I totally agree with CAJim2. I just randomly thought of it today and had to do I search for it. I can't believe all of us kids that grew up in the late 70s / early 80s can function normally with all the stuff we were subjected to.
@SvenskaChicaAlpacas Compared to the world today, kids growing up in the 1970's lived in a Utopian paradise! This world today is a nightmare to grow up in!
By the way, I echo all the comments about the people who said this movie gave them nightmares as a kid. I'm terrified of going to prison even to this day. Oh well, I guess it kept me on the right track.
I have to say the music in the movie has the most distinctive style I've ever heard. I heard that song at the beginning and end of the movie "What If..." 25 years ago and hadn't seen the movie sense, and I still have it in my head.
I saw this when I was little and it creeped me out. But since then, it just sat in the back of my brain as a forgotten memory. For years, I couldn't remember what the movie was called or even what it was about... until now.
@wildfandango2 no joke man. there's something about the tone of the movie. Dark, sinister, plus there are many points where it seems like the kid is NEVER getting home. that is some scary S when you're 4
@TheJsalsich Seriously, this damn movie gave me nightmares! i cant believe this was a kids movie. The fishman or whatever he was, haunted me for a long time....im in my mid thirty's and i dont even want to see that evil being again! yikes!
I had been looking for this movie for YEARS! I couldn't remember the title and only a few scenes which none of my friends were of no help. Thank you! I saw this in kindergarten which is about 30 years ago!

My son loves this movie. We found it at the library. I just came here to see what other people thought about it. Good to know he can still watch it after we return it.
I used to rent movies form the Children's Video Library all the time when I was a kid. When I clicked on this link I didn't expect that intro and it brought me back.

The actress playing Jacob's older sister, Marfa, is Kirsten Bishopric, who voiced Marina in "The Little Mermaid" anime, also distribued by Children's Video Library. Thor Bishopric, who plays Noah/O'Toole here, is her younger brother, and voiced Fritz the dolphin in "The Little Mermaid" anime. Go watch on YouTube now. ; )
