@WorkflowBeats actually no. These are not the chords from girl from ipanema but that certainly is a bossa nova classic. I looked up the chords to g.f.i. on ultimate guitar and it has a lot of major 7 chords and some 9 diminished 5 chords in the bridge so I hope some of the theory I talk about in this vid helps you understand what those mean:)
thanks that was really easy to understand, because i didn't know how the 13, 9 and 11 chords were formed, and the answer it's easy as play the chord, add a flat 7 and if you want a 9 chord, add also the second grade of the scale of the chord you're playing and that's it!, in order to get an 11 chord do the same but add the fourth grade, and so on, am i right?, or i got it all wrong?
Great!! I´m taking note of your lesson. I have a doubt, why if you play C6/9 you don´t play the first or the six string, (E) if they belong to the C chord, I mean, if you add 6 or 9, that means that I have to avoid certain notes of the original chord?? Hope you have understood me! Thanks.
@carolaxis very good question.in making extended chords it is common practice to omit certain notes from the chord. note most commonly omitted is the 5th.in case of the C chord this is the note of "g".the 3rd is hardly ever omitted as the third gives the chord it's flavour, major or minor (in which case it's a flattened 3rd). in the case of C6/9,5th str=c note (tonic or 1st),4th str=e (3rd),3rd str=a (6th),& 2nd str=d (9th).if u don't understand any of this ask away & i'll be glad to clarify.
i'm not sure what you mean. if you mean you can't hear it that well, my camera doesn't record my acoustic that well and this song is not meant to be played on an electric. if you mean my playing technique is sub standard that's cause i'm no professional. just trying to pass along some chord theory i recently learned. the original rob schumann video has much better technique & sound but little explanation.

@naujniram you're exactly right! Very well summarized. Also many times the 5th of the chord is omitted cos we only have so many fingers.
