Wrong again, cone area + excursion have nothing to do with frequency response, they have to do with SPL.

Pretty much any reasonable speaker can response to 20hz. I've got speaker rated at 35hz, that response fine to 10hz. It is not that they can't respond, they just don't respond at the same level as higher frequencies.

I can hear that the bass is ridiculously out of proportion and is adding nothing but noise to the mix. Balance and clarity are the hallmarks of good audio.

@blueboyblue you really are a tit...yes a 2inch woofer can respond at 20hz but its spl would be so stupidly low it would be pointless, what i meant by frequency response is say +-3db, i have massive towers rated to 35hz and yes they can respond but the spl they produce woul be like -20db or something so their frequency response is to all extents and purposes to around 30hz, after which they stop shaking the room so much

@blueboyblue gees your a retard..at 10hz...yes you can see the excursion and if it were produced at a high spl you would feel it, you cannot feel 10 hz because your speakers are incapable of producing it

therefore to go back to the original arguement, if i were looking for a 20hz capable sub (at +-3db) it needs to have a large throw and cone surface area, hence the video is useful

what speakers do you have that are 10hz capable

if the response is not linear to 20hz you need a sub to "balance"

As to 'feeling' the sound, when I can feel the upholstery on the chair I'm sitting in flex under the pressure of bass sound waves, I think I'm doing OK. And, again, for what it's worth, I'm able to do that without a SUB.

I do have it between my stand and speaker. it is firing that way. it doesnt seem to affect the sound. there is a active and a passive driver on either side of the sub, thats the way its meant to sit. I havent yet tried it in the corner fo the room. i want to avoid it being boomy.

For those saying they can hear distortion, it was recorded using a cheap video camera. You can't get an idea of how it sounds. It would be like recording a HD TV with your cell phones camera.

The bass is limited to the recording instrument and to your crappy computers speakers.

dude... the camera cant handle the bass! try filming you system turned up. the camera can do several things... 1. make it sound quiet when the bass hits 2. distort when the bass hits or 3. sound good but not pick up any bass.

Designed by carver maybe. He has nice amp Phase Linear 700B and something else but that doesn't automatically mean sub he desgined is good. That one is maybe good for movies, not for music. Less movement the better.

305 was good. I had his album too. I'd say the progenitor of that area of Miami Bass was Techmaster PEB. The album 'Computer Bass' was in EVERYONE'S car:) Never forget the first time I heard two Fosgate 18's driven by a Soundstream MC300 in a guy's little Escort. It was madness and I was hooked. That's all camera mic distortion (digital camera). It wasn't too loud when I was recording (50% Gain on the sub) Also, the sub has circuitry that won't let it distort, I just cuts the power back.
