You can use hairspray, or you can buy a spray clear sealant they come in glossy or matte. I think 3M makes them. Sprays do require a few things for best results you must have arid conditions and it must be over 50 F outside but under 70 F outside. Sprays are also toxic when inhaled.
If you attempt to use a spray outside with the humidity at 60-70% which is typical of NY. You'll get poor results. You can purchase a humidity monitor for $20 at Walmart. When measuring humidity set it on the ground preferably a table, do not hold it in hand! Best humidity measurement I ever had on a typical NY day was 50.
Thanks for doing your video the way you did. It really helps people like me, who have never tried this stuff before, exactly what to do and what products to use. I've watched a couple/few videos with chalk techniques and it's amazing how some people do these videos. Some people speak to the viewers as if they know what they're talking about. If people knew what they were talking about, they wouldn't need to watch the video....lol Thanks again!! I really appreciate it!!
too awesome. i had versa mark for the longest time not knowing what the heck to do with it. got some chalk today & now i can mix the 2 together, was wanting to color in stamped images anyway but this technique i can use nothing but chalk to color the versa marked image - TOO KEWL!
yes, great tutorial! i just recently got some SU chalks so now i have an idea how to use them- versamark pens and pad seem to be used with them too which is nice since i still do not know what all to do with the the clear ink. thanks for the tutorials!

@SME19535 I've been told, just a light spray of hairspray works. I'm yet to try it. :)

fab tutorial!
Just wanted to know...can I use dry pastels instead of the chalks? Do I need to use a fixer so that the chalks don't come off?

lovely video, cool technique.
i have a question, after chalking, is there some kind of spray or seal that i can put on top to prevent chalk mess all over the paper?
