  • The Gaelic people's are Q Celtic the Welsh and Cornish are P Celtic reflecting a change in there language. The term "Celtic" comes from the Greek "Keltio" the Romans borrowed the term from the Greeks. The word Gaul or Gaulish were used by the Romans. The Gaulish Language spoken throughout Europe spread to Britain and Ireland where it evolved into ancient British an ancestor of modern Welsh. Gaelic probobly came from Spain or Iberia along with the Celt-Iberains who migrated there.

  • Look up Celtic, Spain connection.

  • Indeed the Celts had martial arts!! Celts could handle almost any battlefield weapon effectively (at the time), and if you dare come i close, you already lost. If the duirk doesn't kill you, a sharp knee blow to the nuts will bring you to your knees.

  • this looks like the fights i used too have with my brother(no offends btw)

  • That is it? Not impressed at all.

  • @AnSaoiste - the people are Gaelic and so is the culture but history shows Germanic influence and mixing too. Britain is named for a native pre-Celtic deity. The Picts were not mythological, there's tons of evidence for them, including good Roman records - they were also Celts. Almost all Britons are related to each other more closely than they like to admit. Politics and historical divisions remain and keep us weak and divided.

  • Fascinating stuff,I didn't know that.

    Thank you

  • is there any good schools in dublin?

  • @BarackaPool94

unfortunately there's ptractically no bataireacht schools at all right now

  • I've been involved with Asian martial arts my whole life. I've recently formed an interest in Celtic martial arts. I'm glad to see this video. White kids these days don't have an identity. I think a revival in Celtic martial arts can help give them that. In a non-racist way. Which I think is very sad to have to say that.

  • @Worlddrifter racism is a marixst word invented in 1933, they can go fuck themselves if they think they are going to take my heratage away from me with that bullshit word.....god bless the celtic nations

  • @Worlddrifter white kids don't have identity? look at the stereotypical black teenager shirts to their knees, flat yankee cap, shorts down to the shins. look at every asian male teenager with some rediculous hair cut to stand out, what race doesn't have teenagers hungering for an identity? u yourself have been rummaging through useless forms of combat in today's society and why's that? to find an identity through martial arts you racist smart ass

  • @tyler71717 Look at all the white kids trying to be like the black and asian kids you described. Worlddrifter has a great point.

  • @Thedkranock look at the black and Asian kids trying to be white, but if you say that than your apparently a "racist", come on that argument can be swung both ways. And by the way just because Hip Hop and its fashion sense may originate from urban predominantly black neighborhoods doesn't make it black, we are in 2012 every where I look now I see white, black, Asian, Latino kids dressing in urban hip hop fashion sense.

  • @Thedkranock oh and by the way we live in a world where cultures are now crossing and mixing, you become racist by trying to make one part of a culture strictly forbidden to others. Loads of places around the world and other cultures celebrate St. Patricks day yet I dont go out and say hay get your own identity instead I embrace it and think damm my tradition must be worth something if other people around the world enjoy it, plus it makes the day more exciting.

  • @tyler71717 I hate people like you.

  • Scot means Irish.

The very name of the country Scotland comes from the Scotti tribe who went there from Ireland

  • To Enderwiggan1:

    Dia dhuibh!

The people are not Irish, and I am sure of it, because I am an Ceannard (Leader) of the School. My students and other guests of our Event are mostly Russians.

The only person (the kilted lad in the video) of Gaelic blood in the video is me. I am Scottish-Russian and my ancestors came from Eire to Russia in the beginning of the 18th century.

They were Scots, not Irish. But Scottish and Irish Gaels for me is one race.

    Le meas.

  • Only some Scots are Irish - many are Picts and Scandinavian as well by descent but they are all considered Gaelic really...not the same race, the same ethnic group or tribe. There's only one bloody race - Humans lol

  • The MAJORITY of scots were celts from Eire. Only a small minority were indiginous pics or norse men.

  • @Optimusnorm True, yet interesting when you consider all dogs are also all part of the same race.

  • Are these people actually irish, the post is russian?

  • Why is there not more of this on YouTube?

    This rocks.

  • I like this alot, concept is awsome...I m into TKD myself. Love the Iris/Celtic angle

  • i've been dying to know how to pronounce bataireacht. how?!

  • batter-okt

  • thankyouuuu.

  • To know that an Irishman hasn't heard of Bataireacht is a shame, but it just means that it needs to be retaught and promoted much in the same way de Valera tried pushing for a cultural reemergence and I think it will one day become common knowledge in not just Ireland but perhaps even in the UK and beyond.

  • Oh! an Irishman's heart is as stout as shillelagh, It beats with delight to chase sorrow and woe;

When the piper plays up, then it dances gaily, And thumps with a whack to leather a foe

  • Thanks.Did'nt know anything like it existed.

  • I would love to do Bataireacht but There ain't any clubs in australia.

  • Never heard of it and I'm irish.

  • same as
