  • Wordpress is peice of shit for script kiddos...DRUPALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL...

  • WORDPRESS = BEST!!

  • Drupal

  • Flexibility and security and community. Drupal Wins!

  • Drupal!

  • I like your point about the readily available themes not really being there for Drupal. As a UX/UI guy, and a PHP developer, I LOVE Drupal. The other big deal for me was that I could set up a Drupal "Farm" with many domains running off the same drupal core. With Wordpress, I had to be on the same domain. So updates to Wordpress x 20+ sites....PAINFUL. Both are great platforms, depending on your use.

  • This video should be taken down... both CMS engines have made leaps and bounds since '07. I <3 Drupal, but if you have to ask you're better off with Wordpress.

  • I don't code, so WordPress it is.

  • I actually like Textpattern the most for a simple blog website. You need to be a designer to create a website with Textpattern though. I find Wordpress very boring.

  • God, shut up

  • The best way to change font of blog title! -> watch?v=_AXqXUqu1JU

  • your face is annoying and so is your voice

  • I use Joomla but if I had to choose between Wordpress and Drupal, I would say Wordpress because it is user friendly and has tons of support.

  • Why would you give this video a thumbs down?? Bizarre.

  • TYPO3!

  • okay wordpress banned payperpost

    I'm late!

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • it depends on the

    platform you choose

like Wordpress or (Blog) + Marketing or Business Model

I'm in the process of trying out Smorty

    and paypercost Basicly using

    the Consumer Generated Advertising model.

  • Having used a huge number of varied platforms (RazorCMS?) I can say this:

Speed and efficiency? Drupal and Wordpress top the charts.

Ecommerce done right, Drupal or Magento.

Web designer or blogger? Drupal or Wordpress.

The way I see it, Drupal can be fitted to any need, but there are other options.

Joomla, is heavy. After a few productions, I had to leave it alone, for Drupal.

Expression Engine, and several other platforms are alright, but don't have the established community or mod library.

  • joomla wasnt that bad... i used it for 4 months now im thinking of changing everything :( and switching over

  • Wanna to get great high quality premium wordpress themes please log on to wwwgraphix4designerscom

  • 25 people like Mambo.

  • Hi,

Would you be able to tell me a website where I can take a test for Drupal/ PHP for free to get a score?

    Thanks in advance,

    Varun

  • drupal

  • Vote for wordpress!

  • DRUPAL rocks...

  • i love drupal....................

  • dru baby

  • drupal rock's!

  • I use wordpress but I'll change to drupal soon ..because wordpress are limited for multi pages and customization will be too hard ..

  • chris pirillo is such a dum ass

Drupal is a free software package that allows an individual, a community of users, or an enterprise to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website. Hundreds of thousands of people and organizations are using Drupal to power an endless variety of web sites...

  • With WordPress 3.0, the point about not hosting multiple sites is moot. Drupal still however has the steeper learning curve. I'd say if ease of use and multiple sites were the 2 criterion. Of course this is 3 years ago so things change.

  • @RandallCunningman

WP3 can do multiple finally, but D7 brings the ease of use (easier than WP even). Game, set, match -> Drupal :)

  • Drupal is great for static sites. If you're going blog, there's nothing hotter than WordPress.

  • @CoinTreeMLM erm static site? as in websites that are not driven by server side code and databases? if so then there's no need for a cms at all

  • lets just settle on Joomla!!!

  • @QuizooProductions

Joomla is crap. Tries to re-invent the wheel instead and makes its primary focus self-promotion. The foundation of Wordpress is much more solid for blogging. Notice how Joomla differentiates between modules and plugins? There is no difference. That simple slip-up is a thought/creation problem which leads to needless complexity.. out! enough said.

  • DRUPAL by far ... so much more powerful, and scalable. Any body on the web knows scalability is very key...

@koldotft - Hiding "node titles" is a themeing issue, you can always look for

$title in your node.tpl.php and comment it out. HTH

  • i'm personally a wordpress man

  • I use SilverStripe.

  • I use Drupal, just cant find a way to hide node titles that work :(

  • @koldtoft Automatic Nodetitles while you edit node and Contemplate (or maybe node.tpl.php) while you display it can do the magic. And there are more then one way to do it ;)

  • @koldtoft how do you mean hide node title

    what about module: pathauto

it really awesome, create urlalias automatically for you and remove those ugly node/xx into for example blog/today-i-see-dead-people

    hope this can help you

  • I use both platforms. In simple cases I use wordpress since it's faster to get into production. Drupal is something I use for projects that have the potential of stepping outside the blogging paradigm. Of course, it requires more work to get it into shape, but then, granularity in development has always been the flipside of flexibility, and there are plenty of examples when it's worth the effort.

  • As a developer Wordpress all the way. It does what it is meant to do very well, unlike Drupal where apparently the "userability" is a foreign concept, if I want to do a complex site I choose a framework, Drupal just sucks in too manys ways.

  • Chris is totally on the spot here. I'm an avid Drupal developer and even I, being a fanatic, will recommend Wordpress for a simple blog. But when it comes to making complex websites, Drupal is the way to go - hands down.

  • Drupal is way to easy to hack....im going to have to go with Wordpress

  • I find maam31's comment funny, because the poster have obviously no idea what he's taking about. No system, whatsoever, is bulletproof - however some developers take security more seriously than others. Both the wordpress and drupal security team does a tremendous job on keeping the code as secure as it can be. Of course, if you have a site and you DONT add security patches/updates you're going to be VERY vulnerable! But that accounts for any system whatsoever.

  • no? i hacked a few drupal sites my self...how bout going to milw0rm and really look at half the exploits

  • A search for "drupal" at milw0rm gave me 5 *outdated* results, ie. they have all been resolved. If your not happy with drupal thats fine, but your claim about lack of security is simply false. The Drupal Security team does a great job on resolving security issues, if you know of any you can report it to security (at) drupal (dot) org

  • Old video. Type3 is best same for Joomla and Wordpress and Drupal and Xoops.

Its just about you and you're knowledge and expectation.

Its the same as Islam vs Christianity forgetting the non-believers WTF dude?

  • Wordpress is the best

  • Joomla BITCH!

  • Joomla here

  • Took me a while to finally tackle Drupal but even Joomla was better than Wordpress.

  • Drupal every time

    well worth the learning curve

  • drupal is awesome

  • Buy a better microphone bro

    - my ears are bleeding

MODX but when in a hurry use Wordpress

  • This was over 2 years ago dude.

  • this vid was in 07 look at his vids now!!

  • wordpress

  • I tried Wordpress, Drupa and Joomla. I use wordpress for my blog and Drupal for my website (a travel website). Joomla seemed rather limited.

Drupal is great once you've got the hang of it, but getting the hang of it takes a good month of messing around.

I actually created my site with drupal with virtually no coding and it would have been far harder to do in joomla or wordpress.

  • Drupal is too complex for a simple blog and a uphill fight to learn.

  • Joomla not happy? Try again.

  • ? WordPress Vs Drupal ? Are you kidding me?!?how can you compare a bicycle with a motorcycle?!?Even if both of `em have 2 wheels, you need to have a drivers licence to ride the second one.

  • You can't even compare wordpress and drupal. As mentioned in the video. They're 2 completely different platforms!

  • Maybe.. But for newbies like myself trying to work out if I can do my planned website with Drupal or stick with the easier Wordpress, its handy to have this argument and spell out the differences to the people just thinking about moving from Wordpress to something as powerful as Drupal

  • joomla sucks. huge learning curve for someone who is new. but ok once you get the hang of it. a bug at almost every step of setting it up.

  • Comment removed

  • Drupal is great for creating content-driven websites. Wordpress is great for good solid blogging.

  • Wordpress, FTW!!!

  • Drupal

  • WordPress self hosted. ftw!

  • I actually do not find Wordpress comparable with Drupal. They have very little in common. To install and customize drupal, you need to be a web developer who knows his coding. With Wordpress, you have to know nothing. Drupal is a fully fledged content management system while Wordpress is a blog. This is a big difference. Comparing Drupal with Joomla would make much more sense, actually.

  • i use wordpress for one site. don't agree about wordpress themes--mostly they're weak, although revolution themes are da bom. never tried drupal. surprised you don't like joomla.

  • I agree, most themes need tweaking in WP, but at least most of them don't use tables, which you can't say of joomla :-)

  • wordpress all the way. More SEO friendly and a lot easier to set up and customize.

  • Drupal wasn't and isn't made for lazy people and like DrBammBamm said there's a learning curve and you have to familiarize with it but when you do you'll find it simply the most modular, extensible and flexible CMS (acutally CMF) out there with TYPO3 Wordpress has always been connected to blogs and will always do even if i consider it so good in many aspects.

    Drupal will do the job.

  • Drupal has some kiler features like the most powerful taxonomy system in an open source CMS, SEO friendly out of the box, and endless customization and scalibility.

  • Drupal

  • Don't you know WordPress has a multi blog option? it's called 'WordPress mu'. mu stands for multi-user.

I'd suggest you at least know a little bit about your subject before you post.

  • Of course he knows... listen at 0:45 he talks about WordPress MU and who he'll recommend that platform. :)

  • Drupal is far more advanced and extended than WordPress, although they're both very useful scripts.

  • Joomla?

  • drupal is sort of confusing

  • yeah, that's where the learning curve that he mentioned comes in.....

  • The issue isn't Drupal v. Wordpress. The issue is Cathedral v. Bazaar. You can get involved in Wordpress and be a part of making it into what you want it to be. The alternative is just asking and hoping— kinda like hoping we'd get out of Iraq.

    $user=mouse;

    $drupal=cheez;

    $msoft=mousetrap;

  • drupal is gonna be finished now that microsoft sunk money into it, its gonna be bloatware like mambo.

  • I build sites with lot of advanced features (Event Calendars, User Groups, Custom Data Types, Photo Galleries, Podcasting, etc), so drupal all the way.

    Drupal, Drupal, Drupal!

True there is a learning curve, but I don't think ther would be much to learn if you just wanted to write a really simple site, but then if it is really simple, and won't ever need what drupal really offers, you'd be better off with Wordpress anyway.

  • Drupal and WordPress are not the same league.

  • Drupal for business, Wordpress for blogs

    Colin

  • Wordpress is for blogs. Drupal is for anything you want. anthonylicari dot com

  • I use Wordpress currently too. I haven't even heard of Drupal before. I used to run Joomla but I didn't like that one bit.

  • Drupal! but Wordpress is also very good
