You're right. But that is the Present tense.... this video lesson is talking about the Preterite, a past tense... so instead of "vivo" (I live), this video deals with "viví" (I lived)... etc.
@holomaxi Then he is only teaching latin american slang. It is right under the Real Academia Española tu use the formal form ustedes instead vosotros and conjugate verb using third person of the plural, but this is a latin american adaptation. My opinion is that you should teach the full story and then explain what latin americans do.
Jordan is teaching something like "mexican spanish" or "neutral spanish", that's why he doesn't use "vosotros". (He's using the word "ustedes" and it's the same thing!)
You're the best Spanish teacher I've ever met, Señor Jordan. Your videos really helped me a lot. I'm trying to learn Spanish as much as I could because someday I would like to visit Spain and feel that somehow I'm related to Spanish people because of their 3 centuries of colonizing our country.
Gracias Maestro Jordan for posting all of your vids! actually, all are mucho bien! Im from the Philippines and somehow, The Filipino Language relates to Spanish for some vocabularies that's why i would like to learn more!
@tontitofrito wtf? but you have to! I'm from Spain and speak Spanish as a mother tongue, obviously. So imagine I decide not to use the word "They" ever. does it makes any sense?? How do you refer to the second person of the plural in Spanish? do you use the single form? that's ridiculously wrong. How can you do videos of teaching Spanish?
If you're from Spain you'll also be familiar with the 'ustedes' form, which is what we use in the rest of the Spanish speaking world for the idea of 'vosotros' as well as for the idea of 'ustedes'. It's just used for both.
I have a question. The video says "The girl described her favorite restaurant. The spanish translation is "La chica describio su restaurante favorito." The subject of this sentence is femine "La chica" so should it be not favorita instead of favorito. I am not sure. Appreciate if you could clarify. Thanks!

The beautiful thing about opinions is that they are subjective. Please keep in mind, I never said 'vosotros' could not be used.

Thanks for your question.
Actually, the girl is not the 'favorite' thing, it's 'el restaurante'. Since favorito is modifying 'restaurante', that's why it's masculine.
Hope that made sense!
tontitofrito 3 years ago
Hi tontiofrito,
Thanks for taking the time to clarify my question. Now I get the point. Thank you.
Muchas gracias maestro!
