!

    Alicia IS pretty awful though....

  • this is good!

  • Back when songs were amazing. And videos relied on the singer to get the story across instead of a movie production. Love Fiona!

  • How does that voice come from that body? She has such a rich voice, it's amazing!

  • This tune is freaking awesome! Well done, Fiona!!

  • Fiona Apple is the most amazing female vocalist, hands down. I would give my life to have her sing a duet with me on my show.

  • I remember the 1st time I heard Fiona and watched Criminal. The guy I was dating at the time pointed her out on MTV back when they played videos in 1996. I fell in love with her voice then and today I still listen to this CD and it's one of my favorites!!!

  • There's one more
