this is a classic song but why a vocalist with no vocal talent and does not know all the words and cannot keep to time is allowed on stage astounds me. I can only assume he was pist.I had a MCP staff pass and thankfully a rare Outlaw Promotions pass and heared this so many times always brill. Even the sound check was better than this. Sorry Paul - Taff from South Wales says hello
I bought this as a reissue in mid 80s at about 12 years old. I went around my step grandads house with it not long after my gran had died and was gutted at the time I wasnt allowed to go the funeral. My step grandad like it. Anyway, shame Weller wasnt doing lead vocals on this.
Can't add anything to the previous post; you summed it up. I don't think it is possible to do a convincing cover of a Jam song. Wellers voice is an integral part of them.It simply doesnt work without his voice. Rick and Bruce don't get the credit they deserve either.
wtf is steve craddock doin at the star the fucking idiot, "woooooaahhooo" NO STEVE! he has to be the worst person ever he ruins al of weller songs with his stupid delays & effects fuck off! sack him an drag gem in!!!!
its funny, but nobody can sing these songs with the same energy as Paul - He looks like he is enjoying himself, in fact he always looks like he enjoys performing, a great musician
your real name is not Russell Hastings is it? Ha Ha ;-)
No offence intended there pal but you're exactly right... even the jam tribute album fire and skill wasn't anything special, no-one sings 'em like he does... he wrote 'em, the lyrics came from his soul and belief in what he wrote so it's never gonna be easy for anyone. Paul's covered other artists songs and actually improved on the originals, particularly with songs like Don't Let Me Down and I'd Rather Go Blind... whadya reckon?
Me too buddy but I think this is as good as it's ever going to get for this song... we should think ourselves lucky that we've had old tunes like the eton rifles etc played at gigs considering how he feels about all that early stuff.

What a load of bollocks. Weller shouldn't duet unless it's someone good like Noel Gallagher or Paul McCartney.
