  • do you have to use a ubec? ive never used one before

  • Sounds like hell. Cool.

  • when i search for the bec i can only find ubec. But it looks the same it is turnigy and it is 3 amp with 5 amp burst. will this still work instead of regular bec?

  • @RCLuva that is exactly what I used in the plane. There is a direct link to the UBEC I used in the video information bar below video.

  • I've got a turnigy 3648 on my stryker with a catle 125 A esc , hyperion 5S 3300 mah, 45c/90c burst Bat ,10 a bec , 7-5 apc . The esc is set to normal timing , and I keep getting a bad on and off surge as I throttle up.I had it on 20 degrees at first , then witht he surging I set it back to normal timimng and the surge is still there. Funny thing is it won't surge when I'm holding it in my hand , only when it's up flying . Once it's at full it's fine . . Will the surge kill the motor?

  • @pencon61 Not sure if it will kill the motor but is probably isn't good for it. I had a similar surge issue with mine till I set the motor timing to the highest setting then it went away. We found this motor runs best set at 30 degrees timing and the PWM at 16KHz on the hk90/100amp esc. If you can go higher than 20 degrees on your esc try it.

  • hi instructions ive found on the net aint very good and the only thing it says about the timing is changing 5-1 = 2 to 4 pole motors

    5-2 = 6 to 8 pole motors

    5-3 = 10 to 14 pole outrunner

    5-4 = Hi RPM outrunner (I think >20k)

i havent got a clue what poles are. im new to all this so its all sounding odd to me.,

can i ask what rpm yours is revving to and that way i can find out about mine because maybe my watt meter is crap. was bought frokm china for $25 delivered ye see

  • @sarahlouconnolly set the timing to the 5-4=Hi RPM setting. This motor definitely turns more than 20k.

  • hi there after seeing your video i went ahead and bought the exact same setup, but instead i got the zippy 2650mah lipo thats all. and my prop is a 7x7 graupner speed prop because thats the closest i could find..

the thing is, yours comes out at 1600watts, i bought a watt meter and mine is only 1250 watts? any ideas? thanks

  • @sarahlouconnolly Check the timing on your esc. I had mine set to the highest setting 30 degrees. It could also be your batteries if they have a low c rating. The ones I use are rated at 40c. Also check to make sure you have good solder conections. The Graupner prop may be a bit more efficient too, but I would think the extra pitch would even things out.

  • Thanks so much! You are very helpful! I promise this will be the last question I have for you and I won't bother you no more. Will I need to reverse the shaft/motor like you did in one of your other videos?

  • @calebsmedia no need to reverse the motor shaft. The motor is a dirrect bolt on replacement. You will need to cut the enter and exit holes into the rear of the fuselage to run the motor wires out side the fuselage as shown in the video to avoid them from rubbing on the motor can.

  • @rcFoamFighters Hi, really nice vids, But How do you mix the Elevons.. I have FS CT6B 6Ch Radio which requires a Computer to program it.. i cant get elevon mixing...

  • @MrRCking84 you will need to refer to the instructions manual for your radio as each radio works a little differently. If you cant get it to work you can also try using elevon Y mixer cords. You can usually get these at the local hobby shop or look them up online.

  • One last question i thought of...the specs from hobbyking says max current 50A so why the 90-100 A ESC? Could you get by with an 80A or so?

  • @calebsmedia if you watch the our "1600watt FunJet shoots for 140mph at Hermann Airport" video you will see the watt meter test at the end show a reading of 92a @1597watts. And to answer your next question, yes this motor can take it!! Just be sure to do a cool down lap after each short full thottle pass.

  • Thanks for the info! I have two more dumb questions...how did you paint your funjet,, what type of paint did you use?

And on the prop for the funjet is it the regular 7x6 prop or the pusher 7x6 prop? I heard there is a difference. Thanks!

  • @calebsmedia I didn't paint my FunJet,, I used colored packing tape from tape brothers on line store. The prop is an APC 7x6 sport prop for fuel motors. We never use pusher props on our planes. You can easily reverse the rotation of a brushless motor by switching two of the three motor wires around so there is really no need to use pusher props. Just make sure the side of the prop with the numbers is facing forward and the prop is rotating so it is pushing the plane.

  • Funjet ultra or normal?

  • @Renatobrasilful this is the normal version of the FunJet.

  • @rcFoamFighters I have an ultra :P

  • Hello! First off love watching your videos!

I am looking into buying a funjet and setting it up like yours. I had a few questions about your setup though.

Would there be anything you would change about your setup now?

What size and type servos did you use with how much torque?

Where is the CG on your setup?

And did you have Dual Rates setup and if so how much through did you setup on your 140 mph passes?

Sorry for so many questions I just want to make sure everything is right before I purchase

  • @calebsmedia The FunJet comes with a great set of build instructions. If you set the rates and cg per the instructions you will have no problems flying at 140mph. Afterwards you can crank the rates up if it is to docile for you. As for servos I recommend at least 12g metal gear ones if you're going to fly this fast. I got some Corona 939mg servos from HobbyKing to put in mine. They are noisy but work great. You could also use the HobbyKing brand HK 939mg if you want quieter ones.

  • It doesn't seem to be revving out like it should so if anyone can give me the right Catle settings in general it would be much appreciated .I'm using a 5S 3300mah and at full throttle there's some surging going on

  • I going to be running this motor in my Stryker and I was wondering , on a Phoenix 125A what should the timing be? I have it set at 15 because the Castle software only goes to 20 . I heard some guys are running the 3648 at 30 .. any advice?

  • @pencon61 30 degrees works great for this motor! If you cant go up to 30 set it as high as you can go.

  • @rcFoamFighters Would the timing settings be the sme on a turnigy esc as a Phoenix 125a ? I wonder if newer firmware would have the higher setting?

  • @pencon61 not sure if they are the same, but you should try the highest timing setting first to see if it works.

  • how to prevent ur hand being cut by the prop when u luanch?

  • @bobmaxiao I've never had an issue with this. I just hold the plane near the cg and walk the throttle up till it feels like it wants to fly out of my hand then give it a firm toss. If you are concerened with this then I would suggest using a bungee launcher.

  • @rcFoamFighters If your concerned and want to hand launch do like your doing a fast pitch with a baseball throw it at 30 degrees up nice and round and curve your arm down in aloop shape. your hand will be clear.

  • Good video, I am going to make a 5 or 6s funjet. Did you do anything else to the airframe to make it stronger or will it take 6S standard? Thanks

  • @dukesy394 I've never tried it with 6s so you will need to explore this yourself. It held up fine on 5s.

  • Hello i purchased this motor and ESC to build a mean parkzone striker but after watching this vid wowo! I only have a few questions about the Funjet. I have never seen a fun jet fly and am curious about potential prop strikes while landing? Looks like the prop can hit the ground to me if its straight up and down.

  • @BrushlessNitroSlayer It does happen but not to often as long as you are off the thottle when you land. The prop will ususally rotate to the horizonal position when it hits the ground. The only time it breaks is if it's straight up and down.

  • I was wondering if there is a way to set the timing to 30 and the pm to 16 for the hk ss90-100 with the turnigy programming card. I only see 3 settings on the card for timing ...low med and high and I dont see any settings for pwm on the card. Do these have to be set using the transmitter aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggg please say no please let there be a way to do this with the card. Please don't make me go through that again. :)

  • @jerkworld we haven't been able to find a program card that will work with these esc yet. I always have to program them with the transmitter. Be sure to point a fan at the esc when programming as it does get quite hot during programming.

  • @rcFoamFighters Thankyou for the quick response. I had heard that they get pretty hot while programming so thanks for the fan idea....will do.

  • @rcFoamFighters I think I read in the reviews at hobbyking something about using a 3 cell battery while programming to help keep the temp down...I might try that too.

  • @rcFoamFighters One other thing I thought I would run by you all. With the amount of power the 1600watt setup has would a bungy launcher be safer to launch with or are those things more trouble than they are worth?

  • @jerkworld I've never had any problems hand launching the funJet with this setup. Just remember you don't want to attempt to launch at full throttle. With this much power it will rip the plane right out of your hand. It's best to walk the throttle up till you start feeling the plane want to fly out of your hand then give it a gentle toss at about a 30 to 40 degree incline. Once your hand is back on the control stick throttle up and climb out. I've never used a bungee launcher with this plane.

  • @rcFoamFighters Well I guess there is nothing left to do but go do it. I have been practicing on the phoenix sim and I have the settings on the sim showing a top speed of 170 mph but compaired to the videos on you tube that I have watched of the real funjet even at much lower speeds I have a feeling the sim is much more forgiving and docile than the real thing. Thank you again for your help

  • @jerkworld if you set the control surface throws per the instruction manual you will be surprised at how docile and easy this plane flies, even at these speeds.

  • man, you guys sure do a good job with your project demos. Thanks.

  • Your plane would probably consumed a lot less power at flight because of the propeller unloading at speed. Thanks to the funjet low drag airframe, this can happened. Try to use an on board power monitor systems to measured the currents at flight, if you have the opportunity.

    Nice video.

  • hi on my fun jet i have a 500 watt brushless outrunner a 3s 3000mah 35c lipo and that dose 108mph on a5x5 and 57mph on a4.1x4.1 prop

  • my fun jet has a 500watt bushless out runner and a 80amp esc and a 3s 11.1v 3000mah 35c lipo and that doseabout 108.7 mph

  • could you tell me what BECs do or are used for? I new to this

  • mrbuki77 BEC or "battery elimination curcuit" is used so you do not have to use a seperate battery for your radio gear on the plane. It taps into the battery flight pack and reduces the voltage to your radio rx, servos, etc.

  • @mrbuki77 hola.un todos.he greeting for all materials purchased this video to ride in my Funjet, I like to know what type of thruster and numbering I have to put it, if someone wants to give me some advice before you mount on Funjet I would greatly appreciate, thanks to

  • Hello Frank,

I have a question i hope you can help me.

I got the same set-up in my Funjet when i saw your vid and i realy like it, so thanks for sharing! And it flies great!

Now the question, i just got a Turnigy Watts Up and went testing al my planes with it. The Watt's up shows also about 85amps but not 1500watts only 1000watts.

    How can this be?

I can adjust the timing on the HK 90-100amp ecs but i dont know what to select.

    Timing Mode Setting: 1 / 7 / 15 / 30

    PWM setting: 8K/16K

  • slashyful adjust the timing to 30 degrees and the PWM to 16K. If you still aren't pulling around 1600watts then go up in prop pitch just a little. I was running an APC 7x6 sport prop.

  • @rcFoamFighters

    Yes it worked!

    90amps and 1525watts

It's not good that they dont include a manual with the ESC, most of the settings where wrong. I found a manual on the web (can't place the link here youtube gives a error)

16KHz – For most out runner motors (Default Setting 8KHz NOT GOOD)

15- For 10-14 Pole Outrunner Motors (Default Setting 1 - For 2-4 Pole Inrunner Motors NOT GOOD)

I have also set the LVC on 5 cell lipo and NOT THE Default setting Nimh

    etc.etc.etc

    Thanks

  • would a 2350kv inrunner motor be okay to run with this setup?

  • theeverythinggeek828 yes it should work fine. On 3 cells use a 6x4 or 6x5.5 prop. With 4 cells use a 5x5 or 4.75x 4.75 prop. this should still get you in the tripple digits!

  • @rcFoamFighters ok. im using 4 cells on a 60 amp esc with a 6x4 prop and it seems fine. But I am thinking of upgrading to 5s. Btw the motor is a Typhoon RC 2W-30 EDF Motor.

  • I guess you should be able to get a reasonable flight time because the propeller will unload at speed consuming less current. If the plane has low drag hi-speed design, you get good efficiencies at speed.

  • You realize that's almost 2 horse power you have on that little plane right? Man, that's crazy!

You could build an electric bike with that motor, it's such a beast for that plane.

  • Dear Santa

  • hi,

did anyone make the setup with that turnigy 3648 engine? We have exactly the same setup as the one above, just installed on funjet ultra, but we get vibrations from half throtle and up. Vibrations occur no matter if the prop is installed or not. when we test the engine alone (not mounted in the funjet), there are no vibrations.. Any ideas how to fix that?

  • couldnt you use an in-runner motor

  • multicolor0 yes you could use an inrunner, that's what the manufacture of the FunJet recommends. I like outrunnners because they make more torque and can spin a bigger prop. They usually weigh less too.

  • Flying starts at 7:00

  • Hello mate, with this setup how much time you can fly? And the battery after how many flights goes dead? Thank you for this damn good setup, I'll buy it very soon!!!!!!! :) What propeller is this?

  • illuminatorix I never really timed the runs with this plane but I would guess I was getting 4-5 minutes with the 5 cell 2200mAh batteries I used. You should get many flights out of them if you take care of them. Bigger batteries would be too heavy and difficult to fit in the plane. I used an APC 7x6 sport prop for fuel planes not electric.

  • Comment removed

  • Ya'll act like you invented something, the people that make the electronics and batteries are the innovators. You are just like any of us, buying and flying.

  • "Man, that thing's impossible to film dude"

    Epic.

  • Bing80 seem the faster you fly the more this becomes a problem, lol!

  • thanks to yall< this is the setup im gonna order for my funjet!

  • Thanks, I am on my second FJ with this set. The first did not go so well. Im left handed so I have to have a friend throw the plane

  • camarochvy21 sorry to her that about the first one. You might want to try a bungee launcher.

  • Guys, whats your radio setup? ie. expo and dual rates?

  • camarochvy21 on my DX6i I have the low rates set at 60% for both the rate and expo. On the high settings it is at 100% rates and 60% expo. I use the low rates for clocking speed passes.

  • Great mod!

What kind of flight time do you get though?

  • thestrugglewithin I never really timed the runs with this plane but i would guess I was gettting 4-5 minutes with the 5 cell 2200mAh batteries I used.

  • @rcFoamFighters

Hmm ok. I'm new to RC planes, is this that kind of flight time considered short for this kind of plane?

  • thestrugglewithin at these speeds it's long enough, lol!!

  • I used your setup in my #2 FJ. It is awesome.......goes Vertical, out of site. Added dual rudders and CF supports to wing and tail.

One prob, from 1/2 to full throttle, severe torque. The FJ rolls left. We will counteract with a throttle/aileron mix. Have you had this problem? If so, how did you fix?

    Thx much,

    Phil

  • @BocaPhil I have everything but the airframe now, but I've also been hearing about this torque roll. Have you had a chance to do the mix, and if so, how is it working out?

  • @maynardr6

We did try a 30% mix.....way too much throw on the ailerons, it rolled to knife-edge or inverted.......

I have adjusted the mix to 10% and we will try it out on Sunday. I'll be happy to report back.

    Phil........

  • BocaPhil I did not have too much trouble with torque roll on mine . I just gave it a few clicks with the radio trim tabs to counter the roll and it flys fine. Are you using a bigger diameter prop than the recomended 7 inch prop? If so this could make a big difference in torque roll. I use an APC 7x6 sport prop for fuel motors, not the electric one.

  • @BocaPhil Ok, So I've copied this setup exactly except I have the 2650mah version of that battery. I've tried 3 times to fly this thing and I can't. It torque rolls so hard under power. I just got back from my 3rd attempt where I plowed it head on into the ground. Heavy fiberglassing saved everything including the battery, but I think I'm gonna get a different motor and battery. It's just a constant battle for control. Have you had better luck?

  • @maynardr6 @maynardr6

I've tried 2 or 3 flights with no joy....too many hard landings. I have a friend who can fly it no problem. He anticipates the torque roll and deals with it. We have tried mixing Ailerons with throttle......NG. Gyro on one aileron..waste of money. The current setup is a Mix of throttle with Rudders......this seems to have more potential. After a test flight, I increased the Rudder mix. We have not tested this setup.

    Thx,

    Phil

  • i copied your setup and i used hitec hs-82 mg's and they were ok but the standard control linkages bend during flight and then it goes out of trim because of the bending and you might want to put a new spar in the wing because it flex's like a bitch.

  • cod4madass thanks for the suggestions. The plane does get quite a bit heavier with this power system setup.

  • hi guys, can anyone offer advice on hand launching this bad boy, torque roll seems to be the issue for me (may be cg to far back).. do you launch full throttle or go 30-40% and launch at less verticle angle? or can you programm torque roll out with an elevon mix? (i'm using dx6i).

Keep up the good work Frank - love the vids.

    great vids

  • desklamp1 you pretty much answered your own question. Also if what you mentioned does not work for you I usually just trim the torque roll out with the radio trim tabs till it flies nice and level.

  • Hello Frank,

First i have to tell you thanks for sharing the great info!

I have flown the 4s setup and that flies great! I had expected it little faster but it's great!

I just flown the 5s setup you have and WOW it's just so fast! With the 4s setup i give full power and it goes up in the air like a rocket, but this at 75% power it's just a ballistic missile hahaha

Now i have to show it to my brother he's also into rc flying and he has a JetTiger but the 5s funjet (ultra) will blow him away!

  • Thanks guys for all your help!!!! I got my FJ in the air today and boy what fun!!!!! Its soooo fast! Do you recommend a different prop to go even faster? Thanks again!

  • camarochvy21 I would not recommend propping up if you already are using an apc 7x6 sport prop and 2200mAh 5 40c 5 cell batteries. The batteries will not take the extra amp draw of more prop. Paul does use a 7x8 sport prop with this motor on his Super Nova Jet but he is using 2650mAh 40c 5 cells. Don't blow your batteries up! Get bigger ones.

  • how many total servo extensions did you use for your setup? I FINALLY got all my stuff from hobbyking and i cant wait to get started!

  • camarochvy21 I used a total of three. two for the servoes and one for the esc. The esc extension was much shorter.

  • Did you reinforce the airframe some how to be able to withstand these speeds ?

  • i3dm nothing other than what was in the video.

  • Guys, will you test the new funjet ultra? with this setup it would be a real racer

  • ikdjflijds not sure, maybe.

  • Thanks!!! Keep it up guys!

  • camarochvy21 more videos coming!

  • Guys, I bought the same Turnigiy motor that yall are using in this vid. Do i need to modify it in any way? Can i just use it as is? thanks

  • camarochvy21 No mods to the motor, use it as it is just like I showed in the video.

  • hey right now i m using hxt 2700 kv motor with jeti 40 amp speed controller with 2200mah 3 cell battery its good fun but its not that fast if i want to change my motor to Turnigy2836 brushless Outrunner 2350kv will i have to change my esc and battery as well or they will work fine with the new motor

    fiqabumm 11 seconds ago

  • fiqabumm this mototor draws right around 40amps. I would recommend using a 50 to 60 amp esc and 2200mAh 30c or higher rated batteries. Anything less than this would be taking the chance of over heating and either puffing the batteries or burning the esc. You may be able to use what you have but would need to do some static tests with a watt meter and prop down till you were safely below 40amps.

  • wow that was cool . .nice vid thnx for sharing!!!!!the sound is so cool!!!!

  • Hello Frank,

Another question here. The HK 90-100Amp esc's are out of stock for a while can i use a Turnigy 80Amp esc i already have on of those.

I see that you are using 3.5mm gold plugs for the motor and esc if is see it right, are those good? Or must i use 4mm gold plugs?

    Cheers, love your vids!

  • slashyful if you use the 80Amp esc you should prop down as this system was pulling over 80amps on a 7x6 prop. Try a Graupner 6x6 speed prop and test with a watt meter first before you throw the plane in the air. I would hate to hear you burnt your esc up. If you don't have watt meter you really should get one. HobbyKing has them dirt cheap. As for the connectors go with the 4mm to be safe.

  • Do you guys have ANY idea how long it will take for HK to stock the Turnigy 3648 and the 5 cell flight max battery?

  • camarochvy21 sorry I can only guess when they will be available. Usually HobbyKing restocks every couple weeks but can take over a month on some items. It all depends on when they do their next production run.

  • km/h?

  • Guys, I ordered everything that you got. Everything is on back order but oh well. How long are your flight times?

  • camarochvy21 actually I never timed the flights with this setup. I would guess that the run times were around 4 - 5 minutes which is plenty at these speeds. That's long enough for me to get my adrenaline fix, lol!

  • Hi rcFoamFighters, first off i just wanna say your videos and reviews are awsome! But do you have your 5 cell setup funjet fiberglassed at all? besides the beefed up back end is there any other strength modifications you did, Thanks.

  • conglomonova I did not fiberglass my FunJet. The only other thing that I can think of that has added a little strength and rigidity would be the tape I used to cover and color the plane. It did seem to stiffen things up a bit. Other than that there are no other mods to the structure of the plane. There are a lot of other people out there though that do fiberglass their FunJets.

  • @rcFoamFighters hey right now i m using hxt 2700 kv motor with jeti 40 amp speed controller with 2200mah 3 cell battery its good fun but its not that fast if i want to change my motor to Turnigy2836 brushless Outrunner 2350kv will i have to change my esc and battery as well or they will work fine with the new motor

  • @fiqabumm thanks for the help just one more question i m new to this electric thing if i buy a 2450 4s 20c battery for it with 60 amp controller or i need to buy the 30c battries i really dont understand those c ratings

  • @rcFoamFighters cool thanks for the information and i guess your airframe would be lighter theoretically

  • conglomonova my FunJet weighed in at 2.5 pounds. I have seen some glassed ones weigh 3 pounds or more.

  • Can you post the link were you got the BEC? Thanks

  • camarochvy21 there are links to all these parts including the bec in the video information bar. You just need to click the expand button below this video.

  • Thanks for the info. I am going to try this setup and let you know how it goes. You guys are great, please keep it up

  • what receiver are you using?

  • camarochvy21 I use a Spektrum AR500 full range receiver and my DX6i transmitter with the FunJet. At these speeds you want to make sure to use a full range receiver otherwise you my find yourself out of range before you know it.

  • great video and review guys. Do you have any suggestions for a turnigy setup on 4s for speed?

  • Seems to me if you could run a slightly smaller prop you'd get more speed. You'd lower the amp draw as well,no?

  • did he look like a rock on landing afraid to show that to us,because Igot everyting and I just order today a air frame of the funjet let me now PLEASE

  • garfl911 Please have a look at the next video of my FunJet "1600watt FunJet Shoots for 140mph at Hermann Airport" you can see how the landing goes. The plane was clocked at over 140mph with this same setup. Landing is a bit faster but manageable. This FunJet weighs in at 2.5 pounds but I have seen some guys fly them fine at over 3 pound fully fiber glassed with even bigger motors.

  • Dont get it, i have 137mph on a 3s 850watt setup, why load a FunJet with heavy 6s setup!?

  • Jockko I can think of almost 90 reasons why, lol! My complete 1600watt power system, Motor, esc, bec, and 5 cell liPo battery costs less then $90!! That's why I did it and 1600watts sounds cool!! I actually like the way the plane flies with the extra weight. It doesn't get blown around on windy days and feels rock solid in the air!

  • @rcFoamFighters

Ok, Fun is a good resone ;)

  • I'll seconds that, I usually fly with 4s 4000mah AUW 1kg but I tried to set up my new FJ to take 4s 2200 as well as the 4000mah lipos. I didnt like the way it flew with the lighter batteries. Especially as it was windy. So Im going to double them up to make 4400mah 4s :) The weight is a good thing!

  • northrnmonkey you are right about the weight being a good thing!! Weight especially in a fast plane adds stability and also helps build and keep momentum. It also helps the plane penetrate the air better. I think most people got stuck in the old mindset that everything has got to be as light as it can be to fly well. This was the case back before Lipo batteries and brushless motors but now a days we don't have to worry about not having enough power in an electric plane.

  • whats the Turnigy 3-5amp ubec used for?

  • AntoBoesi a UBEC is a Battery Elimination Circuit and allows the main power battery to produce a lower voltage to drive the receiver and servos. Most speed controllers have them built in but this one does not. It is also recommended to use a seperate UBEC when running more than 3 cells.

  • love the jet liner in the back ground

  • total insanity...well done..

  • Yes Dave I have to agree with you, It is total insanity but I can't help it cause I love the feeling I get when that plane goes blasting by!!! This is too much fun, lol!!!

  • Faster and faster!

With the size of that motor I think you will beat that last flight.

    Keep up the good work!

    Dad

  • Cool dad that's what I like to hear! Hoping to hit 140mph out at Herman Airport this weekend. At least that's my goal. Wish us luck the weather stays good. I think I started something as Paul is making a new plane with this same power system. The speed wars are on again!!!

  • What was the name of that song that the Exploited used to sing, "Speed Freak!" All I can say is, You show is crazy fool! Hehehe. Nice video and congrats on new speed record.

  • Crazy like a as can be my brother, lol!!!! No, really Mike it's a lot of fun especially that massive adrenaline rush!! Can't wait to do it again!!! Should be going out to Hermann Airport this weekend if the weather holds up. It's supposed to warm up to 45 degrees. Perfect temperature to push the power system without overheating.

  • Who needs gas motors LOL

I bet in some spots it was foing well over 130 but when its going that fast how can you control it to get a good radar of it.

    But wow thats insane!

  • ratdoghippy you are right it was very difficult to get the plane down low enough to get a good pass because there are trees at both ends of the park where we normally fly. I should be able to get a much better reading out at Herman Airport because there are no obstructions. The only problem with that is trying not to fly too far out and losing orientation.

  • woow that was some serious speed :D

btw does anyone knows a good 2.4ghz transmitter for a reasenable prize?

    Thx ^^

  • droogkloot666 the Spektrum DX6i is very reasonable at just under $200 but I don't like the issues with receiver low voltage cut outs. Paul just ordered a new Airtronics RDS 8000 which has 8 channels. You can usually get them on sale for around $150 all the reviews I have read on this radio have been good and it does not have the low voltage cut out issues of the Spectrum.

  • oke thx ill probably gonna buy the airtronics, at first i was planning to a hobbyking brand transmitter but that is poor quality (at least thats what ive read)

ill keep you posted of my progress with the build along

  • hiya fellas plz put in 1 of ur vids the fastest speed of a electric plane (if u know it)

im sure we would all like 2 know and 2 watch u break it at some point

    PPPPPLLLLLZZZZZZ Brat

  • bratstarr at the moment I couldn't tell you exactly what the fastest electric plane is or how fast it goes. I do know that their are a few claming to run at almost 200mph or more. I'll have to check into it a little more.

  • wow thats some speed...id love 2 c u guys at 200 clicks

"dont" reply 2 this but if u ever do find out the fastest electric then just let us know in 1 of ur vids so we can all know and c how ur doin cuz we all watch and love ur vids so we can all keep tabs on ur progress

keep up the great work and good luck

    Brat

    ps gaggin 4 the jupiter

    go 2 hermann NOW

    were shakin with anticipation

  • Frank, that thing is smokin' fast especially if you didn't get a good reading with your gun. I predict that with a fresh battery and some new nerves your going to hit 140mph. Good job

  • gripchion I'm hoping you are right cause 140mph is what I was really aiming for. I think it still has a lot left in it. Especially since the reading was just before the batteries dropped off and the run was not straight at the radar gun.

  • Holy SMOKES!!! Incredible Frank! That thing is a speed FIEND! What a cool video of an incredible machine! Can't wait to see it at Hermann's! 5 stars for ya boss!

  • SEBratt that's exactly what I was thinking after the first couple of blasts of the throttle!! This plane is too much fun to fly and I can't wait to take it back out again!!!

  • Wowzers. You guys are gonna be hitting the limits of foam pretty soon, you know. 130 MPH for an Elapor plane is already asking for trouble, eh? How much more speed before the flex becomes a problem?

If you go through YT and Vimeo you can find all kinds of video of high power rockets that destroyed the fins in flight because they started shimmying under stress. Let's hope your plane doesn't do that!

  • SomeUselessGeek that sounds like a cool experiment!! Actually I think this plane handles the speed very well. I guess you haven't seen any of the other videos out there of the FunJet doing 150mph+ and the RC Groups forum thread where someone is targeting 200mph. The speeds I'm flying at are well explored by other FunJet pilots and most of them don't start glassing their planes till they hit the 150s

  • Okay, then! Bring on the 6S! Heh. I suspect there are going to be some physical limits imposed by just how big a motor you can get into the back of a Funjet. Also, the transfer of torque from the motor mount into the airframe could become an issue, y'know? At what point does the motor depart the aircraft and start flying on its own? Hoo, boy!

  • NUTS! Man that is too fast for me!

  • AnyAirRC as they say "Try it you might like it". No, but really it's the best adrenaline rush out there!!! Once you get addicted to the speed you will always want to go faster!!

  • I´m looking forward to see this plane at the airport. 5*

btw 130Mp/h is about 210Km/h, this is really fast, best regards from germany

  • xwingfan 210km/h wow that's cool!! Does that mean I'm in the 200 club, lol!!!

  • hey man that plane must be really hard to see or even tell there it is as its soo fast nice work frank

  • Henal89 man this plane gets small super fast!! I will be doing something with bright colors to make it more visible.

  • Frank you are the man for sure with speeds like that man ;-) i just watched this video twice now lol and it's in my fav's,i'm looking forward to seeing you fly that bad boy out at the airport you fly at ;-) 5*

  • Thanks for the 5* and favoriting the video startazz. I hope to get the plane out to Hermann Airport this coming weekend if the weather is good. Can't wait to get a better run at the radar gun!!!

  • holy smoke frank i could do with a couple of those lol 5*

  • FlyHighRC you cant beat these motors for under $20 thats the best deal I have come across!!! They are out of stock at the moment but I will be getting more when they are restocked!!!

  • Rock!...ROCKKK!...sweet Franko!
