Her accent here isn't anything. It's impossible to define what she is trying to achieve. She's a good actress, but she sold herself short, distracting people with the accent. Au naturel would have been better.

Whatever she's trying to sound like isn't working, I'm sorry, it's just true. If it's supposed to be English it's rubbish, if it's supposed to be posh American it's rubbish, too.

Actually, Mischa Barton moved from England to America when she was around 4 years old, and grew up there. So, she has an American accent, and this is her trying to do an English accent.

So, this isn't her trying to be American- this is her trying to be English.

I think what it is, is Mischa is playing an American but because she was born in england, her parents are english and she spent time here...she still has a British "twang"... I noticed it on the OC.. It sounds a tiny bit odd but I don't think she's trying to play any particular accent..that's just how she speaks.

I've worked out what I find annoying about the whole 'english accent' thing:

It's people who aren't English thinking that her accent is perfect (I really don't mean you, it's usually Americans).

I mean, how could they possibly know if it's good or bad?? Mischa's English accent isn't great. She's too stereotypical and she elongates her vowels the way Americans do. It's totally obvious to a Brit. I just can't stand that Americans can't hear it.
