I don't know how you can put up with those directional types of scratches, I only ever play on medium.

Eventually you learn the right timing/rhythym at which to scratch at. Sometimes you have to scratch slower, sometimes you have to scratch much faster. I thought expert was impossible at first, but it's all about practice.
