Must say tho, it will only lag for 30 seconds, then go back to being good for 5 mins, but then 30 seconds of lag freeze, and then 5 minutes of fair play...

@terrcraft18 no, not really. Cylon colony got hit by at least 10 nukes, which blew it back towards the black hole. Suddenly, no colony, no resurrection, and no more threat to humanity.
Too all of you saying stuff like "All of this for a mining ship?" If you watch the show, you will know that there is 1 human mining ship in the galaxy. The mining ship gets the ship fuel so with no mining ship = End of human race.

To those who were sad about no basestars or battlestars in combat , guess what? You can command the Batlestar Pegasus or the 2nd Basestar if u get enough merits. Merits you get for beating players
Gameplay is actually good for just being a browser, it's balanced so in good battles you don't get big frigates picking on the small fighters, they're too busy worrying about guys their size while avoiding the bigger fish.

@kahetel13 The popularity of an mmo does not determine how many servers are necessary to run the game. EVE was and will always be designed for one and only one server. EVE is a sandbox and isn't designed to have a very selected few points of interest where players gather to trade or log out. It's unconventional when compared to WoW, LOTRO, Champions and whatever else out there because those universes are no where and will never be as vast as EVE's. It's more popular than you may think.

Ive been playing this game for a few weeks now and I can say that the fighting in game really is like that. Tons of players firing at each other in a huge mess that can almost be considered a dogfight... Although you wont see a base-star or the Galactica jump in some players have ships that rival them in size

The trailer pretty much sums the game, you fly around hoarding mines. Except Galactica and the Baseship are not in play, instead higher levels can upgarde to medium sized line and capital ships which are pretty inconsistent with the series art direction. Its essentially a FPS of FreeSpace meets Homeworld.
I like BSG, but I don't think it is necessary to make an MMORPG.
I think it will be just another piece off MMO shit or waste of time and money. The old republic will grab all MMO players, so BSG Online won't be interesting to people.
open beta is go, just played about an hour of this... not entirely shit I'm happy to report.
On foot the graphics and controls are sketchy, but nobody cares about that. In a ship, you can really dogfight nicely, the controls become fluid and quite fast, give it a try peeps. I haven't made up my mind totally yet... it does look and feel nice when you're cruising around the Galactica in a viper, open options and ramp the graphics up to 100% then go for a cruise around a star system..
anybody knows how to play BSGO over proxy? I have access to the internet only via Websense filter firewall or so. I cant play it ... but I want to ... uaaaaa

Though I am a big fan of the series and I like the graphics... but I would prefer an action shooter with a tight atmosphere, based on the series, than an mmo.

@Lucasones I actually think its very good.... considering its free. The graphics are great and i rarely experience any lag while online. Fair enough its not totaly following the series, but it allows you to determine what happens instead, and atleast offers some fun in playing around with big ships instead of vipers only. The game is definately not shit, it may have a few weak points but overall its much better than i expected.
What i hate is when they advertise games with awesome graphics, but it's just a cut scene and they can make games look more epic than they are. Not that I'm saying that this is a bad game, but would it kill for a little gameplay footage?

I have heard it said (speculated?) that this game is why all fan-made, done-with-a-love-for-the-show BSG objects and BSG RP stuff was pulled from Second Life in such a heavyhanded manner. I have also heard it said that many of those who'd been beta testing this upcoming game, upon hearing of what happened on SL, said to the game developers and to Universal that now they were NOT going to play the game when it goes live. Apparently a lot of others have similar intentions.
@starflame34 I first couldn't open it in firefox because the unity plug-in didn't work there. So I opened the game in explorer. That was the only problem I had. I don't know why you cannot come in.

Every MMO made by a company that has a whole lot of them is always a half baked MMO.
CCP makes EVE ONLY, and now they are adding DUST 514 but it is connected to the EVE Universe. Just join EVE, pick a race, make an enemy and start running from them, and you have BSG.
I wonder if they put religion in the video game too... So they think kids should learn that earth is 6000 yers old and there is a moron god watching over us... btw the end of the series is a big dissapointment, don't watch the last episode!

Play the game. Sure the controls will be tricky at first but you get used to it.

@Lucasones I actually think its very good.... considering its free. The graphics are great and i rarely experience any lag while online. Fair enough its not totaly following the series, but it allows you to determine what happens instead, and atleast offers some fun in playing around with big ships instead of vipers only. The game is definately not shit, it may have a few weak points but overall its much better than i expected.

What i hate is when they advertise games with awesome graphics, but it's just a cut scene and they can make games look more epic than they are. Not that I'm saying that this is a bad game, but would it kill for a little gameplay footage?

I have heard it said (speculated?) that this game is why all fan-made, done-with-a-love-for-the-show BSG objects and BSG RP stuff was pulled from Second Life in such a heavyhanded manner. I have also heard it said that many of those who'd been beta testing this upcoming game, upon hearing of what happened on SL, said to the game developers and to Universal that now they were NOT going to play the game when it goes live. Apparently a lot of others have similar intentions.

@starflame34 I first couldn't open it in firefox because the unity plug-in didn't work there. So I opened the game in explorer. That was the only problem I had. I don't know why you cannot come in.

It is in closed beta right now and it is not to hard to get a key. The wierd part is it's played in the browser. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about playing an MMO in a browser.

Every MMO made by a company that has a whole lot of them is always a half baked MMO.
CCP makes EVE ONLY, and now they are adding DUST 514 but it is connected to the EVE Universe. Just join EVE, pick a race, make an enemy and start running from them, and you have BSG.
