old brushes are very good to use especially when used as a dried brush effect (not muck ink) in creating texture and shades where it might be needed to balance the whole painting. It can soften the bold blacks on a page if that is the affect needed for that moment of ZEN. I like how you work the whole page with your brush spontaneity-very special
