I'm a dedicated mac user just so you know, and it sounds like you would want a macbook. not the MacBookPro. but before you do anything, you should go to the closest apple store and talk to an employee about them. and unlike regular stores, all the employees have useful info.

originally i would have gone for a macbook and not bothered with a pro yet. but to be quite honest i think i could puck up on how to use one fast and i have a slight advantage with the fact that my vista laptop has safari as the default browser and itunes is my prefered media player so i recognize mac's user interface.

if i had to recommend a windows os to you i would probably say go straight in with vista or xp

is it the same with macs or is it better to work up the list of os's =]

Its not really a book, but i recommend Mac|Life. Its a great magazine that has review, previews, and other stuff about apple products. Also, i watch Jon4Lakers and doesn't he sort of look like that guy on super bad who hit Seth with his car?

the book insanely great is an amazing book. it isnt only about the macintosh but it also has to do with computers and tchnologie in that time pieriod it also has to do with who really invented the "first" computer! i love that book! i actually have like the origional copy of it i got from my dad! iWoz is a great book to i like tht book because yes without steve jobs there wouldnt be apple but tht goes for steve w also but steve w doesnt get much "fame" for his work!

Andy Hertzfeld (sp?) was just part of the core group that developed the Mac. He wasn't the "third guy," named Ronald Wayne, who was long gone by the time of the Mac.

iWoz is a good book it says that mac os 7 to os 9 crashed because of internet explorer error so macs never crashed it was MS
