Always loved this song. This takes it up a notch. Sometimes the Stones live are lazy and focus on visuals and energy rather than quality sound. Not this one. Better than the studio version.
@rocktenniscats Ah man, I love Bridges To Babylon. Not as much as their late 60's early 70's stuff, but I was a senior in high school when BTB came out, and for some reason it really appealed to me. There are only 2 tracks on it I don't love. Plus that tour was the first time I saw them live, 12th row at the Texas Motor Speedway, and a great show. When the St. Louis concert was on pay per view we had a party to watch it. So I have a lot of nostalgia for it, even though it's not THAT old.
@jbrown1169 I was so lucky to be at that St. Louis concert and have it come out as the official video release. Especially when Dave Matthews came out and did Wild Horses. Mind blowing. It was a beautiful night. I remember the Out Of Control song where Jagger was all over the stage like a maniac.
I've always maintained this is the Stones worst album, BUT THIS SONG is fantastic....pulled the whole LP up! (YES, I said LP as in...VINYL - THAT's how to hear it)
@hunkallgood73 - Oh boy, I don't know...maybe B to B is worse...I better go check out the song list. They have so many damn albums out....PS: I did like the 90's "Voodoo Lounge" - esp. "The Worst" - but probably influenced by seeing that tour live from the 25th row...
@rocktenniscats I dunno, man, you're right about this song, but I also love Crazy Mama, Melody, Fool to Cry and Memory Motel. Maybe the album needed a few more to be collectively strong, but the songs themselves rock.
@Contractnik - OK, I'm gonna go listen to it again....you sometimes appreciate stuff later. I used to hate the album "Sailing Shoes" by Little Feat. Now, I love it - ya never know....
@crackernumber2 - Keith in his usual classy style...often mumbles a "thank you" to Toronto. Without that Toronto bust, he'd be "up there" with pal Gram Parsons. For sure, the bust saved his life - he freely admits he LOVED heroin. A blind gal - big Stones fan, pleaded with the Canadian judge to let him play a charity concert, and do rehab, in lieu of jail. So, they did 2 gigs for the blind in Oshawa (near Toronto), the other Stones joined in..
that would've been a dream come true for a Stones fan in the '70s....seeing them at a dive bar.....that place was a hole in the wall....hoping for an archival release of the El Mocambo show

if they have this concert in their vaults the Rolling Stones should release it...release the beast that was the entire El Mocambo show!!!

Amazing how good they played in Toronto, considering Keith's drugproblems and his arrest.

Best live version ever, this concert would be a great bonus for a future reissue of the Black and blue album.
