  • I can't wait for the next rotory powered car!

  • @vxXsM0kEXxv apaarently it will be a 2 rotor 1.5, direct injjected with 350 hp..like ama-san from RE Amemiya said... 'rotary engines are the future'... they just need to be researched and developed further

  • Fuck pistons. They're nuttin' but trouble.

  • roh tah ree en chin, love the way the Jap Announcer says it

  • 名刀正宗!!!

  • for life MAZDA...BEST ROTARY EVER...thank you mazda i love my rx8 shinka

  • guess what -- they're bringing the rotary back in 2017 :) thank you mazda! I love you!

  • Man, the Cosmo sure is nice.

  • ANYTHING IN ENGLISH????

  • THAT'S WHAT WE CALL A JAPANESE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY!!! ALL HAIL ROTARY ENGINE!!! AND OF COURSE THE RX-7!!!!

  • @myawts86 rotary engine was designed by a german

  • THAT SHIT RUNS SO SMOOTHLY. BILLY MAYS GUARANTEES IT

  • entendi todo ehh en especial cuando dice rotary engine

  • krafta man shippu

  • I WANT A MAZDA CAP!

  • I dont understand why these engines arnt used more. Its a magnificent piece of engineering.Mazda RX7 1.3 with 185hp standard. Ive seen some push out 500hp from the same block.

Insurance is cheap too...whey! everyones a winner!

  • @MrGangleyMoose Perhaps if you understood that its actually a 3.9L engine that has to be thrashed to death just to get 185bhp out of it you might appreciate why rotary's have gone no where in 50 years because its a crap piece of engineering. They have no advantages over a piston engine other than their physical size.

  • More than 50 years after being invented there is a very good reason why the only visible sign of rotary engines is the Mazda RX......They are crap in every respect, other than size, when compared to piston engines.

  • @Manoo62~ yes thats right!

The whole merit of the Wankel rotary is the novalty of it. Thats it!

  • Comment removed

  • I pay respect to mazda

  • GRRR-ate-o Crafto-man-ship....ROW-ta-dee engee-on

  • man this vid is jam packed with passion lol

  • Ive kinda wondered why mazda hasnt experimented with the idea of using a rotary engine in sport bikes

  • Unfortunately, its great advantages were overshadowed by its great disadvantages.the biggest of them all being excessive fuel consumption.it is also inflexible in terms of optimisation.that s y even its inventors have forgotten it.all except mazda..who has made great efforts to improve it.i am curious to see the new engine, the 16B.will it be the best rotary engine of all time?hope it is.

  • IN the beginning, every respectfull carmaker/enginemaker rushed to buy the rights from NSU-Wankel.the rotary engine was seen as the holly grail, the engine that would cease all the others.everyone put a great effort in developing it-without prejudice.

  • Sick of hearing these guys saying 'Rotary Engine waa' . Primarily because they are narrating in Japanese but referring to the powerplant by it's english name, so as to imply that there's no way of saying 'rotary engine' in their own language? I'm spanish and we'd say 'motor rotatorio'... we don't run around saying Rotary Engine!

  • If you have ever owned one then you would know...

  • I LOVE THIS CAR...long live the RX-8!!

  • subtitles please!!!

  • leave it to the japanese to work a picture of a sword somewhere into the video...haha

  • The FD RX-7 is a timeless design that still looks fresh nearly 15 years after it was introduced.

    I wish I had a clean FD RX-7...sigh.

  • I 'm driving for 22 years , & never had too much fun driving like now.

I love my rx8. check "rx8 mx5 my sport cars"

  • yeahh.. a history of the rotary for the japanese.... weak- i need subtitles at least!

  • One of the best engineering marvels of the 20th century and it continues to live on and innovate

  • The rotary is a clever design. But it has problems. Its thermodynamic efficiency is poor. It makes less power for the fuel it uses than a piston engine. But it can process large amounts of fuel so its potential to make power is big. It just doesnt make it efficiently. Its revvy nature is exciting. I prefer the torque of a piston motor myself, but my friend has a 650hp 20b rx7 and that is just nuts. Even if he is selling it to get a GT-R.

  • @slickstrings A piston engine is wasting lots of energy just by the foolish counteracting piston movement. Rotation is always better than up-down-movement, since there is no change of direction. The problem with Wankel engine is that the money for development is not even 1% of that spent on the crappy steam-engine-design piston motors.

  • @MillyVanillification mate, fact is fact. The way it functions develops the charicteristics it has. From a physics perspective, rotating mass sounds great. Mecanically, it doesnt produce a practical power delivery or an efficient torque band. And in the case of a rotary engine, trying to get it to burn fuel well and make use of a clever idea is problematic. If it was an amazing invention with loads of potential, engineers would jump on it world over. Its clever.but has little application.

  • certain people should only own these rotary powered RX's...for they are not for everybody. The amount of oil consumption & fuel, is always an issue in todays market, but if you can see past that, it can be a very rewarding driving experience

  • @6UNLEASHED i hear ya mate, and thats exactly what i do. i absolutly love rotaries! i cant imagine my life with having one or 2 to drive everyday! lol

  • you people talk about rotary engines like if they were just invented....they are the oldest kind of engine....remember when we had to pull on a stick to turn our cars on? those r rotary. Problem with rotary is that once they go you cannot remanufactor it....you need a new block. Not like pistons...just get the next mesurememnt and continue burning the road

  • rotary is cool stop hating fuck the gas n oil enjoy things in life its too short not to

  • what kind of mazda is that? 1:16 the red one

  • @ninjamoto21 Last generation Mazda/Eunos Cosmo

  • i cant wait till sky-G comes out

  • in my opinion the renesis rotary has more problems

  • i can tell you have the 80% of the tme its improper maintenance and just not knowing how to treat the engine ex not leting it warm up running low octane fuel, not keeping an eye on oil, the rotory just needs a little more attention than other engines but thats just the trade off but it is not unlikely tho have one out last a pistion engine if its properly mantianed and cared for

  • The ROTARY is special...as you so succintly put it. It needs special attention..IF your not willing to give it to the ROTARY...then you will have many problems. However IF you pay attention to it and maintain it...it will give your pure BLISS!!

    ROTARY4EVER!!

  • and yes i will admit that when it cme out it had some issues mstly ecu issues mind you but than again most things do when they first come out

  • maybe another year or two engineers will find away to make stronger apex seals

  • Your opinion is not valid.

  • the rotary engine is a work of art. absolutely amazing.

  • the wankel engine is NOT a new technology, its been around since the late 50's

  • newer than the piston engine and its still the newest basic engine design in the last hundred years

  • yes it is newer than piston engines i never said anything about it, but nonetheless its still pretty old tech. The newest basic engine? hmmm i dont think so what about common rail diesels and multiair engines?

  • yes but there still reciprocating pistion engines and the new wankels have just as much new technology applied to them as said piston engines

  • dude..to you, it maybe an "ugly car with junk engine", but to the rest of rotary fans..it's awesome man..

ppl always criticize on new technologies..but that's your opinion..i don't really give a rats ass about replacing the engine..it truly is an amazing achievement and an awesome engine..

  • Why is the Renesis rotary a good engine? What is the appeal to you? And can you see any future improvements to performance, torque, fuel and oil economy?

  • you know thatstuff does not bother me one bit i just wish i could run with out the restrictive emission bull i mean that s why they had to stop selling th 7 in the states

  • it is for sure a achievement and cool to have a different engine then every one else. and there is not much problems with the newer rx8s anymore, but its not really the "better choice" in buying a bang for your buck engine. its fun engine, but you get less hp, less toque, less on gas, but it looks great ,handles great, and sounds great, but there are cars like the 370z that have all of this benefits and more. i am a r8 fan, i am saying the facts. i can see why people think they are junk

  • why some of u talk shit about rotary engine???maybe u got smoked by one of them??? ;P

  • @tsiris1980 no it caz if u have one 1 u need the tools 2 u need to now how to fix rotary i love the r8 + if u blow sel it cost about 9G to get a hole new engine this wat i now about the rx7 now if the rx8 is the same i dont no

  • @tsiris1980 LOL

    ZOOM-ZOOM-ZOOM!!!!

    ROTARY 4EVER!!!

  • @TrickyTolles64 no rotor,no motor my rotary brother ;)

  • @tsiris1980

    nooo, trust me

i have smoke the hell out of rx8 in my ep3 160hp even tho rx8 supposed to have 230hpish

rotaryies are just too outdated now man

  • @mrblockboii maybe cause ur lighter?is that u in the civic??u drive preety nice,u should be driving a rx dude ;P

btw thats ur opinion about rotaries, everyone has different opinion ;)

  • @tsiris1980 what?

  • man shut the hell up

  • As of October 2006 the RX-8 has won at least 37 international motoring awards including 2003 International Engine of the Year, the 2003 Japanese Car of the Year, Australia's Wheels magazine's Car of the Year for 2003, the 2004 Singapore Car of the Year, the 2004 U.S. Best Sports Car, and several UK Best Car Awards. It was named on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 2004, 2005, and 2006. It also took home 1st place on Car and Driver's "Four of a Kind" comparison test.

  • alot of rotary fans are going to be upset when i say this, but i think mazda made a mistake when they built the rx8. they should have turbocharged it for more torque push this 1 1/2 ton car, it would be faster and more pleasureable to drive, or atleast made the car lighter than it is.

  • FYI...

The company that built the rotary engine on the RX7 for Mazda refused to built the new RX8 engine and said it was a weak design and other stuff.

When Mazda finally announced this to the public last year in Febuary 2008, the RX-8's value literally dropped around $8,000 over night.

Thats what happens when you go cheap on a sport car. Yup, yup.

I have a 300ZX TT and when the new GTR came out, it drove the value of my Z up since it designed closely to the 300ZX's engine. Yey :)

  • you may be right about the rx7 team refusing to build the rx8 engine, but what heard was that due to new ownership and the stricter emmissions, ford didn't want mazda to even build another rotary engine for there new sports car. so instead the mazda engineers being so passionate about the rotary engine that they made a new engine from scratch (the renesis engine) while they were off the clock and not being payed. well... thats what i heard at least

  • damn that f++kin sux!!! working to make the company better and not getting paid for it. those japs have real spirit.

but yeah, I would be more happy if we could have rotary engines in every car out there, or atleast the ones i like :)

    THREE COMBUSTIONS PER ROTATION.

piston driven engines have One combustions for every 2 rotations per cylinders

  • that is true i hve heard about that too there where couple of things about it in the news too when they were tlking about building the 8 but one of the other reasons was ford did not want the cr to compete with the mustang they thought it would hurt sales they were quite aginst it

  • People keep saying you put any boost on a REW and you blow it... Got a na 91 RX7 and the old 13b's you can boost abit with out fucking to much on... The REW is good for NA and I am thinking about puting one on my car... but I also want to run NA... if you want to run boost get a REW or 13B-T and thats what a lot of 8 guys are doing I guess.

  • they did not make a mistake.

mazda has sold more rx8's that all the rx7 models combined.

  • i don't know..but i read on some rx8 videos that you have to rev the rx8 engine at redline..and if you just shift at 5krpm or w/e itll hurt the engine, can someone tell me why?

  • Mazda need to scrap the junk rotary.

  • your not that bright are you?

  • Much more so than you idiot.

  • I second that thought. I just don't have the money to replace or rebuild that motor. Ask any Mazda mechanic how often they have to replace the motor in the rx8 and you be surprise how often.

  • I agree..now we are getting some truth here.

  • yeah because the 04 mazada had a recall since they had to tweak it in the last second, thats why the new one 06-10 are perfect

  • i just hope mazda keeps its new cars light weight and i think it should bring cars with rotary turbo motors back into production, also make a new derivative of the 20b motor (is very hard to find)

  • Rotary , VTEC , VVTI

is the best engine ever made in japan

    (thats my optional)

  • vtec and VVTI are valve variable timings in an engine....

  • haha you sir are a ricer vtec and vvti and rotary and TYPES of engines lol

  • This vid made me so proud to own my RX8. I love my car and how its different from every other car. I love being different. It just drives so smooth and corners so beautifully. Yeah you're not gonna break any records at the drag strip but driving in a straight line is boring, I love drifting and taking corners fast.

  • they won the 24 hours of mans wit the 787b then rotary engine got banned after .

  • 欲しくなった。

  • subs please ?

  • I really like these videos...

Very different compared other companies cars .

  • WOOO!!! lmao this vid got me all hyped up

but i dont even drive a rotary :[ lmao

  • May be you enjoy "The Best Rotary Engine" here in YouTube.

  • @gangstaeug he said: otoringue arigaritose tsurobartooo? abaroteeeee!!!!

  • See the best rotary engine in "Motor Rotativo Yonto" 1, 2 and 3

    yontopapa

  • I heard the RX8 is a great car (what I believe too) but I also heard from a Mazda service manager that they are a hassle to maintain. But if your educated about the car and the rotary engine its not so bad. Anyways, I would defiantly trade my 6 for one hehe.

  • Many manufacturer's whined that the rotary engine was an unfair advantage after Le Mans 24 Hrs in 1991, getting it banned. Same sort of whining by Porsche and others in the current Gran Am that got Mazda rev-limited to a hobbling 8k RPM.

  • That would have been the perfect advertising gimmick. You can't buy that kind of publicity ! hahaha

  • Love to get a rebuild done by those guys at the factory, at least you no for sure that your car will be 100% freshen engine.

  • Le mans, 1991. Nuff said.

  • Agreed.

  • Communism........whats that got to do with an Engine?

  • ...everything

  • He's trying to make the case that a Rotary works in theory but not in practice. He fails at it, of course.

  • yup .. not much left of a theory once it becomes fact. He probably feels stupid for spending thousands more for a top notch car than he had too. lol There's a sucker born every minute & a swallower born every 5.

  • rx3 coupe the best, and in Australia they sell for in good nick 15000 to 40000 dollars

  • i have to say i love rotrays dose any1 know were i can get 1 from i just want the engine please

  • yes buy one

  • you can get one from Ghan auto part 94 boyland AV coopers plains PH 07 32775006

  • sport car noshisavo (:

  • Much love for the renesis!!

  • I wish there were subtitles...

  • @chunks89 Who needs subtitles?? haha we heard RX7 and we drooled anyway haha

  • i liked the rx-7

the rx-8 looks like a bloated sponge with wheels

  • I love rotary .I will buy one someday but for now I have mazdaspeed3

  • Mazda Rx8 true love

  • what the fuck its in japanese damnit

  • You can't say the RX8 suck, it still have enough power and didn't hog the fuel, thats pretty impressive for a rotary engine.

  • thats why the rx 8 has out sold the entire rx-7 series combined...

  • it just doesnt have that look the rx-7 has......so sexy and sleek.....rx-8's are fat and round as shit

  • it is because of the way they built it, the wanted a coupe/four dorr....I liek it and the 09' is goign to look great! plus you cant really argue with the 50:50 weight distribution

  • ya i perfer the rx7 too

  • i dont know what mazda were thinking when they decide to put a rotary in that rx-8.....

  • Because its part of the "RX" family.

  • I've gotta say, the rx7 is alright in terms of design. The styling is kind of plain in my opinion, its very similar to the third gen/fourth gen Pontiac Firebirds of the time, albeit a lot smoother and of course unique in its own way. Older RX's were really just knock offs of other's designs in my eyes, the oldest were very similar to Nissan's all the way to the Rx7-FB.

That being said, I really dig the RX8's styling over the RX7s. If it was a bit sleaker it'd be amazing, as it is now, its great

  • Rotary engine are fuel hog, maybe not so good when the fuel price starts to sky rocket...

  • Wankel German performance and design at its best,Made better by the people of Japan.harigato.But still MADE BY A german enginer.

  • Totally agree, a german and japanese technological masterpiece

  • I have an 81 1st gen rxheaven,13B Raceing beat intake 650 holley with nos ports{no nos yet} 15" panasport rims, z rated michelin tires. I eat Mustangs for breakfast, lunch and Dinner. You cant beat superior german/japanese work.Rotor head forever. Thanks for the good vibe!peace

  • over dramatic

  • the drama makes it awesome- listen to the guitars SCREAM! go mazda! vroom

  • Вы лучшие Японцы !!! я Горжусь вами !

  • well done mazda

  • mazda kawasaki rotary enginewa sushi miyagi

  • You dont need to know Japanese, Or speak it to know and that Mazda Rotary engines are head of there time. And to know that they are the shit!!!!! Dont think so..check out the Mazda FUARI Concept.

  • English sub-titles would have been good.

  • I think this vid is about a car. But I'm not sure.

  • i just got a mazda rx7 with a 13b rotary engine, and i need to know if someone could tell me where i can find the parts for the engine, its missing some parts, well, i also need to know id theyre expensive. help =[

  • Mazda still sells parts for them. Try Mazdatrix for anything else.

  • Ivansorah you mustn't watching this video :)

  • fucking bitch , gives the tittle on english and the video on japanese , i don't speak japanese dickface

  • Rotaries got a pretty bad reputation for reliability thanks to retarded twin turbo owners who kept pushing their boost till they popped an apex seal. That, or they sent their tuning to be done by apes.

In stock form, the rotary has very little reliability problems. It can be driven hard, and it won't die on you. Just remember all your maintenance procedures.

  • Still waiting for a RX-8 TT Renesis....

  • hakdkjjdhsakk fdjkhdfhkjds, that's all i heard.

  • i think this is a realy briliant and more than genious that they came out of rotary engines and it its impresive that a tuned 20B can rev out at 11x100 rpm if modified near perfect

    that is dangerous and amazing

  • V4 has existed but not really anymore.

The "V" in V4 simply means the shape of the engine. The cylinders form a V shape.

My engine is an inline 4, 4 cylinders in a line. This is not a V4. 22R <-- Popular and long lasting engine. woot woot!

  • Its a two stroke cause it fires on every cycle. tolerances change over the life of a rotary, it needs to be more precise than the piston engine, once it starts to lose its tolerances due to wear it breaks down rapidly. 150 to 200k is there general life span. Some piston engines last to 400k sometimes longer. Depends how you drive and maintanence.

  • Its too bad the rotary doesent last as long as conventional engines. Its not as efficient due to it being a 2 stroke. But it is alot simpler, less moving parts(three main to be exact). I own a 2nd gen and there shit loads of fun.

  • ...how exactly is it a 2 stroke engine? intake, compression, fire, and exhaust... the rotary engine has all these. i think its more efficient than a piston engine in many ways. and why won't it last as long as a piston engine?? it has nothing to break! no pistons, connecting rods, valves, cylinders, etc. not sure where you're getting your sources.

  • english mofuka!!!! do u speak it?!!!!!

  • hmm...seems to be too much english in there for the japanese to understand without some basic classes. but in any case, this is pretty cool, showing the manufacturing and the actual coverless running

  • spirit r looks real nice.

  • Stezii...I love this damn car, but it guzzles gas like no other...depending on how you treat it, I have a 2006 RX8 with 5200 miles on it, so I DO treat it good obviously, 18 mpg in the city...yeah...Corvettes get the same thing, But I love my RX8

  • the rotary engine actually doesn't chug gas. its just that mazda was so set on have PERFECT weight distribution, they but the gas tank in front of the rear axles. so they could only fit a 12 gallon tank in that small space. my RX8 is the same way. one of just a few problems with it: not a lot of torque, and a zippo for a gas tank :(

  • It has a 15.9 gallon tank

  • do you know some more cars with this engine? becuse this engine should be in ALL CARS, no exeptions, lot of power, little of consumption

  • You're wrong about the consumpstion. RX8's suck up A LOT of gas, just as much as a V8. The engine is so innovative, and shows a lot of creativity. Even though the gas mileage is low, the car is still amazing and I want one XD.

  • i dont know what he is saying. im so lost. i love rotary!

  • The script is going on about how the rotary engine was going to die with the RX-7 but thanks to Mazda skill and craft and pride its spirit can come back to life in the RX-8.

  • Thank you Mazda, and thank God for Felix Heinrich Wankel. Thank you Mazda for keeping the rotary engine alive.

To all the people who bash the engine on it's fuel economy, why do you care about fuel economy in a SPORTS car?? If you want good gas milage get a damn econo car like a Fit or Yaris.

  • Rotary Fo Life Niggah! I shoot yo Ass! Bang Bang to Mr. Piston.

  • what ever hood rat, u have no idea about engines, go with take some mechanics classes please!!!
