Thank you so much for posting these videos! They have inspired me to train hard and to have more fun in the roda among other things. Capoeira has changed my life for the better, and I'm glad that this video reflects that Capoeira isn't just an art for. To me it is a constant state of being, a way of life. I hope you make another video soon. Muito obrigado,e Axé para todos os Capoeiristas :)
So this documentary spoke about the feeling people get playing capoeira more so than the role it plays in Brazil... I heard no mention of the modern mestre's who currently fight to preserve capoeira's traditions, not did I hear anything regarding the traditions lost in capoeira regional due to the changes made. This was more about regional than the full aspect of capoeira today.
I respect your opinion, but how much does capoeira have to change before it stops being capoeira. Many people take certain aspects of it that they like and they leave the rest out. Capoeira is more than looks, but when people choose to specialise in the visual, it starts to augment its nature. I love capoeira as I have trained in it for a long time, but I hate this western mentality that if something looks tidy it must be better.
Capoeira in the past was more than an art, it was a way of life.
yes, you're right just if the roda is not "organized" I mean, if it is spontaneous or if I don't belong to the organizer group . That' what my Mestres told me. So I imagine it was spontaneous with people met in the street. In any case I repeat, it's beatiful.

This movie was made to promote capoeira not to discuss what is going to happen to it in the future.
Btw, its natural the evolution of an art like capoeira.

I agree, Capoeira is a way of life.
I pratice capoeira for a long time too ...
"Ginga" itself is very hard to explain to anyone that is not brazilian.
The internacionalization of an art, changes it, the same thing happen with karate, just to name one a few.
The real fighters are the one that completely embrace the art.
Capoeira and its way will live on in pleople like you that love it and want to know its nature =)
Btw, where are you from ?
