  • Shit hot bro

  • ¿Mouthpiece?

  • Your super good @_@. No kidding.

  • What mouthpiece do you use?

  • yo you are really good, what sax are you using

  • very nice, do you know where I can find the instrumental part only?

  • Any saxophonist who is any good or even cares has watched this.

  • amazing sound!!! how long have you played?

  • Playing along with this video on double bass a few minutes ago just made my week. This is brilliant - reminds me of all the jazz I used to do back in school, and makes me realise how much I miss it now I'm not playing so much!

Great playing, great soloing, and great video - thanks a million for sharing this :)

  • Setup please?

  • You look so happy while your playing but your good

  • meyer 5?

  • not bad man keep swingin

  • what key are you playing in, what blues scale?

  • Buddy.I am 13 and i play the alto sax in my school concert band. One think i would like to share with you to improve the sound and tone balance is to warm up your sax first. This can be achieved by blowing warm air in to the horn to clear the passage way to get a nice round sound.Try to make the low notes sound too.Bye!

  • @MarvelBoy97 Ok, let me get this straight, your a 7th grader trying to tell a highschool senor now in college how to warm up his sax? I heard it all.

  • @MarvelBoy97 ok fyi kid, for jazz on alto sax the low notes arent supposed to sound. learn ur shit before u try to tell someone whose obviously better than u how to play -_____-

  • what horn do you use

  • Very nice playing! I love your jazz sound, and you're improvisation is quite impressive too (to say the least). I can't imagine how good you are now since this video was posted =P.

  • Good. Keep on practicing. Loosen up you mouth and bring in more air. Easier on a baritone sax (the sax I play)

  • yOU FEEL THAT SHIT!

  • which microphone do you use??

  • What kind of mic are you using? Trying to find one for myself

  • 34 people got slapped by Miss Jones

  • That's a berg larsen you're playing on? You sound incredible, dude.

  • this is SUCH a fking fake video not im trollin. guys this guy makes ton of fake vid so you guys believe he is a musician plays like that. first of all you can tell the sound is isolated from his room. he has no fingering whats so ever, he is just using a recording. i can tell its fake by confirming a record, THE IMPROVISATION IS THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL RECORD lol... now dont tell me he sound that good the improv sounds exactly the same....

  • @DivineLi i agree!!!! look how he breaths too! Any good or experenced sax player knows to A) not breath like that and B) that you cant breath till 0.05 seconds before the note playes. I cant find the time but he took a huge dramatic breath and nearly misses the next note. its faked.

  • @SuperSCREWTHISYOUTUB

Dude's ... watch this kid play in the jazz band in his other vids ... I think its UW Eau Claire, they have a heck of a jazz band from just the bit I saw. This guy has mad skillz! I'm sure its not fake (29 years sax experience)

Also check out "Adam plays Jazz Sax" for another good takeoff of the song, and Alex Han for some great sax performances.

    Cheers!

  • @SuperSCREWTHISYOUTUB

LOL obviously you haven't carefully observed any of the major jazz prodigies..

why don't you take a look at paul desmond.

Are you still going to say that the rule A & B apply to everyone?

  • @DivineLi Ur a dumbass buddy

  • @TalkToTheMac why are you raging and cussin when ppl point out your mistake. proove your real gues you cant.

  • @DivineLi Why r u trolling dumbass? He obviously is not fake! You are just jealous that you cannot play like this, so instead you troll on other peoples youtube pages with your dick out!

  • @DivineLi As a matter of fact...it is real. You want to know how I know? Claiming he's not fingering is completely false because when you reach up into the upper registers with a saxophone, you have to press something called an Octive Key. I doubt you'd know what it is. When you press it from A above the staff and up...the little hammer on the neck of the sax raises. Well...if he wasn't fingering...it wouldn't raise. How do I know? I play saxophone.

  • @XxchristianforevaxX

hey saxguy i play sax too and yeah ur right but nahh he plays but with bad embrochure and moves too much as in his face but yeah good stuff hes il say somewhat ripping

  • @freshhhbihhh142536 you have to do that in jazz -.-

  • @XxchristianforevaxX Now someone sees it through my point of view =)

  • @XxchristianforevaxX Well, to be technical, anything above C# needs an octave key. But... you could argue that the D doesn't need it since there is the alternate fingering.

  • @endlessman1 True, however, my point was simply that the octave hammer raises when you finger A above the staff. And yes, but that D sounds horribly out of tune when playing with other saxophones if using that fingering XD

  • @XxchristianforevaxX Also, btw, you spelled octave wrong. -_-

  • @endlessman1 Yeah in my previous post two months ago, but I was rushing to get it posted I think or didn't check it. A common typo which doesn't reflect my ability of comprehension or knowledge on this subject.

  • @XxchristianforevaxX Whatever you wanna say... stupid. =P

  • @XxchristianforevaxX you use the octave key for anything above a c or c# i guess. You might be thinking for tenor since thats down a perfect fourth so that'd be an A.

  • I totaly agree i have only played sax for year and it is pretty easy to tell :]

  • @DivineLi I want the record that he's "faking" from. The guy has chops on all woodwinds. Don't hate.

  • @DivineLi Shut up. You don't know how to PLAY saxophone, or else you'd KNOW he was fingering. It's called the OCTAVE KEY, dumbass. LEARN ABOUT IT.

  • @DivineLi honestly i thing you should shut the hell up and admire the the guys skills, and hes fingering correctly, watch the neck and youll see the octive register moving when he plays above his upper concert Bb. so shut up and watch the pro

  • Good joob

  • ARE YOU PUFFING YOUR FUCKING CHEEKS???? YOU BETTER NOT BE!!!

  • @ryanrocks135

hes not puffing his cheeks, thats how most jazz musicians embrouchures are.

  • otimo

  • muito bom cara vc é de +

    tem futoro em

eu sou iniciante começando a pegar musicas

  • your good

watch on playing too soft and bitting too hard

  • Your improv is tasty.

  • your realy good

go BGA (band geeks of amarica)

  • is there a peice on the reed to give it that jazz sound? or is it just the type of sax? because i play the saxophone and i would really like to know please :)

  • @kevinmonkeys

im not sure but its probably usually the mouthpiece that may provide the specific "jazzy" tone. I myself use a selmer s-90 (190 facing) studio mouthpiece and can acquire the same type of sound he his getting, also with my selmer 190 soloist mouthpiece. like i said im not 100% completely sure you will get the sound right off but it'll sound much jazzier than playing with classical mouthieces as for reeds id say try vandoren java or Jazz

  • @beastyzy thank you sooooooo much

  • @beastyzy thank you very much :)

  • What affordable student or vintage alto saxophones should I be looking at for my first sax?

  • @XiaoPow Selmer Bundy II, Vintage Conn, Keilwerth Intermediates, Cannonball, Beuscher, Selmer USA, Yamaha. These are good to start.

  • @MrJazzSaxophone

Thanks for the answer. How much do you think I'd have to spend on a decent first saxophone that won't break down after two weeks?

  • @XiaoPow For a student, couple hundred dollars. For a pro, couple thousand. It depends on how well you take care of it.

  • @XiaoPow i paid 450$ for my first one about 7 years ago. it still splays, but i've upgraded my collection to a custom $3,500 yamaha alto, a $9,000 50's meyer, and a custom yamaha tenor

  • this video is a complete copy of victorjazz's video "adam plays jazz sax". same embellishments and pickup to the solo.

  • try playing in time dude... also one slightly repeated motif would be satisfying

  • Comment removed

  • wow i dont even think this is an alto!!:P

    i think dis is a tenor 0_0

well anyways its a great solo i like it! also i wanna know about how average a tenor sax goes for couse i am looking for a sax and i donno wut price would be good.

  • wow...your REALLY good! Keep it up!

  • wow awesome

  • Fantastic! You're playing like a veteran jazz saxman already!

  • one word.awesom

  • you're so good!!!!!!!

  • Gorgeous tone.

  • your playing is very good, I dont believe any of these "critics" know what they are talking about

  • it's great you are playing classic standards..

  • Wonderful tone and technique, exellent performance

  • can you PLZ send the notes to me???

  • @steft10 Same here, i REALLY REALLY want the music for this because the songs I played arent even close to being this cool so if anyone knows how to get the music TELL ME!

  • @MrMountainjack Buy the Real Book.

  • @confoozled3737 The one called Broadway By Special Arrangement sure, if I am willing to improvise i could do that

  • Very good !!!

  • wow it sounds so amazing! at first i though it was fake

  • seriosly that was mad good bro !!BRAVO!!

  • Notes?

  • nice

  • One of the best sax videos on YouTube. Fantastic tone and unbelievable artistry.

  • you have a great tone!

how long have you been playing, how old are you, and have you auditioned for anyhing?

  • can somebody tell me how to get that nice jazzy sound

  • @shane128jones Try out different mouthpiece/reed configurations and try to play with a loose embouchure. And don't be afraid to blow the horn! More air makes for a fuller sound.

  • @vithaj92 he's great, in tune, in his technique, in everything. Wth would you recommend to change his setup..He's great

  • @Tzazilas My comment was meant for someone else, maybe you should take a closer look before you comment yourself. *sigh*

  • @vithaj92 o.O indeed sorry anyway. :S i would agree with you and also suggest you listen a lot of jazz music, various artists, and not only sax but other instruments (clarinet, trumpet, guitar, bass...). The key is the style, the freedom, the improvisation. Mainly the last thing. Sorry again vitha anyway

  • @Tzazilas **also suggest him (not you) :)

  • @Tzazilas No problem! :)

  • You Sound Great!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • how did you get such amazing tone?

  • this is really good...very smooth

  • Ok, been playing piano for 16 years (since I was 6), dad taught me drums, trombone or 11 years and 2 years guitar learnt from youtube ironically...i need to learn to play alto sax.. i've always wanted to, it's like sex to the ears!

  • hey mate, what sax are you playing on???

  • @tidzski it is a Yamaha custom Z with a berg larsen mouthpiece and vandoren 2.5 ZZ reeds

  • @pincam omgasshh. Another Vandoren user. .... sorry. I just had to get that out.

  • dude youre awesome! keep up the good work

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What scale are you using? I don't really have musical hearing...

  • wonder what sax he uses.

  • Safe sax....... Use a neckstrap :p

  • dunno why, it's pretty damn awesome.

    sorry.....

  • having said that, I just disliked this vid.

  • nice

  • Dude that's sexy

  • What setup do you use for recording (microphone, software, etc..) ?

  • the sexophone!!!...

  • Yo dude, I played with this kid last year at UWEC. He is the absolute awesomest.

  • where to download this song? :)) i need music sheets

  • I just started playing and you inspire me. Thanks. Keep up the good work. You play from the heart.

  • K so im in ninth grade and Im learning how to play alto, and i kinda suck really bad right now, and i was wondering if anyone had any tips that could improve my tone/music reading/playing in general. I really want to get better.

  • @xfire333 nothing more than practice. study licks, scales and how they work with different chords and what really helps is to find a friend to learn with. keeping up with other musicians makes you progress faster

  • i was playing this really loud & my parents thought i was watching porn

  • @stevenhamlin1000 then you watched porn... haha

  • @stevenhamlin1000 Bahaha!

  • @stevenhamlin1000 i don't get it. could you maybe clarify this?

  • @santis308 sounds like a porn track

  • @stevenhamlin1000 wow, u were quick to reply. anyway, i don't see how they could think it was porn. it sounds more like lounge music or something

  • @santis308 it kinda does sound like a porn track or the music they play late night on the weather channel allot of smooth jazz is used in porn tracks lol

  • @stevenhamlin1000 well i don't watch porn, so ill have to take your word for it. and its true about the weather channel. here i thought smooth jazz was an innocent form of music

  • @santis308 you can try it see if it sounds like porn music

  • @stevenhamlin1000 so your parents are used to watch porn with jazz in it. interesting

  • @stevenhamlin1000 jajajajajajjaja

  • great tone, kind of Kenny Gish, and i dont mean that as an insult, he has a great tone

  • @JFruscianteGod2

    Defs an insult

  • The solo was a little slow developing, and got boring at times. Long notes are cool once in a while, but you had a few too many. For the most part you were right on the changes though, so good for you! I really like your sound too!! What's the set up?

  • you sound like a great pop player

    jazz....well...um..

  • @inversion13 I guess most people agree here.

    Jazz = Sax

    Pop = .... uhm computers?

  • @Ryodakun It's not so black and white--smooth jazz is classified as pop by many people.

  • @Ryodakun whats that mean? lol if u think all is only down to comuters then my friend you are mistaken. of course lot of pop is electronic but you know when these bands play live with live bands and acoustic instruments well... and ive heard jazz albums usiing computers and blbla

  • @Ryodakun Sax too?

    Jazz = Trumpet

    :-P

  • @Ryodakun So true!

  • Set up guess time; somer Meyer probably 5, Olegature, some Vandoremn reed maybe Java or V16 and a for your horn and Yani 991. how close am i :)

  • @Coolhowi

he posted his entire setup in the tags

    lol...

  • @whiterockskater @nyerro If you watch the octave key, it does move accordingly to the playing, which is pretty hard to do in a fake unless you know all the correct notes anyway. Also the chorus at the start is being played from the "Real Book Eb (fith edition)", its the exact same arrangment. However, agreeing with whiterockskater, the accoustics are way off, which means its either a really good fake, or that it has been edited with a lot of reverb added, The second option seems most likely

  • Wonderful! You're great!!

  • caramba, esse muleque detona, toca demais, tem muita técnica. Parabéns cara! tão novo e com esse talento! Nicee boy.

    inclible sound

    abraço

  • who thinks he's great ?

  • wow u r good i'm going to play one 2

  • where are you from bro?

    sounds great!

  • I'm pretty sure this is bs. the breathing doesn't match up. especially around 1:06 neither does the acoustics of the sound corresponding with the room

  • @whiterockskater Excuse me: Do you play the saxophone? Because I do. And I can tell you that this dude is really playing. Shit, he rocks!!!! And yes, I am gelous of his improvisation skills. Instead of pretending to look very smart, go to study some music and shut up.

Sorry for being that arrogant, I'm just tired of people like you who are always telling "fake" to everything on youtube. Have a nice day.

  • @nyerro

And I'm jealous of your spelling skills.

  • @whiterockskater a troll on a saxophone video...

    what has youtube become?

  • I'm pretty sure this is bs. the breathing doesn't match up neither does the acoustics of the sound corresponding with the room

  • See what i dont get is how are people like him not famous and the other people are? I mean i can play like this but im not fmaous why?

  • wow this is really good quality

how do you record ur sax?

    what do u use?

  • how do that cool bend at 0:38- 0:39????

  • Wow, you have a great sound! It kind of reminds me of Kenny Garrett and Phi Woods.

  • Thought this might have been fake at first, didn't think anyone that looks as young as you could sound so awesome! You have a Phil Woods sound pretty spot on, great sound and good licks.

I looked over at some of the big band music on your other uploads. Eau Claire must have a top notch music program... Those charts sounded great and the whole band played together well. 5*

  • is that improvisation or a written solo

  • show full sax with hands

  • amazing! nice job!!!

  • Excellente technique, tune parfait, le son du sax également. Que demander de plus pour être une star internationale ? Peut-être une implication PHYSIQUE plus affirmée (moins... froide)... That's all.

    BRAVO

  • What software were you using to record this? Was it something like Pro Tools?

  • i think your sound is edited. oh and dude try memorizing your music for once

  • how do you play like a jazzy note

  • Neo tech neckstrap!! Bad for you!

  • nice tone

    and feeling

  • I would pay to hear you play.

  • Hey mate. try tenor saxophone, this is very better voice there coming out......you playing this song very very VERY good

  • Could u do a how to on that?

  • @Trixie899 You sound like an arrogant prick. This kid obviously has talent.

  • i dont think u were really playing

  • I think, we'll hear alot from you in the near future, man. You're fantastic.
