It's "Right here", not "Right There" but otherwise, lyrics are good. And sweet song!! And are you sure it's "Hold my hand, to mercy"? That just doesn't sound right...
I believe that if they put this on itunes people would definatly buy it and then earn money when the album comes out... Just seems like a smart business plan to me. RISE AGAINST RULES!
@greendarthpotato i know joe isn't the bassist? zach is the bassist? I believe that you're 10 times more capable to try something new when you're the lead guitarist instead of the bassist?
Then, they "see cameras in the sky" represents the fact that even though they stowed their aggression and waited for help, all they got was people standing by and watching. The two lyrics as a pair kind of represent the slap in the face that people struggling received for trying to cooperate and wait for assistance.
I think I figured out the "We keep axes in the attics, to see cameras in the sky" part. I think the "axes in the attics" represent the fact that despite receiving little to no help, the people pinned their hopes on the fact that help would arrive, and therefore they didn't get overtly violent or aggressive at first. They stowed their aggression (in the attics, where things are put that you aren't going to be using a while go). (cont in 2nd post).
This is an absolute mixture of EVERYTHING they've done. Tim found his scream again, he can still maintain is soft voice, their lyrics are informative and great, brandons drums are fantastic, joe tried some new stuff on the guitar, but stuck to the usual aswell, and zach sounds great. It's perfect! <3
@Meagarisefan That is all true, but u gotta remember that Joe is the bassist. I do think he tried some new stuff though, and the emphasis is on rythym again, which is nice. Appeal to reason was just a little too vocal heavy.
Also, I think "The severence is tight" is supposed to be "The surface is dying" in response to the oil slick that covered the surface of the Gulf. ("The pile is burning" kind of leads into this as well, the "pile" being the destroyed and burning oil platform).
Two people accidently hit the "dislike". If they did it on purpose, they must either be from another band, they are BP owners, or their parents are BP owners....
@25thetony Torrent is already out, and before you criticize me, I've had 2 copies of this album reserved for the last month and a half. Always support the artists.
If that's ur point of view then everyband has sold out slipknot greenday blink182 korn etc as they have all changed music styles down the years buy the quality is still there from rise against and always has been!! The new album will b class if this song is anything to go by so I don't think u really know what u are saying and everyband that makes money has sold out otherwise they would play everything for free and not want to be big and famous so get it up yi
@dannymin yah theres a large diffference between changing your style and selling out. honestly if a band goes a whole decade without changing their style then their just a shitty band rehashing the same ol crap for money. aka THEIR THE FUKING SELL OTUS
and I like how probably 90% of people commentating "FUCK YEAH NEW ALBUM WOOOO!!" only know of Rise Against because of Appeal to Reason or The Sufferer and the Witness.
@greenguy1313 All a matter of opinion bro. I've been listening to RA since Revolutions Per Minute, and while there newer music is different, it's not worse. I listen to RA not only for their instrumentals, but for the message and meaning they put out in their songs, that's the biggest thing that stands out in RA. No band can beat their message and song meanings. This song has just as much meaning as all their other songs, and I hardly call that selling out.
@greenguy1313 Ill admit I started with The Sufferer and the Witness (awesome album name btw) around 4 years ago but I have all the albums and its currently a tie between The Sufferer and the Witness and The Unraveling so your point = invalid.
@greenguy1313 You are entitled to your opinion and others to theirs. I've been a Rise against fan since their first album and yet I love everything they have done. That's what true fans do.
I was really excited for this song, but after hearing more about their next single "Architects", I'm much more excited for that song. Tim talked later in this interview about how the song talks about people like Martin Luther King who shaped the world like they wanted, and if our society is built raising architects or not.
Okay those people who don't like it don't comment because obviously you don't like rise against. I believe in this song they still proved they can be hardcore but that they like their new sound. Plus I feel it's more about the lyrics. Go home sip some coffee and listen to how inspiring and well thought out their lyrics are then comeback and tell me they suck mmmk??
@GodBlessTonyDanza just STFU rise against isnt a band like AC/DC where every fucking album sounds the same as the last.they mix it up a bit. and everytime they do they make it better. if you dont understand music, dont talk shit about it.
@GodBlessTonyDanza Look I can understand you not liking their new stuff, I personally still like their old stuff better but I love their new stuff too, but that doesn't give you the right to troll and hate on Rise Against. Do you really have to be an asshole?
@GodBlessTonyDanza I personally can't really recall a song where Tim doesn't sing with everything he has. He seems to truly believe the words he sings.
this is just too good to be true. i love these guys so much and ive only heard of them just recently. i cannot wait for this new album. ive yet to hear something bad come from them!

In the verses, "And all along THEY say it"
Also in the first verse, its "watch giants" not lions
Sounds like "mercy" not "help see" in the chorus

@Unraveling702
Yeah...Rise Against is really "mixing it up" ala Bloc Party. LOL
And, if anything, Rise Against have gotten weaker by each album.
Sufferer was a step up after the weak misfire of Siren Songs. However, they managed to outdo themselves with the utter turd of Appeal to Reason.
With how underwhelming this song is, give me a reason why I should feel any different?
