helluva ear dude, do u score music for marching bands if not u need to enter those waters you could clean up because more and more high schools are looking for arrangements true to the original score of the songs they play and not watered down versions even college's
Hey, great job! Just a quick question - I also use a P and the PJB Bass Buddy, what are your settings on it for this kind of tone? It seems to have flat EQ, compressor off, but active setting on? Am I getting this right?
A fine job at copping Jamerson's "hook" - not an easy task, yet very well done. Also, thanks for not using some stupidzingyoveractivelyequedwithtoom anyknobsandafurniturepolish finishsixstringbass to do this. There is only one voice for Jamerson's legendary lines and it's a flatwound-strung Fender Precision Bass, a legend in its own right.
awesome awesome! gave me goosebump. i featured your vids on my humble bass multiply account, i hope it's ok... i gave proper credits and a link back to your channel so they could check out the rest of your awesome videos. :)
It's difficult to explain - there are hundreds of other I like - this one just has a bit of everything that's great about Jamerson, plus a superb Motown arrangement, production, and Stevie of course....he's a God to me.
i think i'm onto something ... just listened to you play "uptight" and now i have to add it to my 'don't make me choose' list. my theory, until proven wrong, is that something about stevie -- himself or his songs -- raised the bar for jamerson, his own bar, already sky-high bar.
Man, great job! You are a better man than me for playing this memorized! You nailed almost every note exact to the music! It appears as though your videos have the same annoying noise gate that mine have. I think youtube thinks they are helping the situation, where, in fact, they are messing it up more!
Litlle more bassy than should, but Great playing MY FRIEND!BRAVO!!!

Great job--and nice bass, too. It's good to see that I'm not the only guy who digs the p-bass.
Are those flatwound strings?

nice work man! You probably have it but get the Standing in the Shadows book/cd and listen to Pino Palladino play this tune. ...he really nails it.
