  • Would you prefer this or a bivy sack? And how does this handle strong wind?

  • How much does this reviewer weigh?

  • 80 kg :-)

  • Could you please advise how to use as a traditional leisure hammock. i.e without the mosquito net and the wire supporting it. Thanks

  • I've been looking at these for awhile now. After watching your video, I am SO getting one of these!

  • wtf is up with the audio?!

  • This would never work if you' camp in the dessert right? Im in SoCal and I camp in the dessert, but there are NO trees at all.

  • @cliffcox66 Unless you're near your cars like the picture in Afghanistan at @6:14

  • @eatsleepbike K, not gonna work,, I in So Cal, open desert, nothing but low scrub and sand.

  • Thanks Mate , thats one of the best demo versions of the hammock I have seen....Damon NT Australia cheers

  • Whats with the stupid random speeding up of his voice?

  • @svothe1 I think he's British.

  • what would yo udd to the hammock?

  • I found out about these around a week after buying a new tent (damn!)... I'm really intrigued. Definitely going to give them a shot in the future. Thanks for the video.

  • @AshenClay

I've been a happy hennessy owner for a few years now and that velcro is industrial. Obviously dont abuse your gear but its a wide strip and sturdy, good quality velcro. That stuff wont wear out or fail anytime soon.

  • Quick question about the Hennessy hammock - can it be used as a normal hammock by flipping it upside down (180 degrees) and lying on the bottom or would the centre ridge-line get in the way? If the centre ridge-line would get in the way, can it be loosened or removed?

    Thanks!!

  • @bensporn1

Flipping it upside down is not possible with the ridgeline, and removing the ridgeline would drastically alter how the hammock hangs. However, you can fold the hammock itself half over and end up with a camp chair/lounger you can lay back and sleep on.

  • What sort of feedback do you have about the effects on muscles, back-aches and such?

  • We to my knowledge have never had any feedback suggesting problems with back pains, in fact to the contra, we have had nothing but positive feedback, with plenty of people getting an excellent nights rest..... :-)

  • @RVOps I am thinking of buying one of these Hennessey hammocks(The Care Plus Hennessy Expedition) but now i have come accross another hamock namely the Eureka Chrysalis. Which one do you think is better? Could you please give me an answer to that? Thanks!

  • @teemuruskeepaa

i suffer from back pain it got so bad a had to give up the camping untill i bought a hammock.Once u get used to sleeping diagonally its the best nights sleep u will have.Including ur own house bed

  • This is perfect for all forms of outdoor life, not just for you grunts in the military. It's quite expensive 700 $, so I have to deal with my student loans first. I'm going cycling across Europe and I don't think I need much more stuff to carry. A tent matress, small wardrobe, couple of tools in the Bob Ibex, just 10 kilos in the trailer and rest I can buy daily at local stores. No more camping costs or hostel costs, camp in any bush away from sight.

  • @teemuruskeepaa .....It's quite expensive 700 $, so I have to deal with my student loans first....

700 $ ?..... Dude WTF are you talking about... You can get an Expedition Aysm for under 120 dollars through Amazon......

  • @rainmechanic Yes, it was about 300 euros actually. But I don't have a credit card - refused from me, because I don't have a regular job. 30 years old in Finland, refused a VISA for 10 years.

  • Hi All, The hammocks entrance closes under your own body weight, with the Velcro only assisting in keeping the gap closed. We are gearing up for another up-to-date demo soon, so with all the comments noted we will endeavour to answer all the questions asked - watch this space.

  • can you only purchase this hammock off the internet or can you purchase from a store, i live in BC canada im not sure if they would have any specific hammock stores that sell this.. if any one could help me out that would be great thank you very much and superb video!

  • @skyhlgh

Go to MEC! There are tons of them in BC, I'm going to the one in Vancouver to buy this hammock on the weekend. Google MEC for their site / more info.

  • I don't know of any brick-and-mortar stores that have much in the way camping hammocks

  • @piercedsquid REI started carrying them.

  • @skyhlgh I live in Victoria BC and the hammoc k can be purchased at the Mountain Equipment Coop.

  • Dead Straightforward

  • If you live near bear country do not put your nutty bars or any other food candy etc. in the hammock with you. This a better video on the hammock than even Hennessy's videos. Thanks

  • I don't like using Hammocks in the wilderness/outdoors because of widow makers. You have to really be careful where you set this up.

  • Google "History of Hennessy Hammock Manufacturing" to view their statement regarding their manufacturing operations in the US, Canada and China

  • the hennesseys are made in CHINA now and much more inferior.

This is what happens when a company get too greedy for profit.

I'd recommend a Warbonnet Blackbird , made in the good old USA not china !

besides, the guy James at hennessey is rude !

  • Have you ever considered the Chinese might actually produce better product than Americans. Yeah, better.. and cheaper.

  • Lets see it with a sleeping bag/pad involved.

It's wonderful how you can sneak in and out of the "chair" but where's the sleep system ?

  • how does this have almost 50,000 views?!?! this is why you guys rule.

  • Good video on the Hennessy Hammock.

How tall are you by the way? Your head seems to be almost touching the ends of the hammock. I'm about 1 inch under 6 feet. Would it be too cozy?

  • there are some models made for people over 6 foot

  • I've used mine on the Appalachian Trail for a few years now and I absolutely love it. You do need to plan ahead if the weather is going to be a bit on the cold side as you will need some insulation underneath -- whether you use a pad or buy an underquilt. Still, it's my favorite method of sleeping in the outdoors. Great video.

  • The snakeskins ... do you collapse the TARP AND HAMMOCK in them or only the hammock ?

  • Many thanks for the enquiry.

The snakeskins collapse BOTH the Tarp and Hammock :-)

  • You can store the Fly and the hammock or each one individually.

  • i have dicthed the tarp and replaced it with a poncho so then i have a water proof

jacket and a shelter. the poncho is even easier to set up than the tarp(less anchor points) i emailed this idea to hennessy yesterday and they replied saying they already have a proto type and will be on the way in the future. how cool is that. a hammock, tent, jacket, ground sheet, different combinations of shelter, rescue mat. plus any other uses you can think of.

sweet. good vid by the way!

  • We suggested the same to the hennessy last year and didnt get a lot of joy so well done you. The addition will be a BIG bonus.

    Andy

  • They would be opening a legal Pandora's box by acknowledging any suggested ideas coming from their customers. They've probably been advised by patent lawyers to keep a zipped lip, lest someone who suggested an idea bring a lawsuit against them for using it without compensation. Safer 2 just ignore the suggestion or say they have a prototype, (probably do). They've probably gotten hundreds of poncho suggestions. That's a pretty straightforward idea easily thought of by many campers.

  • Basically obviously this video demo is, basically, obviously, not bad. Basically. Obviously. ;o)

  • This is such a great video. Thank you.

My boyfriend and I are getting our first Hennessys in a few days...an Explorer Deluxe for him and an Expedition for me. The package should arrive on Tuesday, and I'm really excited to try them out!! I'm only 5'5" and was going to get a free Scout as part of their website promotion, but the kind folks at Hennessy upgraded me to the Expedition. :-)

I am a Yank who is really bad at placing accents -- may I ask what part of the UK you are from?

  • Do you need extra insulation for summer camping in the UK?

  • The UK is very diverse in its climate and depending where you're going to use it, will depend more on the type of bag you use, rather than altering the hammock. I would recommend using an insulating mat on the bottom of all hammocks in Scotland at this time of year, it will protect against midges biting your ass through the thin material.

  • Great video. I found it a bit easier to roll-up the hammock a little bit before moving the snake skins up. It helps avoid a big bulge in the middle as well.

  • the easiest way to get in to a sleeping bag is to unzip it as far as it goes down and then climb in and do it up when you get in.thats my idea anyway

  • great tutorial...well done!

  • I've got a Hennessy, which is great for Japan, where I live. The only complaint is that the entrance, which is unzipped doesn't always seal the way the maker claims.

  • great vid and informative....i like everything about the hammock except that entrance....i dont see any possible way to get into a sleeping bag that way.....i actually own and love the hammock from eagles nest outfitters....more of a traditional hammock with a bug net shell around it....might want to check out that if your shopping around....

  • Hi Chris, i'm not sure what a DD hammock is however the line used for hanging stuff runs the full length of the hammock therefore i would suggest hanging your boots at the bottom end over your feet.

  • Great vid! Informative as always. But I am stuck with deciding between the hennessy and the dd hammock. What are your best arguments for the hennessy? And what do you do with your boots when sleeping? Hang them over your head?

  • Great video. I'm getting it.

  • Thanks to your video I just ordered a hammock today, from the Henessy factory in the US (I live in Japan).

    Thanks for such nice review!

  • Many thanks to everyone for the feed back and words of encouragement.

  • Awesome demo, cheers. All your vids have been useful - keep it up.

  • 4.) So i think i will get an H hammock. It looks less "breakable": the clark, with all its built-in things looks kind of delicate; more comfortable: more space should mean more posibilities to position yourself giving you more alternatives to find the position and the Hennessy look like a hanging tent; the more I surf the web, the more i find the entrance of the H a really appealing except for it being velcro since most of the things i have with velcro wearoff.

  • 3.) Now. The Clark Jungle Hammock North American comes with many cool features. I like the fact that it has built in features for practically any weather. With the hennessy this doesn't happen; you need to get the SUPERSHELTER INSULATION 4 SEASON SYSTEM which added up to the hammocks price would be arround the same price as The Clarks' or find your own way to get warmth.

  • 2.) Your video is very well done and just clears out many doubts I had about the hennessy. Even thought the The Clark has a built-in stuff bag, i was blown away by the snake skins in your video. I had seen a video at hennessy's site but it isn't as "complete" as yours since it doesnt show what the snake-skins actually do.

  • 1.) I wanted to let you know that your video is making me at last make a choice. I have been struggling since past december over deciding which to get: The Hennessy or The Clark Jungle Hammock (i only get one chance of buying the hammock so i must choose right).

  • Hi there, glad you found the demo informative. Always the way with lads lol Next they will want to borrow it!!

  • Thanks for this video which I will froward to my mates. I am in the military and have a Hennessy Hammock and my mates used to make fun of the fact I had one. However after a few nights in really steep country where they slid down the hill in their sleeping bags I was still high and dry between the 2 trees I had tied up to. I think the inclusive mozzie net is the best selling feature (not to mention the comfort). Regards.
