  • it actually has sold more than the original iphone

  • There are already a couple of phones that can club the iPhone to death.. This Nokia is a late arrival at the party..

IMHO the iPhone is so popular only because Steve Jobs is a freakin' marketing mastermind. He could sell sh*t on a stick and people would stand in line 3 days to get it.

  • Is it true if u drop an iPhone it'll be very hard to fix & repair ? Tork abt a lot of money !!! =/

  • im willing to sleep with someone for an iphone!!!

  • @ballsack978 pls don't

  • dont buy it, its rubbish. youll hate it

  • everything is cheaper in other countries.

  • I think this is how it's in the states from what the forum guys are saying:

    iPhone 3GS (locked) = $200

    5800 (locked) = Free

So you guys are actually comparing a locked iPhone to an openline 5800 =P

  • I think you guys are mixing unlocked with openline. This is how it's priced in my area.

    Openline/Unbranded

    iPhone 3GS=$1000

    5800 = $270

    Locked/Subscribed (24 months)

    iPhone 3GS=Free at $104/month subscription

    5800=Free at $37/month subscription

We don't have unlimited data plans btw.

  • =s the hell

    iphone 3gs is for 200$

    5800 300$

iphone is a nice rip off, k!

  • completely wrong :)

    IPhone 3GS for $500

    5800 for $250

  • Well technically Nokia already sells more smartphones than Apple. But as far as hardware goes I think the Palm Pre is the first real iPhone killer.

  • All other devices get software update too, you know. Anyways, you are talking about the future now, while we are complaining about presence.

  • who gives a fuck about your iphone or 5800. come up with an argument instead of "you suck, wanker"

  • lol

  • I have a Nokia 5800 and i like it a lot.

a iphone is a good mobile and has a very good touchschreen but that is it.

no bluethooth, no copy and paste etc.

the nokia has al the good stuff only the touch schreen is 2 clicks and the iphone 1 click.

Well i really dont care if i must click 1 time or 2 times so i think that the nokia 5800 is the better mobile then the iphone.

  • It's getting both Bluetooth and Copy and Paste.

  • IPHONE SUX

  • zeldalink, please clarify me, how no other touch-screen phone "has come even near to iphone?" iPhone sucks, and that is a fact.

  • Because the iPhone can do so many more things a normal phone can't.

  • A normal phone can do even more things an iPhone can't.

  • Like what? MMS? It's getting that. Voice memo? It's getting that. Text forwarding? It's getting that. Look up iPhone 3.0 Software. It's confirmed.

  • and you get this only now???

    ooooooooh

  • Yes. I know Apple's late on it. But now there's nothing to hate on the iPhone about now. So in your face.

  • Yeah except for it's overratedness.... Almost everyone owns one even here in the Philippines, plus the chinese.... they have an iPhone and guess what.... it looks exactly like it. No chinese a hole has ever copied a Nokia's design completely besides the damned name....

    So back at ya...

  • its superb camera?

  • And Cut, Copy and Paste and Stero bluetooth AND video recording.

  • can an IPhone Take sharp 8 Megapixel photos like LG Renoir can ???

    NOOOO

  • there both the same technicaly

  • almost every touch screen phone is better than iphone. but they just don't have multitouch

  • No. iPhones = White Noise Machine, Carpentry Tools, Dictionary, etc.

  • You suck...wanker

  • im expecting this to arrive tomorrow, si hopefully when i get back from school there will be a package waiting for me :D,

this isnt like the tube cause its the first design idea.

anyway. i tihnk it pwns the iphone

  • this killed iphone

  • wtf is that ? this is not tube

  • this is old version

  • the tube does not loook like this. I have it and the ui is much less slick...:(

  • iphone killer i must say

  • what's nokia 5800 tube? :S i mean, what tube is? is it a differnet version of this phone or it's just a name/adjective?

  • wtf is that phone?

its defenately not the 5800 cuz i have it

  • How do you have one when its not released until the 23rd?

  • i got it from dubai

it was realesed ther 3 weeks ago

  • Aah i see, is it any good? i have one on pre order.

  • what's the front camera's specs?

  • this is not the tube!

  • yep, because there aren't teh 3 buttons on the bottom and no second camera for videocalls.

  • There is a second camera.

  • i know this phone is bluetooth capable, but hows the compatability with non-nokia bluetooth headphones, and whats the battery life with headphones plugged in when the music is on. its a music phone, so I'd like to know that please, if anyone does.

  • Compatibility with non Nokia bluetooth headphones is as with previous devices , and battery life with music playback with headphones is amongst the highest available.

  • actually there is a second camera for video call

  • Ei muuten vitussa toimi noin sähäkästi toi kuvan kääntö ja kuvien selaus :D Vittu mitä kusetusta

  • Nokia 8 megapixel iphone killer

  • in this video the phone develops much faster than in other reviews. I wonder if that's because this is the last edition?

  • that's the same phone used in the dark knight :)

  • Oh my god and it's going to have FLASH PLAYER already installed in it on the web browser !! yayy!

  • yea agree

  • It's better than an iphone in many respects, and it's still only a mid range phone... Imagine what the next in the N series will be like!

  • DAM agree that nokia copied iphone everything games, application, style, change the screen when rotate the screen..copy but nokia price is better than iphone price anyways always get the original one which is iphone

  • the nokia has a lor better features but it just copied the iPhone way too hard

  • Um, so yeah. The iphone took the basic concept of a pda or palm pilot for its system. The accelerometer games came from the Wii. And the screen rotating function actually came from digital cameras a few years ago. Nothing is new, this phone didn't STEAL anything from iphone.

  • What the hell does that mean?

  • The OSX software is the heart of the iPhone ... nobody (samsung lg nokia) can't do the same operating system yet! so iPhone is still the best ...

  • you mean the iPhone is still the worst

  • that is better than iphone. only loose on design....

  • haha..apple iphone is still the best..the idea was there..

  • Lol the one they released looks NOTHING like this one. The 5800 Sucks...

  • This is iPhone! Is Similar!

  • BLATENTLY COPIED THE IPHONE!

  • No app store. Sorry. You lose.

  • ahaa, camera still not as good as nokia N95 :)

But both G1 and this are better than iphone for sure.

1phone were simply faster to develp and produce new phone. I bet people who bought it soon will see that they made a mistake not waiting for same G1 or 5800

  • damn i wanted to buy nokia n78 but heard about this nokia 5800

  • arrozconpollo tell u if u say put better processer the phone wil sure bigger??after tat the phone is big u all like to complain again..plz who say nokia copy iphone!!!nokia hav deisigned this model more than 2 year alr

  • This commercial is fake I am 100% sure, the original one which appears in the "Dark Knight" has nokia written on the left, and has three buttons at the bottom.

Also at the beginning of the commercial it says "nokia devices will allow you to touch the screen to navigate..." this is not what they would say if the new iPhone like nokia device is in that commercial.

No doubt about it, this commercial is fake.

  • I totally agree with you dude

  • The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will also have 140 MB of built-in memory and a microSD card slot (up to 8GB supported). Another obvious fact from the images is the new Nokia BL-5J battery with a capacity of 1320 mAh that will power the Nokia 5800.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic measures 115 x 52 x 14.5mm and weighs 104 g. It's rumored to be officially announced within the next month.

  • Despite its mid-range status, the Nokia 5800 is an expert in communications, sporting quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support plus UMTS/HSDPA on top of it. The other connectivity options include Wi-Fi b/g, stereo Bluetooth (A2DP) and USB 2.0. Finally, this department is completed by a 3.5mm AV jack and TV output.

  • According to the leaked information, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has a 3.2-inch 16M touchscreen TFT display with 640x360 pixels resolution (16:9 display ratio) and some vibrating touch feedback. The device will run on the latest S60 5th edition with accelerometer for auto screen rotation.

  • Nokia 5800 Tube leaked again, gets XpressMusic branding

It seems that Nokia 5800 Tube is really close to an official announcement, as more quality images and detailed information has leaked online. An important discovery is the Nokia 5800 will not spawn a new series of its own called XpressMedia, but will use the already existing XpressMusic.

  • Nokia phones are great, but one drawback is they are super slow..

  • They bring out a iPhone without the chrome-edge and sell it with a ugly cheap summerboard theme. And then they call it Tube. No Jokes, it's completely the same device. The same technic and the same design.

  • it may is but if it is apple have stolen some thing from nokia because its many years ago nokia desingned this phone its just now it will come out

  • WHEN WHEN WHEN???!!!!! I LOVED NOKIA BUT THE LAST MODELS N & E series are so slow. What happend Finland?? you can do better than this. IPHONE is taking over now. You are taking to long. SHIT!! I need SPEED!! bigger processor. why dont you integrate the apx2500 to your phones to see if we can get a great friendly phone as the oldest nokias 6230,6235, SOON..etc.. I want to still lovin Nokia so please ROCK my world again.. =(

  • I like Touch screen phones, and this is look coooooooool!!!

  • n95 is touch screen...lol

  • geeza's fuuny en he ^^^^^

  • Why can't a phone company build a product for themselves. They always seem to build it off of somebody else's work. It's even using Apple's own Web technology for it's browser (Webkit). They really need to create their own path instead of following somebody else's. Apple spent nearly 8 years (since 1999) on developing this one phone, a product by Nokia done in just a few months to a year isn't good enough. here's to the 5th "iPhone killer", so original... none have succeeded yet.

  • And how long it did Nokia to create S40 and S60 platforms ?

  • I wasn't just talking about the platform, I meant the entire phone as a whole.the current generation of S60 I believe came out about 2005, maybe 2006. Btw, the S60's browser uses one of Apple's own open source technologies known as Webkit, the same engine Apple uses in OS X or better yet: the iPhone. Webkit is also being used in Google's Android SDK.But it's like with RIM, there new phone they are working on is nicknamed AK (Apple Killer).I mean come on, They're hurting themselves by doing this.

  • its all about business... it's not bad to go to a right path...-thats why nokia copied iphone's idea coz it's the right path....

more people will appreciate you when u copy others exceptional work and improve it even further, than making another work which is more inferior...

besides, the CELLPHONE INDUSTRY is MORE about consumers satisfaction RATHER THAN a company's ORIGINALITY...

  • I don't have a problem with copying. The thing is, most companies only copy to the point of contending. They try to catch up instead of surpassing. When Xerox gave Apple the right to use their ideas (GUI), Apple only used them to a limit. They took one thing and made it better by creating their own form of windows, icons, and buttons. They even added their own inventions like the menu bar. Business is good, but in my experience, developing a product for profit rarely ends up good.

  • Well solid platform is important, after that you can make one phone model in about one or two years (like new 3G iPhone), Apple needs pay its own study like every mobile company, google has been playing they own platform similar time.

And unlike Apple, this S60 solution can be licenced from nokia/symbian, so there will be many iPhone/tube "clones" in future.

Webkit is based on work done by KDE team, Nokia and Google are both working with apple to make it better, power of open source.

  • Yep Webkit is based on KDE components, just like how the Kernel is based on FreeBSD with some BSD and net BSD. Apple since around 2000 has been moving into the open source area.

Truthfully I don't care about the 3G iPhone, but I do believe it will help sales greatly. S60 is a good platform, but after using the iPhone it feels like the S60 is 4 or even 5 years behind. I like S60, but Nokia now needs to really get to work on making it even better to contend.

  • granit, ure making it seem like iphone is the 1st phone ever to introduce a touchscreen phone. Apple pretty much copied LG Prada. So happened that Apple had the better UI than the Prada. So what's wrong if other phonemakers decide to develop their own fully touchscreen phones w/ an improved UI than the Iphone's? Is Apple the only company who has the right to be inspired and thrive from that inspiration? Apple gets ideas from others too, it's only fair that others get some from them also.

  • I don't try to make the iPhone seem like it's the first touch screen. I don't even consider it to be a cell phone at all. I see the iPhone along with the iPod Touch as a whole new platform. The iPhone merely has phone based features.

btw, I wasn't talking about the touch screen. I was more focused on the design as a whole along with the operating system. Like the dock at the bottom and icons in a neat Desktop look. Apple designed that for their Newton PDA(Coined by Apple) in 1993.

  • granit, but that is how it works in the commercial world. There is patent to protect manufacturers from someone else copying their designs. The best design for a touchscreen phone is always going to be a rectangle/candy bar. Moto razor was one of the very first ones to come up with the slim factor, not iphone. Iphone pretty much summed up cool features from other phone manufacturers and applied it into theirs. Would it be a sin against Nokia if iphone decided to include GPS on their phone?

  • If you read one of the comments I already made, I said I didn't have a problem with copying. It's the fact that they don't improve on someone else's work, they copy something with out going even further. They need to pass the competition, not catch up to it

  • granit, well maybe they don't want to just abandon their heritage just because of the iphone, lol. If you ask me, a lot of phones have already surpassed iphone in other factors. It is only in the touch UI that iphone excels, other than that, the iphone does not really have much to offer that other phones do. I myself like the iphone so much, but will never buy it for reasons that it does not give me all the things that I need for a phone.

  • Something to look forward to for 2009

  • wannabe...

  • At last touchscreen from Nokia, a'll buy it

  • Actually Nokia came out with touch screen way before even the iPhone came out. I had it, the Nokia 7710, it's old.

  • now it's 1year older again. 7700 was the first nokia touchscreen however it isn't releases. i have also 7710, but defective. it fall in the water. the main problem of 7710 is the speed.
