The animation was overlayed over actual models that ran and climbed over and under scaffolding in a huge warehouse. Why in some scenes it looks so very real. My opinion cgi can't compete with true animation like this.

Awesome movie, i saw this when i was 6 with my big brother when he rented it and thought it was cool then bought this when i was 12 on video at wal-mart and has been one of my fave animated movies since. Teegra is one fine animated lady! she's up there with Adora from She-Ra, Taarna from Heavy Metal, Cheetara, Lady Amalthea from Last Unicorn and other animated crushes of my boyhood.

This animation style is actually pleasant, for a change, despite the trembling of the characters. If this mature kind of western style animation were revived today, I think they could make the best looking animations.
But no, for some reason these weren't in demand anymore. In the western world, animations were increasingly restricted to child entertainment, all the while the japanese anime gained an expanding niche, which is now more of an audience than a niche.
