Pretty much worthless unless you practice every week with it and hit your target.

Although I own a .380, (highly underrated) I can put all 9 rounds on target in 3" center mass in 1.7 seconds. YES, ALL 9 ROUNDS IN 1.7 seconds on target.

As a long time shooter I would suggest starting her out in the sport with a .22 LR pistol, thats way too much gun for a new shooter. Keep the slide closed when you put the magazine in otherwise you have a round in the chamber. Finger off the trigger too !

The 1911 design hasn't changed in 100 years. There have been MINOR adjustments, but nothing that would change the recoil of the 45 ACP.

I've had 4 1911 guns customized with recoil buffers, etc.

No difference. The Kimber and the Colt are the same in that respect.

"Hand cannon" is, to say the least, an extremely optimistic way to refer to a .45ACP.

Its a large round, but it comes out of the muzzle slow - with little energy - and loses energy more rapidly than pretty much any automatic round.

Yup, I own one in .44 magnum. Puts on a good show till I grab the .460 S&W Magnum 460 V revolver. Last time I got the DE out the overpressure shook the indoor range and the muzzle flash lit up the whole range. Everybody looked around to see who brought the handheld artillery. It was fun. :)

I own a .44 Magnum Desert Eagle too. I got it back about 25 years ago when the were first released. There was only to calibers to choose from at the time, .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum. I got mine nickel plated with 24kt gold appointments. Never shot this one though, I want to keep it in prestine condition in its presentation case.

When I first shot one at the local indoor shooting range, I was initially all excited. You know, all that history and mystique behind the .45 ACP cartridge and the Model 1911.

Well, I explored it and I have to say I was NOT impressed! My experience was actually a let down.

Then I tried a .357 Magnum-chambered revolver -- and I LOVED it! I couldn't get enough!

I salesman was trying to push me towards the .45 ACP, but I was having NONE of it!

I bought the .357 Maggy. :D
