  • Great idea. If you have circular with adjustable cutting angle, cut on a 45 degree angle. Less bump on the way up.

  • I like this video! Cheap and you don't end up payings $200 for ramps!

Downfall is they are heavy. I took what you did and SLIGHTLY modified it. I took a 1/2" wood boring bit and drilled holes into the wood. Mind you it doesn't structurally change it because I didn't make them look like swiss cheese but doing so to each board DOES lighten them considerably. I will try and post a follow up video. Much easier to handle and move. My wife can even pick them up now.

    Great vid!

  • Personally, I would have mitred the edges of each board to give the tyre a sloping edge to hit rather than a square edge

  • these are great. I made similar set for my Mustang. I had the Rhino ramps, I don't care what they are rated for, the damn things are hollow in the middle and they still flex some - to hell with that, I'm not crawling under the car with hollow ramps. But dude...invest $40 in a Skil saw and a square and you've got perfectly straight cuts...not that it really matters.

  • you don't need pilot hole for nails dumbass, looks like a four yr old drew your logo

  • @Drewdogg18

Dude why are you all so condescending? Hummm probably just mad the world

  • or u can get a set for 50 bucks

  • @LutMejiaJ

You must drive a Corolla or Hyundai. I drive a Porsche and a ramp like this for my car is the $200 area. Now you are probably wondering, why so much......It's because these high performance cars are super low to the ground. I use a Blitz set that I got for $28 at Advance Autoparts on my SUV, but will not work on my Porsche.

  • @papichulo110029 ask me if i give a fuck. i drive a honda

  • Good video, been thinking about the same project and was hoping to find someone whod already tested it out. One thing though, for the love of god dont use a camera while your using powertools!

  • Nice ramps men i did my oil change on my Z today on my home made ramps

  • Would the camera happen to be on your head, cause it's sure dizzy watching it. You may want to buy a tripot for a steady video.

  • Hi brother needs to chat a, Asian women busizz4me.info

  • mmm nice car

  • Thumbs up for the sharpie corvette logo

  • now make it look pro, spray paint it black! LOL I was thinking how to build ramps myself...with wood...similar to "production" plastic ramps....wood splits...so I'm doing this as well. Wood is great in compression, this way I'm not worried about being CRUSHED lol

  • @soccerpeve

If you look at the sidebar of related videos I have videos up of succesfully using these to change my oil and Transmission fluid. Car didn't fall on me I'm still alive!

I can spray paint it black better not post that on Youtube! Rhino Ramps might sue me for copyright =P

  • @JohnFromSpace how long was each board?

  • you could also ramp those edges with a 90 degree cut. makes the climb easier...

  • @skynet000001 .....yeah, I used my table saw to cut the boards at 45 degrees actually. (that might be what you meant haha) I have a C6 vette now and use these ramps, previously it was for the viper which was slightly lower...I just screwed my boards together lol. (downward, away from the tire!)

  • Your first vid should have been "an intro to my vette" Your idea is very good but here's a little tip. don't use nails. get yourself a square bit and a box of 3" deck screws. You won't have to drill pilot holes. nominal thickness is 2". actual thickness is 1-1/2". Good idea, solves the problem easily!

  • @Lawmtho

Thanks for the added insight! This is definately one of those things I can make better if I did it again. Not so much the quality but I should of made that first board longer and I shoud of cut an angle on each board.

  • @JohnFromSpace if you used long screws you wouldent need the glue

just put 2 screws every 12 inches or so

  • Nicely done, John! :) Jack

  • @raconter1

This has to be one of my favorite videos that I've made here on youtube. The best part is some of the funny comments on here. People can relate to it, not all of are rich and the type of people who like videos like this are the people I enjoy talking to most!

  • That's a lot of work, heavy and takes up a lot of space.

You could get a pair of jack stands for $20 from HR and save money.

  • @johnlvs2run

I had to build the ramps because I couldnt get my floor jack under the car to begin with

  • @JohnFromSpace ohh i see... i meant to say HF.

  • @johnlvs2run lol some of us can't get jacks under the car :(

  • @GimliG35

yeah and the jack points in long hooded cars are way too long for most jacks to reach if you can clear the jack

  • not knocking you or anything, but any lumber that is a 2X4 or 2X10 in your case, is actually only an inch and a half thick, so thats only a six inch jack.

  • @GitRdone3454

You know I actually never measured it =P

It is enough to get under the car and change the oil though.

  • why not just buy a floor jack? :D

  • @paradoxdesigns

Cars way to low, I tried it =P

  • you do everything with one hand haha.

  • @knockoutmaniac

It's a great talent to have in many situations in life =P

  • You went past the tape !!!!!

    ahhhhh

  • @MrMarsBar13

    Doh!

  • if you have a shit car you can poop on it !!!!!

  • A little bit to much talking about other stuff not related to what you were building which was a little frustrating. But this IS A REALLY COOL IDEA and im going to make some the same. Its simple and yet very smart

  • @S1KRYD

I dont script these I just say what comes naturally. Some youtube partners like Shane Dawson get a premade script from youtube, I dont =P

  • The Corvette logo you made really brought it home! lol

    Good job man!

  • @autopsysoldier

Thanks man I'm glad someone enjoyed my masterfully crafted logo =P

  • @JohnFromSpace You should make more tutorial videos...about anything, it doesn't matter what...making a burger....setting up a satellite dish on the side of your house...as long as they're in first person view and your commenting the whole time it should be great!

  • @autopsysoldier

Thanks for the kind words bud I'm happy to know some people enjoy my rambling.

  • your hand writing is horrendous

  • @CBH

Yeah its pretty much the same hand writting I had in Kindergarten. It's amazing I have a job =)

  • Dudes, jump in your own risk, first when you jump, you will think, should i jump? then when your in air you think: ok i shouldn't have, then when crashing in ground you will think ' i should have listen to the thinking when i was about to jump XD, so jump in your own risk you don't get scared in air but when you touch the ground thats the risk begins , the tiers pop,( if weak) the front hood goes up and the glass brake ( if it is loose) it may happen , not always, if your car is stronger.

  • You can try to put juts a small 1 inch board in front of the ramps and that way your spoiler wont touch the ramp

  • You are the HEAT! I can't wait to make me a set. Thanks and keep making Great Videos.

  • Glad your enjoying my videos, this is how Corvette people on a budget do it =)

  • middles class people are awesome because we have to find innovative ways to do something that a rich person has to pay for and we know more about problems that may affect us

    Nice video

  • Thanks for the compliment bud

Middle class people are just down to earth and they can relate.

Take a car like a Corvette, pricey when new but if you get one in the used market a regular hard working guy like myself can have one and those are the Vette owners I enjoy talking to. People who earn their things tend to be the most passionate people around and they really love their cars and its just not a tool to look cool.

  • "If you got a Viper and you wanna put VTEC on it, that's your decision..." Hilarious! I actually LOLed at that. Awesome Corvette BTW. True, you can pick up a used Vette for about the same as a new Si or GTi, but how much is the insurance gonna be? Mine is sky high and my car does 0-60 in 8 sec on a good day.

  • what about 4800 pound minivans lol..

  • The nice thing is you can just crawl under those =) If your heart is set on driving it on ramps though all you have to do is drive over to pep boys and buy some and you wont look like a weirdo with 700 pound wooden ramps in your garage =P

  • lol
