SOC, they (the cast) do associate SGR with the movie. They're using it as a marketing segue. They did NOT, however, utilize the wax seal logo anywhere in their site.
Your suspicions are incorrect. Each cast member was interviewed individually and asked a few questions regarding how the LOA affects each topic. The cast did not collaborate and were all edited together later.
I just looked at the official secret seminar sgr affiliates web site and they definitely do feature the wax seal image. It is the first thing you see in their sgr slide show.

Yes, it is a pyramid scheme. The scheme works through a system of "affiliates". That is, affiliates (anyone who wants can be an affiliate) purchase the shit from the producers/writes and sell to other "affiliates" who have been promised untold riches, and on down the line. Each affiliate is supposedly making money off of any affiliates he/she recruits beneath him. Ever heard of Amway? It's very similar.

The SGR Program is a project of those cast members who decided to get together to work on a project on their own. The way I look at these things is this: If the focus is actual product sales to the public such as a book, video, or some other tangible thing, then it's generally ok if the seller has to buy it from a manufacturer. Also, the number of sellers (distributers) should be limited and have to qualify. it's true, people often get into a cycle of negative thinking, that CAN become self fulfilling. PRODUCTS like this can help people reduce negative thinking that has become unproductive, but it is not a law. Bad things happen to good people and it doesn't mean they attracted these things. They can choose how to respond to setbacks, however.

SOC, they (the cast) do associate SGR with the movie. They're using it as a marketing segue. They did NOT, however, utilize the wax seal logo anywhere in their site.
Your suspicions are incorrect. Each cast member was interviewed individually and asked a few questions regarding how the LOA affects each topic. The cast did not collaborate and were all edited together later.

What struck me curious enough to respond was the accusation of a "pyramid scheme." I'm fairly familiar with The Secret, and yet, I can't possibly see how or where someone could demonstrate that there's a pyramid scheme anywhere in relation to The Secret. Yes, it is a pyramid scheme. The scheme works through a system of "affiliates". That is, affiliates (anyone who wants can be an affiliate) purchase the shit from the producers/writes and sell to other "affiliates" who have been promised untold riches, and on down the line. Each affiliate is supposedly making money off of any affiliates he/she recruits beneath him. Ever heard of Amway? It's very similar.

I'm not interested in arguing with anyone or causing any grief. However, I can shed some light on this issue. One, the SGR program is not a "pyramid" scheme. I say this by legal definition. It is in fact a two-tier affiliate program. I'm not an affiliate and have no vested interest in their defense, but there is a huge difference. Whether you believe in their business model or not, it is legitimate.

Actually, no, it is still a pyramid scheme. It masquarades as something else. Look at their multi-level marketing plan they advertise on their website. The focus is recruiting new "affiliates" and not product sales. Although the focus is not commissions per se (which would be overtly pyramidal), the effect is the same. It is only a matter of time before it goes the way of Amway.

The way I look at these things is this: If the focus is actual product sales to the public such as a book, video, or some other tangible thing, then it's generally ok if the seller has to buy it from a manufacturer. Also, the number of sellers (distributers) should be limited and have to qualify. If, however, the focus is to recruit unlimited numbers of unqualified people to become distributors and buy from the manufacturer, it is obviously a scam.

How you "look at these things" vs how the law defines "pyramid" and affiliate marketing are very different. Whether you agree/approve, what they're doing is within the legal definition of affiliate mkg. Even if those affiliate are allowed to recruit other affiliates, that's a two-tier affilate program. This is also legal and legit. Even if what you're thinking is MLM, or Network Marketing, which is closer to your "pyramid" model; even those are legal and not pyramid "schemes".

Oh, are you a licensed attorney? In which state are you a member of the bar? A pyramid scheme is defined by the facts as they exist within the scheme, not the use of symantics, etc that hide the thing. MLM that focuses upon recruitment not product sales is the first red flag. Often, pyramid schemes are difficult to root out and only known after they collapse; let's see if that happens here. Meanwhile, if you're not a licensed attorney, you shouldn't be providing legal opinions.

Whether you're 'for' or 'against' makes no difference to me. If it did, I would make a stance either way and state my reasons for doing so.

No Leander290, the exploration is never done; but the "some truth" you were referring to was able to sink in to MY head, was able to peirce all of MY social conditioning so well that I was truley baffled/amazed I didn't pick it up through other spiritual venues earlier. It proved to be the right key at the right time for me. That makes it good for me and therefore, others as well.

It also bears mentioning that we live in a universe of limited resources; in fact, we are trapped on a planet with very limited resources. If someone uses "positive" thinking to get something, then he is taking that something away from someone else; I want huge amounts of cash, that means someone else loses. This is, after all, cause and effect as argued by these fools. So, really, what we think of as "posivite" thinking is actually "negative" thinking after all!

To begin with, the writers/producers of "the secret" use the argument from authority; believe this because we say it is scientific. There is NO credible scientific proof, backing, etc for anything presented as fact in "the Secret". Furthermore, who decides what counts as a "positive" vs "negative" "vibe" or "energy" or whatever? What is negative to me can be positive to someone else.

This little "Feelgood community" is charging naive desperate people $2000 to learn how to master their law of attraction. There is no limit to the depths of their cynicism. It is set up as a pyramid scheme, so their recruiters are posing as regular folks on these forums who just want to share their positive vibes. I suspect that in many cases the comments praising this nonsense are the result of one person posing as many.

it's true, people often get into a cycle of negative thinking, that CAN become self fulfilling. PRODUCTS like this can help people reduce negative thinking that has become unproductive, but it is not a law. Bad things happen to good people and it doesn't mean they attracted these things. They can choose how to respond to setbacks, however.
