Keep hearing this is based off the book East of Eden. Never read it but I did read a short story Meg and Dia wrote about a little boy. His parents called him a monster and denied him the love he needed. He grew into an unloved adult and raped a woman in desperation to be loved by someone. I believe he kills her then he realizes what he did was not love. He feels like a true monster as his parents called him as a boy and kills himself by laying in a bathtub of kerosene and lighting it on fire.
