  • Thank you Reverend Flemming for your wonderful, precious,, annointed rendition of this great Hymn! may Christ always bless you! In Christ's Love, BobbyK

  • To all the christians keep this type of music alive for all of us please

  • regardless if I am christian or not this song brings tears to my eyes I was was raised by people born in the early 1900's and this reminds me of all the good things they taught me about farming and worshiping 1 God I will never forget what they taught me.

  • Praise Him! This is so great. Why? Why don't we hear this anymore? And to the persons who disliked this. Come on man.

  • LETS NOT MESS THIS MOMENT UP WITH WORDS!!! PRAISE JESUS CHRIST

  • HALLELUJAH

  • When we are young life has not begun yet, so the songs are really testimonies. And we are young we don't have many yet. Things in life make you pay attention to God and All His Glory. Age changes things we hear and things we do. I tell my son when we grow up, we have lived on both sides of the tracks. And, that makes us pay attention to songs like this. I love it when we moan the devil don't know what we moaning about. Glory Glory

  • Preachers don't have the kind of anointing to moan like that today!

  • to serv this present age callling to fulfill and today we sing songs like smile and season is here and we wonder where the power went!!!!!!!

  • amen love to hear them old hymn ever now and then at a revival or a program some older person will sing them

  • When people were singing these songs, they stood against racial injustice, cross burning and all kind of malicious hatred. Yet they stood and believed God. Now a days with our up beat music and trendy gospel we cant even stand for someone to look at us funny before we leave God

  • My Goodness this takes me wayyy back. Down here in Alabama, the Deacon would go to the front Pew and bend down on his knees with the Bible and sing this Hymn and thecongregation will call and response. Thanks for taking us back down Memory Lane :)

  • I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER HEAR SOME1 SING THIS SONG AS BEAUTIFUL AS MII GRANDMOTHER... NOW I WANNA HEAR THEM SING IT TOGETHER.. HE'S TRULY A MAN OF GOD..

  • What hating devil checked disliked? THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!!!!

  • SLAVERY

  • That's what you call a gift from God!

  • I AM SO SUBSCRIBING TO THIS CHANNEL, THANK YA JESUS FOR MT. CARMEL!

  • I love the new gospel music. I have 300CD's to prove it (although some of what passes for 'gospel music' is questionable) but God really speaks to me in the old songs. They take me back to my old days in my old baptist church in the Appalachian hills of VA, and I'm not even 40 yrs old yet I remember these songs.

  • Sang it Preacher!!!!..God Bless You!! Dr. Fleming

  • (*A CHARGE TO KEEP AND A GOD TO GLORIFY*) THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SONGS WHERE YOU PUT YOUR HAND ON YOUR HIP AND LET YOUR BACKBONE SLIP!!!!! DONT CARE WHO AROUND OR WHO CARE!!!! I GOT TO GET A PRAISE IN !!!!!!

  • old school rules... yall can keep that new stuff

  • It's funny that when you were a child in church that you never paid any attention during these old hymns, but when you become an adult all you want to do is hear them...sometimes just to hear them will carry you thru the day or whatever your situation maybe...find myself just singing...

  • @Shavelda U r so right!!

  • i will forever luv this song i luv u granddad

  • One of my favorite Hymns...Glory Be!

  • This hymn makes me think of a man named George from my hometown of Mille,n Georgia. Hunk, as George was affectionaly called, loved this song. He couldn't sing but someone had to sing this song for him at all area churches that Hunk visited. Is there anyone out there from Millen Georgia that remembers George? He used to work at one of the local pharmacies.

  • @dr09dr Millen, Georgia is the town's name.

  • This take me back to my days at St. Matthew in Florida at my fam church.

  • I just needed to hear this old Hymn today! Glory!!!! My Aunt Lillian, Uncle Will, Cuz Emory Law, Cuz Louise Earley, Cuz Early Harris, Mother Fannie Harris-Bratton, Cuz Dutsy, Sister Sears & Pastor Sears of Bradley AR, @ St Paul Baptist Church used to really sng this song good. I can still hear them! GLORY!!!!

  • Wow, Pastor Flemming is from old school! All he needs is backup or help from the congregation. Awsome.

  • Frannie, remember the Deacon Board in Shalom...I don't remember the Deacon that used to sing this...but he would begin the song at his seat and by the time he got to the front...the church would KNOW it is time for "churrrch"...the same as Pop Pop...

  • This song and many like it are sung exactly like many Arabic songs and the Azan..listen the for the similarities. It's amazing how much we maintained even in the hardship of slavery.

  • does anybody know the title of this song and who sings it "i want to be somewhere around god's throne and it goes on the say sit at the welcome table shout my trouble over"

  • "A Charge to Keep I Have" and its in da hymn book

  • i AM NOT CHRISTIAN ANY MORE BUT MAN i LOVE THIS IT REMIND ME OF HOME AND NO MATTER MY FAITH THIS IS WHERE MY HEART IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD

  • I love these old hymns. Contemporary music is good, but it can't touch the old hymns.

  • @Speezerina -everyone has a right to their opinions, lol

  • @shadhom LOL. Don't get me wrong. I love the new stuff too!!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Lecrae. :-)

  • @shadhom LOL. Don't get me wrong. I love the new stuff too!!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Lecrae. :-)

  • @Speezerina You betta say that!!! The old church had that anointing and the hymns...Whew!!! Can't even speak/form a coherent sentence about it. As a child I use to cry to hymns/songs like this.

Rev. Flemming sounds just like a deacon at my old church. Living in Atlanta, it is hard to find a church that holds true to "old church" roots! This type of devotion moves me more than this generation/new era of worship and praise. BRING DEVOTION BACK!

  • WOW---took me right back to Zion Hill First Baptist. LOVE THIS PRAISE!

  • THATS THE ONE THERE DOC YES SUH

Who gave his son my soul to save and fit it for the sky

To serve the present age my calling to fulfill

O may it all my powers engage to do my Master's will. These r the baptist lyrics

  • thanks. I've hummed this for years only because this is what i heard my grandmother doing. never new all the words or should i say it was hard to understand what the old saints were saying

  • He is a musical genius that has not been discovered!

  • Beautiful and stirring.

  • Hearing this song brought tears to my eyes this morning. It took me back to the time when I was a child growing up. There was a woman in our church who could make the entire congregation start praising God when she sang it.

I had to become a grown woman to fully appreciate the lyrics and what they mean.

    This version is beautiful.

    Thanks for posting it.

    God bless you!

  • beautiful. reminds me of how we sang it back in Alabama

  • does anyone know the words?

  • a charge to keep i have a God to glorify

a never dying soul to save and fitted for the sky.

to serve the present age my calling to fullfill o may it all my powers engage to do my master's will.

assured that if thy trust betray i shall forever die.

    Rip: Aaron Cotton
