  • They had awesome make up on the sixties. They were real artists.

  • i know where i'll be in 40 years

    DEAD!

  • fuck your shitty gay ass music

  • @SECx8xProductions Wrong. On every level. The 1968 film stands up as a milestone in science fiction and will be forever lauded as a classic.. and a great film. Even people of "this generation" can appreciate older movies. You don't define your generation, sorry.

  • and yet the 40 year old move is so much better.

  • I am assuming the theme of this video is sarcasm.

  • do one for now

  • 2011;)

  • in 1968 we had ape costumes,in 2001 we had ape costumes.

what the fuck is the point of this video?

  • 1:30 Ape Micheal Jackson.

  • haha nice video

  • 1968 is the ''BEST"

    2001 is the ''SHIT''

  • This music makes you appreciate the mute button.

  • then compare both of those to rise of the planet of the apes 2011

  • THE 1968 FILM = ABSOLUTE CLASSIC CINEMA

THE 2001 FILM = THE BIGGEST PILE OF SHIT REMAKE EVER MADE ONLY EQUALED BY THE OMEN 2006

  • @2011TREADSTONE You are SO RIGHT! I agree 100%

  • still prefer the original...althought rise of the apes is pretty damn good.

  • @dawson850 Yep ! Agreed. 'Rise of POTA' totally made up for the 2001 version. I remember CRINGING at certain scenes of that turd of a film.

  • @SECx8xProductions

how would u know that? evolution takes a lot of paths, the chances that we evolve in simply smarter beings are just the same as that we evolve in creatures with none of the characteristics that we have ever seen...on this planet at least... but with the scientifical progress we did in only the last 50 years, the first one is just more likely... 50 years ago we didnt even have color tv, now we can watch tv online, in hd, blu ray, listen to music on a device that's 3by2 inches

  • 1968 rules and im only 18. ten year loooking back 2001 planet of the apes was very boring in 1968 you see better stuff

  • Hehe, the 2001 looks outdated compared to the 2011 one..

  • ok, stupid song, good movie, and mark wahlburg, good actor i give it a 5, as in it sucked and i cant believe i watched this but otherwise great movie i watched it last nite.

  • This is a pretty good vid, but still that one chimp/being looks like Michael Jackson.......creepy.

  • @SECx8xProductions haha well sucks for you becuase im Atheist too! xD

and all i had to do is use my brain, logic, get rid of the fear, and read the bible :P

  • @SECx8xProductions what you call fact i call lucky... What dont you get about that? i never said it was false...

Evolution is real, i agree... from the billions of years of us evolving from then and now is lucky as hell to me! :D

I never said otherwise... Anyway, i only believe in science observation.

  • @SECx8xProductions haha thats lucky to me!! Be happy i didnt say magic or God! xDD

-I only like the 01 version bcuz of the monkey suits and a bit of the plot but you cant beat the original... and the last movie of this year BEATED the original! xD

  • @SECx8xProductions Touche! but it will all depend.. and ants are that way becuase they never evolved to such a limit to make neccesery... we are like this becuase of pure luck of evolving through our envirnment to a point of wanting to learn more! either way the new movie is amazing! better then the 2001 version!

  • @SECx8xProductions Gosh don't even get me started on this. 1st it's only a movie and only idiot thinks people actually act that way. It's not realistic. And finally guess how many peoples were shown retarded in USA films. Chinese, Russian, Japanese, etc. So yeah that is really stupid :E.

  • @SECx8xProductions well actually there has been studdies of brain size not matter.... You see no matter what size your brain is it doesnt matter how much information it can hold... Science fact my friend! ;P

but again who knows.. i could be wrong xD

  • @SECx8xProductions Besides don't you think if movies were realistic none would go and watch them?

  • @SECx8xProductions The point is that you didn't understand the movie. The apes were quite silly but Caesar was born with the drug and he had more drug during his life. At the end he could even speak a little which means his brain developed alot. He was the one giving orders and the apes were just there to understand. He became smarter than most humans but he was limited by his ape body.

  • @SECx8xProductions ye I've said that. I kind of liked it even though it wasn't special. I guess it reminded me of the previous ones

  • 2 Things - 1968 version may have had worse effects, but it was a much better movie, also, crap song.

  • @SECx8xProductions one mystery less :E gg. Do you really wanna see it happen? Cause even if they show all this it won't fulfill your curiosity. And if they show it'll look retarded cause all we gonna see is going to be apes space hopping there and here. All you have to do is imagine everything else :E. Btw I liked the new movies even though it was different.

  • @SECx8xProductions If you were them how would you explain it?

  • @SECx8xProductions kind of yes, kind of no because everytime there is a mystery people think they'll reveal it in sequel.

  • @tundraman217 Sorta.

It took the concept of "Caesar" and ran with it. But other than that, they are completely different movies. With the exception of having an ape named Caesar.. they are completely different. Even the way Caesar came to be is different.

  • @SECx8xProductions Movies can't go on and on at some point they have to stop. And it's intresting to leave a mystery behind.

  • @SECx8xProductions Don't you understand that your sense of everything will spoil the feeling? It's better to dream about what happened. This makes it a mistery. That's why people were surprised when they saw

    apes on earth.

  • I agree the music suck as well as Tim Burton's movie

  • Guess what we've done in 10 years?! NEW FUCKING APES MOVIE!

  • @SECx8xProductions The ending was cool

  • I'm proud to be the 100th dislike of this video...

  • cant wait for the new one coming out!(:

  • its not 40 years its more like 33 years.

  • i love the new one . mark walburg is great( : & super excited for the prequal! august 5th

  • im sorry but i don't get it are you tryin to oint out that the 2001 tim burton vomit looked visually better?

well fuckwad whaddya expect with the evolution of cameras in 33 years

burton should stickk to his sometime annoying gothy stuff

you had far too much time on our hands and you chose to spend it making this comparison instead of jacking off?

    son i am dissapoint

  • @perediam lus th supposed twist ending at the end was fucking stupid

was it trying to male any kind of point fuck no

do i see you tryin to point out. no? well i wonder fucking why

  • 1968

  • the new take on the movie is gonna suck ass. i'm sorry to say i think the 2001 movie had a far more epic story telling but thats only because i grew up with it

  • It's been less than 40 years and now look at what is happening with this "series" I'm so excited about the new movie!

  • The Tim Burton movie was a disaster. It was horrible.

  • 40 years later, some twat named Tim Burton remade a classic into a pile of shit. I still dig the Remake for various reasons, but it could've been much, much, much better.

  • this is stupid.

  • They ruined it by having Nova talk and being so voilent and human.

  • usuallu garbage from this guy

  • Tim Burton should have been shot for his crap film.

Thankfully, the coming film might - MIGHT - add some fucking life to the franchise for the first time in over 40 years.

  • what is the song?

    i like more 1968

  • why do you have to make this a music video. With shit music.

  • @Neoli2300 311 is a great band. You should check them out.

  • @Neoli2300 hey 311 is good

  • The makeup, while not as realistic, is far better in the older ones because it's much more iconic

  • the original was a masterpiece, and the remake was total-cheese -- the make-up was even better in '68, the chick-apes in 01 just look ridiculous -- and as far as story goes, tim burton has turned far too many films into nothing but 90-minute-live-action-versions-of-scoobey-doo -- so shallow & infantile (imo, his best work was "ed wood") -- the social questions of the original were way deeper; what if those at the bottom, rise to the top? what if we are treated as we have treated others?

  • both movies are fukin stupid...i can only find meaning in the idea to stop mistreating animals but then again its apes ruling over humans..how retarded is that (btw i dont give a fuck what you think and i m not going to read your answers)

  • Well it's been 10 years and the new one is out later this year! The Rise of The Planet of the Apes... Better quality apes than 2001

  • @sasnakes001 the story doesnt really foloow the original but i think its a better one than the last two

  • @mavia2 it explains how it all started

  • Shitty song.

  • If they make another remake in 40 years where will i be?

I'll be in jail for murder if its anything like the 2001 POTA XD

  • The remake was utter crap!

  • Where will we be in another 40 years? making another, even crappier version of the original POTA.

  • @Logan112 not really this is what all you trolls say "the new one in 2011 sucks" and when people watched and loved it you tell me it sucks again and let us see how many bad replies your gonna get but if i watch it and i don't like it well yea.... you win

  • The original is, unquestionably, the better film.

I consider Tim Burton's version to be a comedy: Marky Mark as an astronaut...Really?!

  • The original had heart and soul - something CGI can never replicate...

  • that's it! I'm watching these

anyone know where i can purchase them?

  • @mauzziegirl download them why buying it

  • they finally did it.. they finally made a remake..

    GODDAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!!

  • i like 2001 version...i love tim burton...i love tim roth( thade), i love helena bonham carter ( ari) and YES! i love mark whalberg!

  • hahahahahahahahaahahahahaahah the little blsck monkey look like 50 cent

  • To be fair Rick Baker's make-up for the remake was incredible and Tim at least seems to admit he missed the mark. But while Tim Roth is a good actor playing an ape he was hilariously bad in the remake growling and glaring every second. The ending is something that you'd expect from one of M Night's later movies. Up until then it was forgettable but not horrible, but that ending didnt just bring it down a step, but an entire flight of stairs. The remake is unforgettable.

  • Original is a masterpiece the new ones quite good and is fun but its nothing compared to the old original

  • There won't be another 40 years unless we get rid of Obama.

  • 1:55 HE KISSED AN APE !!! HE'S GENNA HAVE AIIIDS XDD

  • the two movies are shit :) XD !!

  • I actually didn't mind the new version all that much, but seriously dude, the ending of the original was one of the most memorable moments in cinema history and the rest of the story was an allegory of the Civil Rights movement in the sixties. The new one was... erm... a chimpanzee flying a tiny spaceship (or was that Mark Wahlberg?)

  • It's come a long way ! from a 1968 unforgetable masterpiece to a 2001 remake that has been totally forgotten

  • the movie from 1968 is just so old. havent seen it tough. but it just looks so boring because old movies are always so fake.

  • @mongool1234567 How's 4th grade going?

  • @mongool1234567 I have one thing to say to you: CGI.

  • @mongool1234567 they don't sound "fake". they sound as it is not important representing things which are not real, as if they were. look at what is represented instead of how. i'm sure you'll find more contents in the old one than in the new. in the end,who cares if the ape's design is more accurate, it' fiction as well!

belive me, give the oldie a chance

  • @cazzandra86 yeah youre right. its fiction anyway

  • @mongool1234567 lol old movies unrealistic??? they are the best they have proper acting and hard work is put into them nowadays its all cgi which is shit and even more unrealistic and cheap

  • Limbo the orangutan was the best part of the movie!

  • Tim Burton haters

  • 1968 RoCkS!

  • veng: the original 1 from '68 was much much better.

  • The older version was soooooooo much better.

  • entertainment has fallen.. hard.. nothing beats older stuff.. the new shit sucks ass

  • Terrible song, also i was expecting some kind of in depth comparison. greatly disappointed.

  • one thing i feel could have made the 2001 version better was if mark wallberg went through the same thing charelton heston went through and couldnt talk for a portion of the film. when you watch the first one, all you want him to do is talk, and it almost frustraits you. then, he does talk, and it makes the movie.

  • nova was sooooo fine. mmmmmm

  • Yes I would have paid big money to see the old one back at the silver screen.

  • theres a new planet of the apes movie coming soon, its said that it's a prequel, I don't know if it's a prequel to this movie a if its rebboting it.

  • i neva seen the 1968 one but by the looks of it it seems tht 1968 is more violent then 2001 but 2001 has betta graphics and a more hot girl then 1968 hmmm which is betta... i dunno

  • walhberg should have been their last choice!

Terrible acting, and it's like trying to get barbie and ken to to a remake classic. Just doesn't work! It was stupid for them even to try!

  • anything is better than that piece of crap from 2001

  • I love the original, and I'm a 21st century kid.

    Screw the remake. -_-

  • @KikyoChanXD I know, charlton heston was awesome, after all, he should be, since he faced the powerful pharoh in the 10 commandments.

  • The original tapped into social stigma, racial divides and the ridiculous lengths governments go to monopolise their hold over the masses, the new one tapped into... Matt Damon.. good effects but again Burton fails to mend the unbroken

  • @STEPASAUR matt damon? you mean mark wahlberg?

  • @hailtheheelz is there a difference? they are BOTH brain dead liberal hollyweird hacks who cannot act. all they do is get paid to recite dialogue and they are not good at that either.

  • @SocratesTheGadfly hollyweird LOL NOBAMA LOL I SEE WHAT U DID THAR U CLEVER FELLO! UR NOLEGE OF POLITIKS IS SO GUD

  • @Mousse420 it is quite apparent that hollyweird is NOT the only area populated with brain dead, mindless gutless liberals. it clearly sounds like mousse here is trying to function on a solitary braincell. by the way, how is that "hope" and "change" working out for you?

  • @SocratesTheGadfly I did vote for Obama, but I'm actually quite disappointed in him and at this point consider him worse than Bush since he does the same things but everyone assumes he's somehow better.

I really just think the terms "Hollywierd" and "NOBama" are fucking retarded, especially the way idiots like you seem to think you're proving something by using them. It really doesn't go any deeper than that.

  • @Mousse420 actually i refer to you morons as obamanuts, obamatons or obamatrons. each day the obamamessiah and his feckless obamazombies continue to prove how incompetent, stupid and idiotic they truly are while continuing to destroy the greatest beacon of Freedom, Liberty and Independence to the world today. my sincere desire is the sooner this facist marxist communist reject is thrown out of office the better America and the rest of the world will be

  • @SocratesTheGadfly Yes people like me with actual things to say are so much stupider than people like you who do nothing but name calling and baseless accusations. How am i destroying freedom exactly? How the fuck am I an 'Obamanaut' when I already stated I don't support him? If you're so much smarter than me please, enlighten me. What is it you know that I don't?

  • @Mousse420 *More stupid

  • @janiceeex Making minor spelling and grammatical corrections on the internet is and incredibly worthwhile use of your time.

  • @Mousse420 You're right. I should probably spend it arguing with complete strangers on a Youtube video instead. My bad.

  • @Mousse420 you certainly do NOT UNDERSTAND. the obamamessiah's policies are destroying America's economic freedom and prosperity and you obamanauts just sit back and do not care!

  • @SocratesTheGadfly how am I an "Obamanaut" when I already stated that I don't support him? You don't even know how to properly use your own idiotic terminology

  • @Mousse420 you are just as culpable in the obamamessiah's socialist communistic facist agenda as all the other OBAMANAUTS because you voted for the kenyan kommunist bastard. therefore, if you voted for him YOU SUPPORTED HIM!!!

    duh!!!

  • The remake sucked rectum. Respect your classic cinema.

  • the new remake movies of course will have better picture qualities, actions, technologies, ideas and animations but priority should always be given to the old 1nce coz without old ones new would have never been made till here..!

  • The only good thing about the first one, was it lead to the new one... other than that it was a joke i mean c'mon...it was the most boring movie i have ever watched...the new one was better by far

  • booo how can u not like the original

  • exactly, remakes nowadays are just all about the action. the older movies (while not as visually spectacular) are a lot better at the other aspects of film making, like character, ideas (how many recent movies are remakes!) and issues. new movies are very lacking in these categories!

so in some respects we have come a long, and in others we have regressed.

  • The 2001 version was an atrocious cinematic disaster; nothing to do with the correct conceptualisation. Whereas the 1968 original was a masterpeice dealing with apes taking ascendancy on an Earth which had previously been environmenrally degraded by modern man and on which modern man had, by fratracide and mismanagement, thrown himself down from the top of Earth's biological pecking order. Whereas, where the smug dickheads of Hollywood were going with the 2001 shamozzle, not even God knows.

  • The makeup for the new movie was fantastic, but the story seemed too be lagging in spots. If they had filmed with the storyline from 1968, with only one talking human, Taylor, then the movie would of been great, and probly have at least two or three sequels by now.

  • I'm not sure "entertainment has come a long way". But makeup sure has....

  • the new was an abomination serously. the old one is what started everything.

  • @TheBlackGandalf The makeup, the costumes, the actors. None of it can compare with the original. And it only seems that the movies now a days are all remakes. Nothing is ever original except for lord of the rings. Which was a very good movie.

In 40 years they'll try remaking it, and bomb.

  • @TheBlackGandalf i think that the book is the best

  • @TheBlackGandalf Nope the Book is what started everything and still none of the films, tv show, cartoons has even come close to the book, only parts of it if not just fractions.

  • @TheBlackGandalf lol i love comments like ur cause they so retarded of course the old one was the movie that started everythng its the original movie u ape hahahaha.

  • @TheBlackGandalf Yeah, the old one might have 'started everything' but just because it's a remake, or just because Tim Burton directed it, or just because Mark Walburg stared in it, doesn't make it an abomination. Just take it for what it is and try to enjoy it man :) all remakes aren't that bad.

  • The remake is not even faithful too the original, i have to say that the human girlin the remake is very nice-looking.

  • however, the new one is faithful to the book, but the old one isn't

  • Yeah, i´m aware of it, however being faithful to the source material doesn´t guarantee a great movie and this film proved it.

  • the book is way better than the 2 films

  • stfu the remake sucked major balls and if you had half a mind you would see that

  • The best part about the 2001 movie is it seems like the test monkey is the only one capable of landing a spaceship properly.

  • the 2001 remake is nothing to be proud of the only good thing about it is the one line apart from that it has crap story line ,crap charaters, crap movie

  • The orginal IS the best!

  • 1968 version is a pop culture landmark The 2001 one is an abomination with the stupidest ending ever.

  • 2001 was really good at thought but they didnt end with the statue of liberty

  • I'd really like it if James Rolfe(the angry video game nerd) did a review of the planet of the apes film series, the original 5, not including the 2001 lousy remake which we dont speak of

  • What about the newer remake, "The Milking of the Planet that went Ape"? It starred Roddy McDowelstick?

  • The 1968 movie was far better in terms of story. That is the one people still remember, not the more recent 2001 version.

  • never seen 1968 one would love to see it but cant find DVD anywhere and im not allowed to order online im too young, but 2001 was good though i missed the 1st 20 minutes...

  • I like both but I would definitally prefer the 1968 one because :

    1- Better makeup

    2- 4 sequels

    3- 2 tv series

    ....

Movies have gone downhill since the late 60s, 70s and 80s. We've gone from Ferris Bueller to Shrek. Wtf??

  • to me this shows nothings changed much, the old apes dont look tacky and the makeup doesnt distract from the characters, and the new ones still look like people in monkey suits. this seems a tribute to the skills of film makers 4 decades ago, nice vid

  • Oh yeah, great Effects, Lame brained script and the music sucked. No dramatic content whatsoever. Unlike 1968 when a REAL MOVIE had to be made. If only effects made a movie, how many great films there'd be nowadays. Today there;s nothing but rehash, rehash rehash. Doesn't anybody have REAL EXPERIENCES now? I'm sure film executives sure don't!!

  • lol

  • both are great but anyway I prefer 2001 version because brilliant Mark Wahlberg in it

  • I liked the new one. Too much messin with the script made it messy and drove Tim Burton crazy. If they could have stuck to the original script it would have made a world of difference. If you have the 3 disc set go and read the original and see the contrasts. Too bad Fox Execs didn't keep their noses out and let Tim make them a terrific movie that made sense.

  • i suppose it is all a matter of opinion i prefered the new POTA movie due to the awsome action scenes still both good movies

  • All originals are long way better than remakes, Hollywood is getting worse this century and in its films are many imbolism of illuminati

  • Oh Yeah Unless Theres Like This Cinema Renasaince That Its Only Gonna Get Worse From Here on in. Like Seriously Imagine what a movie will look like in 50 years good god Now Now It Could Be A Good Thing Technology will evolve like 3d will be awesome

  • The new one should be called "Monkey Planet" and have nothing to do with POTA.

  • Actually the book the '68 movie is based on takes place on another planet and not Earth so the 2001 movie tried to capture the author's origninal story more closely but it fell of the mark just the same, just FYI

  • The original is way better than the remake. The late 60's and early 70's Planet of The Apes still outperformed the 2001(modern) Planet of The Apes.

  • to be honest if anyone thinks the newer version is better or "superior" then its mainly because of the graphics and art design......its so evident that movies nowadays a so far and few....meaning that there are only a handful you will find that have very well written scripts....movies in the older days relied on great scripts and acting which is why the original is better

  • i think both are awesome. either you like the remake or you hate it. but just keep it to yourself 'cause no-one cares

  • 1968 film was better. The ending was awesome! The ending of the 2001 version SUCKED.

  • Suggesting the remake is superior in any way is insulting.

The original is far superior in every aspect. Yes, the one thing that was good in the remake was the makeup, BUT, the makeup in the original is equally impressive for its time, so it's a big win for the original.

  • The original wins hands down, in so many ways.

  • 2001!

  • Comment removed

  • U R an idiot posting useless off topic crap, blow...

  • lol 1:56

  • also 1968 is much better than 2001. original is always better
