@ukijhu97 CR is defiantly better in ever way than QoS. It's terrible. I too hope Skyfall kicks things up a notch. My only hope is that it leans a little more towards the traditional Bond formula. Its has Q, so that's a start. What worries me most tho is that Skyfall seems to share its major plot points with another cinematic masterpiece known as Crocodile Hunter: Collision Coarse XD
@JSN444 What exactly about the original Bond format "wouldn't fly nowadays" when Hollywood seems to have no problem putting out shit like, let's say, Sucker Punch? You really think traditional Bond is "too much" for today's audience? Even Die Another Day looks like Citizen Kane next to some "mainstream" movies these days, so I fail to see your point. I had no idea fun and exciting action movies were out of style. Bond is no crazier than your average superhero movie either so... What?
@CallofDutyNikolay Exactly. Is this a "classically" bad film? Not really. Its just a piss poor (and far too serious) entry into a film series that I hold very dear. They simply changed too much in this one and made it seem more "Bourne" than "Bond" to tell you the truth. Not that I don't like Bourne, I do, its just a totally different feel, and I really am not a fan of the new direction. Also, Bond playing Poker??? Come on... Yawn. BLOW SHIT UP! lol
Ill admit you as a person have got all the NC review style spot on but I do find that while Casino Royale had its departures from the series it was still a very enjoyable Bond Movie.
Now to put all the hate to rest, please do a QoS review.
@xaxie1 Thanks for that. Its totally fine that you disagree with me. I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, I just want people to have fun :) Seriously, you can imagine I get my fair share of trolls for this, so thanks for at the very least having an open mind.
Now as far as QoS goes, I would love to do one. I plan on it eventually but it might be a while. CR is like 1000x better than QoS in every way tho, so take that for what its worth lol.
This movie was a reboot of the franchise so going forward they did not have to deal with all the bagage of the past. They are trying to depict a young agent at the beginning of their career with out all the fake spy gear thet dosent exist in the real world. This movie showed you can have a good action with a little heart where the character is not an complete man whore. Also are you seriously comparing Casino Royale with Shoot Em Up. Your whole review is just alot of whining and complaining.
@jtjr26 You honestly think that Daniel Craig is a good depiction of a "young agent" when he is clearly far too old? And no, I'm not comparing Casino Royale to Shoot Em Up, I'm comparing the credits of Shoot Em Up to the opening credits of a Bond movie. Casino Royale is not a Bond movie. Bond should never be taken seriously or realistically. You want a good, serious and realistic spy movie? Go watch the Bourne trilogy. Its far better in every way. Bond doesn't belong in the real world.
Thank you! I mean, I don't really hate it, but first time I watched it I was thinkning "What the hell is this? Where is Bond movie?" It wouldn't be so bad, I guess, if it was just som action movies with spies... but this was not a Bond movie, not at all...
@BodoInMotion No, thank YOU. Finally, someone who sees where I'm coming from. Sure, this might have been closer to the books, but who the hell cares? I grew up on Bond (movies). Wheres the fun? the excitement? the crazy car chases? The cool badass psycho villain? The gadgets? The witty dialog/double entendres? I'm not asking for a "good" movie, I'm asking for a Bond movie!
@MarcosAssmar No one will EVER call Die Another Day a "classic" or "one of the best" or anything like that. Its a fairly mediocre entry in the series BUT, unlike this and QoS, at least Die Another Day FELT like a Bond movie instead of a poker/exposition-filled Bourne ripoff. DAD was pretty stupid, but it kept the sense of fun that the series seems to have lost lately, and for that I give it a little credit. Still not very good tho, so no, you were wrong in your assumption
@DanSheaMovieReviews What I really liked about Cassino Royale (even though the timeline is completely fucked up) is that Daniel Craig accomplished to show a complete unexperienced agent, as Bond was at the time, making a lot of stupid decisions and not knowing how to act on a few occasions. What I don't like is the fact of him being so much brutal. But I do like a lot what they've changed about the villains. Enough of that crazy maniacs trying to conquer the world.
@MarcosAssmar lol He really did fail A LOT in this movie, didn't he? I honestly think that Craig was miscast in the role. He looks far too old for a "origin of Bond on his first mission" sort of story. He looks too much like a hardened veteran. They needed someone much younger for this story to fly imo. If you ask me, I say that Jonathon Rhys Meyers would have been an excellent choice to play "young" James Bond. I don't but CR as a prequel, especially with Judi Dench in there.
@MarcosAssmar Woops, I meant "buy," not "but." Anyway, they should have really just said the hell with the book continuity and just made it their own by taking some liberties with it. There is no need to reboot Bond. Just continue the story after Die Another Day and switch out Bond. Its worked before. So what if DAD sucked? it can still get better if they continue on. They changed too much about Bond and I honestly didn't SEE Bond when I watched it, ya know what I mean?
@DanSheaMovieReviews Yeah, I know what you mean. I agree that he looks far too old to play Bond indeed. But I don't know, after DAD, the series needed to be revamped. DAD was a horrible movie and the worst way to say goodbye to Pierce Brosnam as James Bond. So when I saw CR, I was relieved to see something more 'down to earth', without all those gadgets and invisible cars. That's my point. And I still think Craig did a good job playing an unexperienced agent.
@DanSheaMovieReviews He falling in love with Vesper was a great hook. It shows us why he has always been a womanizer and why he doesn't trust women and treats them like toys. But, unlike you, I haven't read the book, so I can't say much. But as a fan of the movie series, CR was really good. Specially after DAD, one of the worst of the whole series. QoS seems to me much more of a failure than CR.
@MarcosAssmar I can't agree more about QoS. As much as I dislike Casino Royale, even I will admit that its like 1000x better than QoS. That movie was an absolute mess. its had no story. I'm serious, I've seen it twice I think, and I honestly have no clue what its about. The movie also can't sit still, with Bond jumping from country to country at the speed of light and waaaaay too much shakey cam action that had no point in between. Also, Bond was a major dick in it too.
@DanSheaMovieReviews I love it how james bond movies apparently can't change one bit from what? the source material? no! when they made the movies ''from russia with love'' and ''doctor no'' the source material (the books) was basically their main drive. after that, goldfinger? basically what you are refering to was created. the code of chicks, guns, cars, drinks, baddies and... james bond will return. after die anotherday they just realized they got a bit of the source material
@newRo1ism Look, I understand that those things were created for the movies, and since then it has become a tradition of sorts. Books and movies are two totally different things and shouldn't be compared. I'm not now, nor was I ever interested in the books. I'm a fan of the movies. And let's face it, Bond is really its own movie genre at this point and changing the formula so drastically at the drop of a hat is bound to alienate some. Change is good, but they changed too much imo
@DanSheaMovieReviews i never said the book and film where comparable i said what the bond movies tried to do over the years. And after die another day they just felt like a complete new fresh start, did you know that the next one will feature Q again? Ben whishaw is due to play him. I think you have to see every bond era/actor as another universe. He changes in what audiences demand. like from Moore to Dalton, people just wanted more seriousness. Also..why review 4 years off
@newRo1ism I was simply saying that something doesn't need to follow the source material to be good or bad in its own right. Jurassic Park for example is a fantastic film and it couldn't be MORE different from the book. People just love to to counter my views on this movie by saying "this movie is great because it follows the book!" Its nonsense, and I have always hated the "well, the book was better JUST BECAUSE" crowd, know what I mean? That's all I meant by that
Well for the bathroom sene I can understand him not being profesional if it were his first kill, but in what kind of building can you just shoot someone in the bathroom and no one will notace?
There is something positive about this movie though. In the 2008 season of Mythbusters, both myths involving the use of a minigun were shot in one day at the "secret location". So, in a very indirect way, we owe "Kari Byron shooting a minigun" to "Casino Royale"...
You get mad at the movie from trying to be different but then you get mad when it tries to follow similar formulas from previous Bonds by including Dench. You are just a Craig hater like everyone else. Casino Royale was a great movie. QOS was pretty mediocre I admit, but it was certainly better than the shit excuse for Bond films that was the later Brosnan movies. Goldeneye was good but it just went downhill for Pierce from there.
Hell any actor who had previously been in a bond film could have theoretically played M cause it's not the same bond universe. And then why not go with judi dench who is great as M
the points you are making about the villains are retarded. what exactly make the villans in the other movies better? If you like your over the top villian like jaws thats fine but every villian dont need to be a physical villian. And why cant judi dench be M if it is a reeboth even though she previously played the role ?? Is it really that hard for you to understand that this is not the same universe as the other Bond movies.
@heavytom89 You are honestly answering your own question about M. If this is a "different universe" then she doesn't belong. You can't mix cannons if you are trying to build your own, new cannon. Like the old saying goes, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If they really wanted this to stand on its own, away from the others, then they should have distanced it from them as much as possible. It makes no logical sense to change EVERYTHING else, but leave her in there.
@DanSheaMovieReviews There is one logical sense in it: Judy Dench is an awesome acress and I think the majority of fans can understand that she is obviously not the same M as in goldeneye
@heavytom89 I agree, Judy Dench is an awesome actress. I just don't think she belongs here. They really should have found someone new if their intention was to start fresh. Now on your other comment, I understand that there was a long rights battle for CR and BELIEVE me when I say that this is like Citizen Kane next to the garbage original (seriously Woody Allen as Bond... wtf WAS that? ) But the series has never stayed true to the continuity of the books, so why not just take some liberties?
@heavytom89 Now, this wouldn't have been a problem if they simply did what they have done in the past and changed the actor who plays Bond, while keeping everything else business as usual. Bond can change, that has been established a number of times. And each time he changed, the story and themes remained. it was never a "different universe" then, so why start now? This movie's problem is that it took the "reboot" route. Why not just continue the series instead of starting over after 50 years?
well basicaly because they finnaly got the rights to casino royale almost 50 years after and they really wanted to be as faithful as possible. And it is a good way to start fresh and saving the series after the disaster bomb that is die another day. This is the best bond movie since the sixties
@defenderDX9er Trolls always pretend not to understand the concept of a subjective opinion... or claim to understand it but just insult you for having one in the first place. So I say to you troll, go fuck yourself you insignificant little cretin. You don't like it? don't watch. Excuse me for having an opinion, oh master of the internet. Surely I should have made this video JUST to please you. My bad, I dunno what I was thinking. Go away. Btw 40 min of poker does not a good action movie make
@DanSheaMovieReviews 40 mins of poker? Fool where in the fuck did I say that? Besides the action sequences are much better and grittier. Got sick and tired of Pierce Brosnan Bond movies. Casino Royale felt new and refreshing. And I think that's the main reason why Quantum didn't do as well.
@defenderDX9er We are in total agreement there. QoS was terrible imo. Even I will admit that Casino Royale was like 100x BETTER than QoS. Oh and you didn't say "40 min of poker." I did, cuz that is exactly what we get at one point in the movie. That put me to sleep. Poker CAN be entertaining in movies (look at Maverick with Mel Gibson for instance) but in a Bond movie? That's not my idea of Bond-esque action. It brings the movie to a screeching halt, that's all I meant by that
@DanSheaMovieReviews And I am not defending Brosnan here. They may have gone a little overboard in the last few (tho Goldneneye is still one of my favorites in the series) But Craig was just miscast as Bond imo. I don't mind a more "tough as nails" approach to the character. But, ya know what? Timothy Dalton did a much better job at that. His movies were more realistic to an extent, and he was a tough badass, BUT he still played a likable character who kept the charm and wit of the past Bonds
@DanSheaMovieReviews Well, as for me, I love poker. Not to mention the fact I appreciate good cinematography and I know how difficult and hectic it is to shoot a card game. Besides in the middle of the poker it had the fight on the stairs, the near bond death from the poisoning. It def. wasn't 40 minutes of literal straight boredom like you say it was. There were things in between. But I guess it's what you're into i guess. Poker + James Bond + hot girls + nice cars + action = good f'n movie
@DanSheaMovieReviews No action? Ur fuckin blind dude. Daneil Craig makes Pierce Brosnan look like a pussy. And your review and opinion is trash. Complete and utter garbage. Horrible horrible review. Terribad to say the least.
@burn435353 Then again, past Bonds were much more likable. Craig plays the part so cold that I just don't see how anyone can find him appealing. The character WAS a cartoon, yes. and that was the whole point. Bond was never meant to be taken seriously. They should have tried less to make a "good movie" and more on making it fun and entertaining. True the last few weren't that great, but at least they still FELT like Bond. Bond can still "grow up" without losing the fun aspects. To each his own
@DanSheaMovieReviews well obviously we each are completely entitled to our own opinions, but i think you're being a bit to hard on the film, you cant say it wasn't fun at all, i mean in the very least you can appreciate that it subverts and reinvents bond conventions, honestly, i wouldn't have even said anything if i didnt think most of your other reviews were spot on, i just think you need to watch the film for what it is and not what you think it should be
@burn435353 First off, thanks for being level headed and NOT another troll ;) Opinions are subjective and differ from person to person. I'm not saying that this is the "gospel truth" and I'm not asking people to agree with me. yet many take this very personally, which is sad because they won't even try to have fun with my show. The fact is, I grew up with Bond (in fact my Uncle's uncle was Albert R. Broccoli, so... yeah) and to ME, this didn't feel or look or sound like Bond. That's all
Casino royale was such a good film! It was the first bond film that i actually liked. I agree that the title sequence was boring, but the action was actually gripping, and the story held together well. You say that they didnt put enough traditional bond stuff in, but then you also complain about judi dench being included, even though she has become a central character through the last few films. This is a bad review, and its not actually a review, it just you critizising a film, and its very hy
@andygd8 No.... The reason Judy Dench doesn't belong here is because they treated this as if it were a reboot/prequel. If this took place AFTER Die Another Day, then it would be fine. They are trying to establish a brand new cannon here and keeping her is a mistake. It confuses people. They never should have gone the "reboot" rout. I hate when they do that. Just continue the story. Bond has been replaced before, just do it again. Mixing two cannons doesn't work. thus this movie fails
@andygd8 Ohh and its not hypocritical. Its called satire. Sorry if if went over your head. This is easily one of the most overrated movies i have ever seen. The villain is a failure, his "plan" is lame and Bond sits around for 40 MINUTES playing poker.... yeah that's really exciting stuff. I generally like action in my action movies, but hey, maybe thats just me. And since when is talking about key scenes (satirically or not) in a film NOT a review? your comment is just stupid.
@DanSheaMovieReviews For me to explain why I hate TDK will take more than one comment (a video review maybe?) But basically TDK goes against the continuity of both the comics and Batman Begins, has many plot holes and was an attempt to make a batman film only for adults. That last one sounds just like what Tim Burton tried in 92 and was ridiculed for it because of his film having a scary villain. But TDK also has a "scary" villain and the same people applauded Nolan for doing what Burton did in
@FrontAlleyBoys I can see where you're coming from, but for the record, I'll have it known that I absolutely loved Tim Burton's take on Batman as well as Nolan's. Yes, they stray a fair amount from the comics (especially Burton) but the films are self-contained enough without depending on knowledge about the comics that it really didn't matter to me. Oh and I loved the hell out of both Jokers (if I HAD to choose, I'd pick Heath), but both pale in comparison to Mark Hamill in the cartoon/games :)
@FrontAlleyBoys I defiantly don't agree on the Dark Knight, but I see why you make the comparison. Both films are radically different takes on classic characters/stories that longtime fans might need time to get used to and accept. But, imo, unlike Casino Royale, TDK had great acting, great music and things actually happened. I had fun with Dark Knight, while CR holds the prestigious honor of being one of the few films to actually bore me to sleep.... twice. But to each his own
@suscribeGUY Ummm yeah, its "sophisticated," but its still not a Bond movie. Nothing happens in this movie, people just talk and talk and talk-- oh wait is something gonna happen? no? ahh well, more talking. Not to mention the fact that its missing so many Bond staples. Face it, this is probably the most overrated movie of the last decade. Check out the "Bond blueprint" series on youtube to understand just why this sucks as a Bond movie. And btw its only a movie, no need to get bent out of shape
@Baam12123 Not really. I'm simply making fun of the movie for peoples entertainment :) This is not meant to be taken seriously. But it IS nice to see someone on youtube that can actually "respect" the fact that someone has an opinion. In an endless sea of worthless trolls, that's a rare thing so thanks for that much
Now that was a GOOD MOVIE! But I do get what your saying about how it's so different from other bond movies but it's a remake prequel.....they do this alot these days, but yeah the whole black and white thing is kindof a bum, but I guess it's a black and white moment for james bond
@SnipeYourCheese The way I see it is this: Change is a good thing. There is NOTHING wrong with change. Did the franchise need to change and "grow up" a bit? Maybe. Maybe not. The problem that I have with this movie and Craig himself as Bond is that they simply changed TOO MUCH. See, when you change too much, then you run the risk of alienating the long time fans. Bond films have a formula. When i saw this, I didn't SEE Bond, I saw a generic, talky and BORING Bourne spin off.
i like previous parts but this one seems if not more realistic than others then for sure not less-bond at least gets dirty.his shirt isn't snow white and perfectly ironed after rolling on the ground and other activities that may destroy it.where have u seen babies like this?and of course wanting to kill this guy he should brought him to an expensive, fashionable restaurant or sthi?intro-since it's CASSINO royal i guess those things are for e.g. bloodstreams and bullets made of carts' suits?...:/
firstly forgive me the mistakes-english isn't my mother tongue.i disagree with your opinion and the way u presented it was for me pathetic.i've watched other bond movies and i agree that this one was different but come on it's individual movie it's supposed to be different in some ways.u found some mistakes in chronology presented in this part but if u want to be so strict u should also notice that it's not the first one :Dr. No-1962-connery age 32, Die Another Day 2002-brosnan age 49(not 78)
All you fucking complain about is "why did they start this shit now" and "why isn't it like the original ones" well news flash- ITS NOT THE OLD ONES!!! This is what retards who hate on this movie keep saying but the're trying to give James Bond a new feel. Hence a REBOOT.
@damianzy1 It's ironic because "comment on yourself" is actually the first thing I do in the video by calling myself a "huge movie guy" so.... troll comment fail :P
I watched Casino Royale with lower expectations. But I most say it's a five star movie. A powerful remake. Hopefully, they will keep that strategy for future films. Past Bond movies are good for once in a while entertainment, but this one is good to have it in the collection.
@carlosaldm I respect your opinion and your ability to express it without being another troll (you know the type, I'm sure) however I have to disagree. See, imo "Bond Movies" are not your everyday action movie, but their own genre. There are certain things you come to expect from a Bond movie. This has none of those things. While CR might be considered a good movie to many, it remains a piss poor Bond movie.
@carlosaldm Oh and you should check out the Bond Blueprint series here on youtube to see where I'm coming from. Its a great watch and is actually quite interesting. Check it out if you get the chance
if you don't like the opening sequence and want to use an example of a great bond intro, why didn't you use a previous bond intro as an example instead of two unrelated movies?
and second, you shouldn't judge a villian on thier appearance, characters like Yoda and HAL 9000 prove that appearance doesn't determine everything
@videotapereturner24 Ok I used unrelated movies to show that films that aren't even trying to be Bond films are doing it right/better, while this couldn't, even tho it was in fact trying to be a Bond film.
Second, yes, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. However, this guy didn't do anything to "disprove" his appearance. In other words, by the end of the movie, he was still frail and useless and defiantly not a worthy adversary for a guy like Bond. and come on, he DOES look like a baby :P
@TheDevilWearsWabbit Amen to that. I'm sick of all the remakes and shit coming out these days too. A tad off topic, but true none the less. I wish they would STOP remaking the classics and bastardizing the integrity of the originals (Planet of the Apes come to mind). If you wanna remake something, then remake something that wasn't all that good to begin with. God forbid coming up with original ideas. I miss the days of popcorn action movies like Commando lol. Just watch it, no thinking needed
I think the reason that the intro looks like a bad ps1 game is because the silhouetted characters are composed of the suits of cards, the diamonds, most commonly. However I couldn't agree more with the rest of it.
@TheDevilWearsWabbit Yeah I totally get what they were going for. But does it look at all like what you would expect in a Bond intro? nope. How can you do a Bond intro without nude silhouettes of women? MADNESS I SAY! lol
@DanSheaMovieReviews As I said, I completely agree, I expect this from some sort of bad porn variation of the plot. (Lord knows they'd be easier to relate the stereotypical Bond character with than Mr. Craig.) If you ask me, James bond had it's run and it was amazing, at this point they're kicking the dead horse or trying to squeeze diamonds from a turd, it's time for them to flush the toilet if you get what I mean.
@TheDevilWearsWabbit I think its really just time for them to stop trying to make a "serious" or "realistic" Bond movie. They need to stop trying to put Bond in the real world and bring back the fun that the series was always known for. Let's face it, Bond was always a living cartoon character, and that (along with the over the top plots and interesting villains) made the series special. Bond w/o gadgets and in the real world is FAIL imo. Bond needs to be "larger than life," ya know?
@DanSheaMovieReviews As it stands, the movie making industry is fundamentally gone to hell in my honest opinion, it saddens me to say it because not only does it give me a very bleak outlook on the new titles it also gives me very little to nothing to look forward too. It just seems like they've tried to improve on perfection and come up with nothing but bad remakes, failed sequels and sordid attempts at giving what they think the audience wants.
@TheDevilWearsWabbit Really, they want to be treat like they used to be, unsheltered and open minded. We want action, give us action. 'Nuff said. We don't want pointless backstory. We want damn good, rough, intense cinema. Like the good old days when media was so dumbed down and mediated to the point of abyss.
I can't claim to be as big as a movie lover as you are, hell I'm into Games more than movies, but even then it's the same, the best games have been exploited and used like a cheap whore
@TheDevilWearsWabbit until they've lost the tred on the tires so to speak. James Bond was amazing in it's prime, while I agree it may still have potential, I love it enough to let it go and let it drop into the hall of cinematic history. Hell, maybe even a sequel or a prequel would be so so so so much better if they timed it right, however, it's kind of like... Oh I don't know... Final Fantasy maybe? Imagine back in the days when it first touched our hearts, it was a Long. Ass. Time ago. And yet
@TheDevilWearsWabbit It's exploited to the point where there's only a small fan-base now of the people who used to enjoy the first few games. with maybe yes, a few others.
Possibly a bad example, I don't know, to be perfectly honest I can't really think of many examples that could even compare to James Bond. You may be able to being more of a movie buff than I am.
Point is, it's been done. That's all I can really say. Maybe in the future it can come back, but it'll never be as fantastic.
@TheNaamaPalmu wow dude..... seriously, grow up. You really trying to act all big and bad over the internet? way to be an asshole. Why so mad? ITS A FUCKING MOVIE! and a massively overrated one at that. How old are you? 6? You shouldn't even be watching this movie. Everyone has a right to his opinion. Just because you don't agree with it, doesn't mean you gotta be a prick and attack this guy. again, grow up
@TheNaamaPalmu Hey troll! go fuck yourself. excuse me for expressing my opinion. I'm sorry you are too uptight to have an open mind. And oh how childish of you, to be calling me fat and trying to start some kind of fight JUST because our opinions differ. You must be so proud of yourself. you truly are the master of the internet. I beg your forgiveness for displeasing you.... yeah right, like I give a fuck what you think douche bag. suck a bag-o-dicks. k thx bye
@woodsy1234567890 He was made of liquid metal and can take the form of others through physical contact and turn his arms into stabbing weapons? I think I had him all wrong. He's pretty badass lol
Seriously??? Two kills is all it takes to be a double 0 agent???? I totally agree with this review. You totally nailed what's wrong with this movie. And it's obvious that you love the Bond Series and that you nitpick this apart because as a "big movie guy" you pay attention to what makes a movie good and what makes it suck!!! I felt exactly the same about it when I first saw it... disappointing potential! For shame, movie, for shame!!!
You seriosly take the fun out of this film. How about you just stop degrading it and actually use your imagination. Oh and by the way I'm watching this as my media course and they used balck and white to create suspence and slyness for effect.
@coollikecopiers There is no fun in this movie and that right there is why I can't stand it. This is way too serious to be a Bond movie. Not to mention all they do is talk talk talk and then we sit and watch a tedious poker game for 40 min. This is not exciting stuff. And now that you bring it up, you are taking my review a little too seriously as well. Lighten up man. Try to have fun with it instead of acting like I killed your dog by stating my opinion on this movie.
This movie is so grossly overrated. Being a Bond fan from day one, I felt alienated while watching this. It really does NOT feel or look like a Bond Movie. The 14 people that disliked this review must be agents of S.P.E.C.T.R.E
You should make a video that says something good about James Bond...........Because now it seems like you're making fun of James Bond...........If you are thats not cool if not than well everyone has the freedom of speach so In order for people to you are a Bond fan do a review of a bond movie you like.
@MegaVergan All in the future, my friend. I'm actually a HUGE Bond fan, which is why I feel so let down by this one. This has so little in common with the look, feel and fun of previous Bond films that it just DOESN'T feel like one. This is far too serious and (hate to say it) "realistic" to be a Bond movie. Not to mention that I found the story, the dialog and the (very little) action boring. Bond movies should never have you checking your watch. Thanks for not trolling tho, unlike some
@MegaVergan lol thanks. I'm just happy to see someone out there with an open mind that won't judge me/bash me based my opinion. So forget about a conversation with a fellow fan, I'm more happy to see an actual adult on here. Just fyi, Bond has ALWAYS been a part of my life and my family. Albert R. Broccoli is (was) actually a relative of mine. He was my uncle's uncle (w/e that makes him in relation to me) so needless to say, I know my Bond. Never met him tho sadly :(
@djm2A I actually WILL agree to that. QoS was just awful. The editing was crazy, the action had no point and the story was just lame. These 2 are polar opposites imo; CR had too much story, with little action and QoS had TOO MUCH action and no story what so ever to make me care. A good Bond film absolutely needs a healthy mix of both. there are few Bond films I truly dislike, but these two are at the top of the list. I just had no fun watching them. Bond doesn't belong in the real world.
hahahah Bond doesn't belong in the real world, I have to agree but bond doesn't live in the real world he's constantly off in figi then japan then california all around the world (I have a theory thats y never gets jett lag)all the while getting hot cuzz everynight with a trick up his sleave for every occasion... That's james bond, that's the movie we want to see... GIVE US SUM GADGETS Y DONT U... HE NEVER LAID WTF IS THISSSSS
Hey man, Don't let trolls like the guy below get you down. I loved this review even though I don't quite agree with it. In other words, I liked this movie. But I love your style and the way you use comedy and satire to "soften the blow." most of these dislikes likely came from people that watched for a minute or 2 and said "fuck this guy for having an opinion." I respect your opinion. if half of these idiots realized how talented you were they would too. this movie's fans are like rabid dogs lol
@XJbLIVEfilmsX No, I'm all for trying something new like the new Batman for instance. This isn't new, its a bastardization of a long tradition. There is nothing even remotely "Bond" in this. Not to mention that the character of Bond is ruined entirely. Seriously, he does nothing but fail throughout the entire thing. This felt more like a Bourne movie than a Bond movie imo, and a weak one at that. Poker does not make for thrilling action (at least not in a movie)
@XJbLIVEfilmsX Fine with me. Its just that your first comment seemed "troll-like" but I can see thats not the case. Sometimes its a fine line between "stating opinion" and "trolling." No harm done. I get a lot of shit for this. Some people act like I killed their dog or something. But I get people talking and I get em riled up so... I guess you could call it a success :P Don't judge me based on this review alone tho, check out my other stuff. You might just find something you like.
@DanSheaMovieReviews Have you read the books you retard?... He's the same as he is in the books.... the gadgets came in the Brosnan era WHICH CHANGED BOND and made him look like a Rambo with gadgets.... you fucking moron... get a life and stop going to mcdonalds cuz you fat anyway.
@Jove89 First things first you fucking troll, ALL Bond movies have had gadgets except for Dr. No. Gadgets were always a mainstay in the movies. Next, you fucking tool, books and films are different mediums all together and should never be compared. Apples and Oranges. And last, bashing someone based on their weight just because your opinion differs? Why don't you grow up and stop acting like a fucking child and get a life yourself. At least I found a way to express myself. Fuck you. k thx bye.
@DanSheaMovieReviews emotional enough you fucking fag?... lmao.. =)) ...anyway... I won't even argue with you since movies is not your business. go eat a slice of pizza.
@Jove89 Fuck yourself troll. Go back to your bridge in Romania. And btw, its only a movie. The fact that you get so butt-hurt by someone else's opinion about it says a lot about your character or lack there of. And again, grow up. You might thank me some day when your maturity level rises above that of a zygote. Eat a bag of dicks, while I enjoy my pizza. Du-te-n pizda mă-tii găozar. All the best.
@Jove89 Wow dude, lighten the fuck up. There's no need for any of that. I agree with this guy, you really need to grow up and get a life of your own. How about having an open mind? I myself LOVED this movie and the books. But I also really liked this review. I disagreed with it, but I was still entertained. Its better than most shit I've seen on youtube. If you could get your head out of your ass long enough, you would see that too. Oh ya, and Bond always had gadgets in the films stupid troll.
You realise that the whole point of this was to be accurate to the books. By that it means having Bond a darker character and not having gadgets because that's how they where in the books.
@Ihavealife100 I don't care. Its the movies that I grew up loving, not the books. Books and movies are always different entities. And honestly, if they made the movies from the start to be just like the books, I don't think there would be 20+ movies to watch. Its the sense of fun that always kept the films going. The Bond from the books is an entirely different character and they changed him for the better imo.
@DanSheaMovieReviews They shouldn't just say fuck the books like you're suggesting. I liked the films even if they do deviate but they still need to make at least some accurate so you being a bitch about how they changed what he's about is a bunch of BS.
Then for sure its safe to assume you loved Quantum of Solace? I mean it has all the classic Bond elements you felt were left out of this one. You get your precious car chase. You even get an airplane scramble! You get a better story more akin to that of older Bonds i.e. Goldfinger, you get a villian that drowns you in oil, a secret organization i.e. SPECTRE/Quantum bent on world domination, naked women in the opening, and even a better more upbeat opening song reminiscent of GoldenEye.
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Ironically, no. I hated QoS. in fact I thought CR was a better movie... and you know how much I hate CR. QoS had a bullshit plot (a villain who's big plot is a real estate scheme? Really?? In a Bond movie, that's the best they could come up with?) the opening was CLOSE to being good (song sucked and i hated the bland brown look of it) and the action had no point. They were trying to make long time fans happy, but failed on every level.
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Continued: To me, it goes CR had too much story, no action. QoS too much action, no story. A good Bond has a healthy mix of both. These two didn't.
@DanSheaMovieReviews Wow! Your a hard critic to please:-) How is the plot bullshit? Its very much in tune to older Bond plots. Take for example A View To A Kill. Zorin was going to cause an earthquake in sillicon valley so that he would have a monopoly on microchips. Or remember Goldfinger? He wanted to irradiate the gold in Fort Knox so that his supply of gold would increase in value. Im curious to know what you think is the best Bond movie.
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Its true that it is similar to other Bond films plot wise, but the two you mentioned were done much better and had a villain that actually DID something (and come on, can you EVER beat Christopher Walken? lol) My biggest problem with the Craig films is that the bad guys just are not a threat or a force to be reckoned with. and past Bond films also had a sense of fun. They took these two films WAY too seriously imo.
@DAVIDSILVERA2 As far as my favorite goes... that's a tough one to really pin down because there are so many. But I always liked From Russia With Love, Live and Let Die, Goldeneye, The Living Daylights, For Your Eyes Only and You Only Live Twice (lmao @ Asian Connery). Hell, even the massive stupidity of Moonraker holds a special place in my heart. I love em all really, with a few exceptions like CR, QoS, Octopussy and Never Say Never Again (Thunderball should never have been remade)
These really are not good reasons for not liking the movie. Its like saying you didn't like the Chris Nolan Batmans because it didn't take place in the 60's. Or that there was no Robin yelling "Holy underwear, Batman?" Or that Batman didn't carry shark repelent or answer a red phone tapped to the Commissoners office. Next you'll say The Dark Knight sucked because Harvey Dent was black in the Burton film:-) so he couldn't be white in the new one,or that Scarecrow never wore a business suit.
@DAVIDSILVERA2 LOL I actually love that you brought that up. I never understood why they made him black in Batman 89. He had so little impact on the movie anyway so it wasn't SO bad, but still pretty stupid imo. As for the rest of your comment, my arguments are very valid. Seeing as how CR was billed as a complete reboot while still keeping Judy Dench. The Batman reboot got A LOT more right than they got wrong. This movie kills Bond in every way imo. btw Bat Shark Repellent rules :)
James Bond movies are an aquired taste. Either you get it or you don't. I'm a Bond fan from day one. I thought the intro was awesome. Now, I love your taste on shootem up though. You should have your own show though.
@lordsergeo Thanks a lot! I am currently working on my "show" as i type this and am hoping to get more videos up at a much faster pace. Actually, Casino Royale was done on a whim and was the very first video that I ever made. But I had a lot of fun making it and I would very much like to continue for as long as I can. Look for more real soon.
When I see someone trashing what is easily the BEST of the modern Bond films with such bizarre vitriol... ya know, a Bond film with the best screenplay, the best performances, and the best, most visceral action scenes of any Bond film, for you to just trash it like it killed your dog, I can't help but think that that last idiotic Brosnan movie with the invisible car, the ice palace, and the ever so retarded Madonna cameo is more your speed. Have you even read a Fleming Bond novel? Get a clue.
@benway20 amen!!! I really found Bond films hard to watch for the better part of 15 years now due to it being just to far fetched. This one was awsome and the actor is in my opinion the best Bond since Conery. The feel of the film is more real even thuogh I know some of it is not possible it is just a Bond I can finnally get on board with. This tub of lard sporting a double chin is why films today have dumbed down so much.
Lol at 5:31.

it's still better than QoS...And ive actually learnt to like Casino Royale so im really looking forward to Skyfall :))
ukijhu97 2 weeks ago
@ukijhu97 CR is defiantly better in ever way than QoS. It's terrible. I too hope Skyfall kicks things up a notch. My only hope is that it leans a little more towards the traditional Bond formula. Its has Q, so that's a start. What worries me most tho is that Skyfall seems to share its major plot points with another cinematic masterpiece known as Crocodile Hunter: Collision Coarse XD
*I'm serious, look it up! haha

@ukijhu97 woops I totally misspelled that, I meant COURSE. Honest mistake :P

This is current generation James bond. I personally like goldeneye, Dr.no but I don't think the old style of bond would fly nowadays
JSN444 1 month ago
@JSN444 What exactly about the original Bond format "wouldn't fly nowadays" when Hollywood seems to have no problem putting out shit like, let's say, Sucker Punch? You really think traditional Bond is "too much" for today's audience? Even Die Another Day looks like Citizen Kane next to some "mainstream" movies these days, so I fail to see your point. I had no idea fun and exciting action movies were out of style. Bond is no crazier than your average superhero movie either so... What?
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 month ago
This film is good, but it's not a BOND film.
CallofDutyNikolay 1 month ago
@CallofDutyNikolay Exactly. Is this a "classically" bad film? Not really. Its just a piss poor (and far too serious) entry into a film series that I hold very dear. They simply changed too much in this one and made it seem more "Bourne" than "Bond" to tell you the truth. Not that I don't like Bourne, I do, its just a totally different feel, and I really am not a fan of the new direction. Also, Bond playing Poker??? Come on... Yawn. BLOW SHIT UP! lol
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 month ago
Ill admit you as a person have got all the NC review style spot on but I do find that while Casino Royale had its departures from the series it was still a very enjoyable Bond Movie.
Now to put all the hate to rest, please do a QoS review.
PLEASE!!!!!!!
xaxie1 2 months ago
@xaxie1 Thanks for that. Its totally fine that you disagree with me. I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, I just want people to have fun :) Seriously, you can imagine I get my fair share of trolls for this, so thanks for at the very least having an open mind.
Now as far as QoS goes, I would love to do one. I plan on it eventually but it might be a while. CR is like 1000x better than QoS in every way tho, so take that for what its worth lol.
Oh, and Merry Christmas
DanSheaMovieReviews 2 months ago
This movie was a reboot of the franchise so going forward they did not have to deal with all the bagage of the past. They are trying to depict a young agent at the beginning of their career with out all the fake spy gear thet dosent exist in the real world. This movie showed you can have a good action with a little heart where the character is not an complete man whore. Also are you seriously comparing Casino Royale with Shoot Em Up. Your whole review is just alot of whining and complaining.
jtjr26 2 months ago
@jtjr26 You honestly think that Daniel Craig is a good depiction of a "young agent" when he is clearly far too old? And no, I'm not comparing Casino Royale to Shoot Em Up, I'm comparing the credits of Shoot Em Up to the opening credits of a Bond movie. Casino Royale is not a Bond movie. Bond should never be taken seriously or realistically. You want a good, serious and realistic spy movie? Go watch the Bourne trilogy. Its far better in every way. Bond doesn't belong in the real world.
DanSheaMovieReviews 2 months ago
Thank you! I mean, I don't really hate it, but first time I watched it I was thinkning "What the hell is this? Where is Bond movie?" It wouldn't be so bad, I guess, if it was just som action movies with spies... but this was not a Bond movie, not at all...
BodoInMotion 2 months ago
@BodoInMotion No, thank YOU. Finally, someone who sees where I'm coming from. Sure, this might have been closer to the books, but who the hell cares? I grew up on Bond (movies). Wheres the fun? the excitement? the crazy car chases? The cool badass psycho villain? The gadgets? The witty dialog/double entendres? I'm not asking for a "good" movie, I'm asking for a Bond movie!

You must have so much free time eh? And I bet you loved Die Another Day.
MarcosAssmar 2 months ago
@MarcosAssmar No one will EVER call Die Another Day a "classic" or "one of the best" or anything like that. Its a fairly mediocre entry in the series BUT, unlike this and QoS, at least Die Another Day FELT like a Bond movie instead of a poker/exposition-filled Bourne ripoff. DAD was pretty stupid, but it kept the sense of fun that the series seems to have lost lately, and for that I give it a little credit. Still not very good tho, so no, you were wrong in your assumption
DanSheaMovieReviews 2 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews What I really liked about Cassino Royale (even though the timeline is completely fucked up) is that Daniel Craig accomplished to show a complete unexperienced agent, as Bond was at the time, making a lot of stupid decisions and not knowing how to act on a few occasions. What I don't like is the fact of him being so much brutal. But I do like a lot what they've changed about the villains. Enough of that crazy maniacs trying to conquer the world.
MarcosAssmar 2 months ago
@MarcosAssmar lol He really did fail A LOT in this movie, didn't he? I honestly think that Craig was miscast in the role. He looks far too old for a "origin of Bond on his first mission" sort of story. He looks too much like a hardened veteran. They needed someone much younger for this story to fly imo. If you ask me, I say that Jonathon Rhys Meyers would have been an excellent choice to play "young" James Bond. I don't but CR as a prequel, especially with Judi Dench in there.
DanSheaMovieReviews 2 months ago
@MarcosAssmar Woops, I meant "buy," not "but." Anyway, they should have really just said the hell with the book continuity and just made it their own by taking some liberties with it. There is no need to reboot Bond. Just continue the story after Die Another Day and switch out Bond. Its worked before. So what if DAD sucked? it can still get better if they continue on. They changed too much about Bond and I honestly didn't SEE Bond when I watched it, ya know what I mean?
DanSheaMovieReviews 2 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews Yeah, I know what you mean. I agree that he looks far too old to play Bond indeed. But I don't know, after DAD, the series needed to be revamped. DAD was a horrible movie and the worst way to say goodbye to Pierce Brosnam as James Bond. So when I saw CR, I was relieved to see something more 'down to earth', without all those gadgets and invisible cars. That's my point. And I still think Craig did a good job playing an unexperienced agent.
MarcosAssmar 2 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews He falling in love with Vesper was a great hook. It shows us why he has always been a womanizer and why he doesn't trust women and treats them like toys. But, unlike you, I haven't read the book, so I can't say much. But as a fan of the movie series, CR was really good. Specially after DAD, one of the worst of the whole series. QoS seems to me much more of a failure than CR.
MarcosAssmar 2 months ago
@MarcosAssmar I can't agree more about QoS. As much as I dislike Casino Royale, even I will admit that its like 1000x better than QoS. That movie was an absolute mess. its had no story. I'm serious, I've seen it twice I think, and I honestly have no clue what its about. The movie also can't sit still, with Bond jumping from country to country at the speed of light and waaaaay too much shakey cam action that had no point in between. Also, Bond was a major dick in it too.
DanSheaMovieReviews 2 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews I love it how james bond movies apparently can't change one bit from what? the source material? no! when they made the movies ''from russia with love'' and ''doctor no'' the source material (the books) was basically their main drive. after that, goldfinger? basically what you are refering to was created. the code of chicks, guns, cars, drinks, baddies and... james bond will return. after die anotherday they just realized they got a bit of the source material
newRo1ism 1 week ago
@newRo1ism Look, I understand that those things were created for the movies, and since then it has become a tradition of sorts. Books and movies are two totally different things and shouldn't be compared. I'm not now, nor was I ever interested in the books. I'm a fan of the movies. And let's face it, Bond is really its own movie genre at this point and changing the formula so drastically at the drop of a hat is bound to alienate some. Change is good, but they changed too much imo
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 week ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews i never said the book and film where comparable i said what the bond movies tried to do over the years. And after die another day they just felt like a complete new fresh start, did you know that the next one will feature Q again? Ben whishaw is due to play him. I think you have to see every bond era/actor as another universe. He changes in what audiences demand. like from Moore to Dalton, people just wanted more seriousness. Also..why review 4 years off
newRo1ism 1 week ago
@newRo1ism I was simply saying that something doesn't need to follow the source material to be good or bad in its own right. Jurassic Park for example is a fantastic film and it couldn't be MORE different from the book. People just love to to counter my views on this movie by saying "this movie is great because it follows the book!" Its nonsense, and I have always hated the "well, the book was better JUST BECAUSE" crowd, know what I mean? That's all I meant by that

8:20 Not according to Mythbusters you don't.
There is something positive about this movie though. In the 2008 season of Mythbusters, both myths involving the use of a minigun were shot in one day at the "secret location". So, in a very indirect way, we owe "Kari Byron shooting a minigun" to "Casino Royale"...
Cassavius 3 months ago
You get mad at the movie from trying to be different but then you get mad when it tries to follow similar formulas from previous Bonds by including Dench. You are just a Craig hater like everyone else. Casino Royale was a great movie. QOS was pretty mediocre I admit, but it was certainly better than the shit excuse for Bond films that was the later Brosnan movies. Goldeneye was good but it just went downhill for Pierce from there.
xFIRERUSHx 4 months ago
Hell any actor who had previously been in a bond film could have theoretically played M cause it's not the same bond universe. And then why not go with judi dench who is great as M
heavytom89 5 months ago
the points you are making about the villains are retarded. what exactly make the villans in the other movies better? If you like your over the top villian like jaws thats fine but every villian dont need to be a physical villian. And why cant judi dench be M if it is a reeboth even though she previously played the role ?? Is it really that hard for you to understand that this is not the same universe as the other Bond movies.
heavytom89 5 months ago
@heavytom89 You are honestly answering your own question about M. If this is a "different universe" then she doesn't belong. You can't mix cannons if you are trying to build your own, new cannon. Like the old saying goes, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If they really wanted this to stand on its own, away from the others, then they should have distanced it from them as much as possible. It makes no logical sense to change EVERYTHING else, but leave her in there.
DanSheaMovieReviews 5 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews There is one logical sense in it: Judy Dench is an awesome acress and I think the majority of fans can understand that she is obviously not the same M as in goldeneye
heavytom89 5 months ago
@heavytom89 I agree, Judy Dench is an awesome actress. I just don't think she belongs here. They really should have found someone new if their intention was to start fresh. Now on your other comment, I understand that there was a long rights battle for CR and BELIEVE me when I say that this is like Citizen Kane next to the garbage original (seriously Woody Allen as Bond... wtf WAS that? ) But the series has never stayed true to the continuity of the books, so why not just take some liberties?
DanSheaMovieReviews 5 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews i don't want to be like annoying, but it's actually judi.
kaitak101 5 months ago
@heavytom89 Now, this wouldn't have been a problem if they simply did what they have done in the past and changed the actor who plays Bond, while keeping everything else business as usual. Bond can change, that has been established a number of times. And each time he changed, the story and themes remained. it was never a "different universe" then, so why start now? This movie's problem is that it took the "reboot" route. Why not just continue the series instead of starting over after 50 years?
DanSheaMovieReviews 5 months ago
well basicaly because they finnaly got the rights to casino royale almost 50 years after and they really wanted to be as faithful as possible. And it is a good way to start fresh and saving the series after the disaster bomb that is die another day. This is the best bond movie since the sixties
heavytom89 5 months ago
@defenderDX9er Trolls always pretend not to understand the concept of a subjective opinion... or claim to understand it but just insult you for having one in the first place. So I say to you troll, go fuck yourself you insignificant little cretin. You don't like it? don't watch. Excuse me for having an opinion, oh master of the internet. Surely I should have made this video JUST to please you. My bad, I dunno what I was thinking. Go away. Btw 40 min of poker does not a good action movie make
DanSheaMovieReviews 5 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews 40 mins of poker? Fool where in the fuck did I say that? Besides the action sequences are much better and grittier. Got sick and tired of Pierce Brosnan Bond movies. Casino Royale felt new and refreshing. And I think that's the main reason why Quantum didn't do as well.
defenderDX9er 5 months ago
@defenderDX9er We are in total agreement there. QoS was terrible imo. Even I will admit that Casino Royale was like 100x BETTER than QoS. Oh and you didn't say "40 min of poker." I did, cuz that is exactly what we get at one point in the movie. That put me to sleep. Poker CAN be entertaining in movies (look at Maverick with Mel Gibson for instance) but in a Bond movie? That's not my idea of Bond-esque action. It brings the movie to a screeching halt, that's all I meant by that
DanSheaMovieReviews 5 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews And I am not defending Brosnan here. They may have gone a little overboard in the last few (tho Goldneneye is still one of my favorites in the series) But Craig was just miscast as Bond imo. I don't mind a more "tough as nails" approach to the character. But, ya know what? Timothy Dalton did a much better job at that. His movies were more realistic to an extent, and he was a tough badass, BUT he still played a likable character who kept the charm and wit of the past Bonds
DanSheaMovieReviews 5 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews Well, as for me, I love poker. Not to mention the fact I appreciate good cinematography and I know how difficult and hectic it is to shoot a card game. Besides in the middle of the poker it had the fight on the stairs, the near bond death from the poisoning. It def. wasn't 40 minutes of literal straight boredom like you say it was. There were things in between. But I guess it's what you're into i guess. Poker + James Bond + hot girls + nice cars + action = good f'n movie
defenderDX9er 5 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews No action? Ur fuckin blind dude. Daneil Craig makes Pierce Brosnan look like a pussy. And your review and opinion is trash. Complete and utter garbage. Horrible horrible review. Terribad to say the least.
defenderDX9er 5 months ago
@burn435353 Then again, past Bonds were much more likable. Craig plays the part so cold that I just don't see how anyone can find him appealing. The character WAS a cartoon, yes. and that was the whole point. Bond was never meant to be taken seriously. They should have tried less to make a "good movie" and more on making it fun and entertaining. True the last few weren't that great, but at least they still FELT like Bond. Bond can still "grow up" without losing the fun aspects. To each his own
DanSheaMovieReviews 5 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews well obviously we each are completely entitled to our own opinions, but i think you're being a bit to hard on the film, you cant say it wasn't fun at all, i mean in the very least you can appreciate that it subverts and reinvents bond conventions, honestly, i wouldn't have even said anything if i didnt think most of your other reviews were spot on, i just think you need to watch the film for what it is and not what you think it should be
burn435353 5 months ago

This is a bad review, and its not actually a review, it just you critizising a film, and its very hy
andygd8 5 months ago
@andygd8 No.... The reason Judy Dench doesn't belong here is because they treated this as if it were a reboot/prequel. If this took place AFTER Die Another Day, then it would be fine. They are trying to establish a brand new cannon here and keeping her is a mistake. It confuses people. They never should have gone the "reboot" rout. I hate when they do that. Just continue the story. Bond has been replaced before, just do it again. Mixing two cannons doesn't work. thus this movie fails
DanSheaMovieReviews 5 months ago
@andygd8 Ohh and its not hypocritical. Its called satire. Sorry if if went over your head. This is easily one of the most overrated movies i have ever seen. The villain is a failure, his "plan" is lame and Bond sits around for 40 MINUTES playing poker.... yeah that's really exciting stuff. I generally like action in my action movies, but hey, maybe thats just me. And since when is talking about key scenes (satirically or not) in a film NOT a review? your comment is just stupid.
DanSheaMovieReviews 5 months ago
I agree with you. This movie is totaly unlogical.
fanglo63 5 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews For me to explain why I hate TDK will take more than one comment (a video review maybe?) But basically TDK goes against the continuity of both the comics and Batman Begins, has many plot holes and was an attempt to make a batman film only for adults. That last one sounds just like what Tim Burton tried in 92 and was ridiculed for it because of his film having a scary villain. But TDK also has a "scary" villain and the same people applauded Nolan for doing what Burton did in
FrontAlleyBoys 6 months ago
@FrontAlleyBoys I can see where you're coming from, but for the record, I'll have it known that I absolutely loved Tim Burton's take on Batman as well as Nolan's. Yes, they stray a fair amount from the comics (especially Burton) but the films are self-contained enough without depending on knowledge about the comics that it really didn't matter to me. Oh and I loved the hell out of both Jokers (if I HAD to choose, I'd pick Heath), but both pale in comparison to Mark Hamill in the cartoon/games :)
DanSheaMovieReviews 6 months ago

FrontAlleyBoys 6 months ago
@FrontAlleyBoys I defiantly don't agree on the Dark Knight, but I see why you make the comparison. Both films are radically different takes on classic characters/stories that longtime fans might need time to get used to and accept. But, imo, unlike Casino Royale, TDK had great acting, great music and things actually happened. I had fun with Dark Knight, while CR holds the prestigious honor of being one of the few films to actually bore me to sleep.... twice. But to each his own

@Baam12123 Not really. I'm simply making fun of the movie for peoples entertainment :) This is not meant to be taken seriously. But it IS nice to see someone on youtube that can actually "respect" the fact that someone has an opinion. In an endless sea of worthless trolls, that's a rare thing so thanks for that much
DanSheaMovieReviews 7 months ago
Now that was a GOOD MOVIE! But I do get what your saying about how it's so different from other bond movies but it's a remake prequel.....they do this alot these days, but yeah the whole black and white thing is kindof a bum, but I guess it's a black and white moment for james bond
SnipeYourCheese 7 months ago
@SnipeYourCheese The way I see it is this: Change is a good thing. There is NOTHING wrong with change. Did the franchise need to change and "grow up" a bit? Maybe. Maybe not. The problem that I have with this movie and Craig himself as Bond is that they simply changed TOO MUCH. See, when you change too much, then you run the risk of alienating the long time fans. Bond films have a formula. When i saw this, I didn't SEE Bond, I saw a generic, talky and BORING Bourne spin off.
DanSheaMovieReviews 7 months ago
i like previous parts but this one seems if not more realistic than others then for sure not less-bond at least gets dirty.his shirt isn't snow white and perfectly ironed after rolling on the ground and other activities that may destroy it.where have u seen babies like this?and of course wanting to kill this guy he should brought him to an expensive, fashionable restaurant or sthi?intro-since it's CASSINO royal i guess those things are for e.g. bloodstreams and bullets made of carts' suits?...:/
highheels1400 7 months ago
firstly forgive me the mistakes-english isn't my mother tongue.i disagree with your opinion and the way u presented it was for me pathetic.i've watched other bond movies and i agree that this one was different but come on it's individual movie it's supposed to be different in some ways.u found some mistakes in chronology presented in this part but if u want to be so strict u should also notice that it's not the first one :Dr.

DanSheaMovieReviews 8 months ago
I watched Casino Royale with lower expectations. But I most say it's a five star movie. A powerful remake. Hopefully, they will keep that strategy for future films. Past Bond movies are good for once in a while entertainment, but this one is good to have it in the collection.
carlosaldm 9 months ago
@carlosaldm I respect your opinion and your ability to express it without being another troll (you know the type, I'm sure) however I have to disagree. See, imo "Bond Movies" are not your everyday action movie, but their own genre. There are certain things you come to expect from a Bond movie. This has none of those things. While CR might be considered a good movie to many, it remains a piss poor Bond movie.
DanSheaMovieReviews 9 months ago
@carlosaldm Oh and you should check out the Bond Blueprint series here on youtube to see where I'm coming from. Its a great watch and is actually quite interesting. Check it out if you get the chance

Chaxel2010 9 months ago
if you don't like the opening sequence and want to use an example of a great bond intro, why didn't you use a previous bond intro as an example instead of two unrelated movies?
and second, you shouldn't judge a villian on thier appearance, characters like Yoda and HAL 9000 prove that appearance doesn't determine everything
videotapereturner24 10 months ago
@videotapereturner24 Ok I used unrelated movies to show that films that aren't even trying to be Bond films are doing it right/better, while this couldn't, even tho it was in fact trying to be a Bond film.
Second, yes, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. However, this guy didn't do anything to "disprove" his appearance. In other words, by the end of the movie, he was still frail and useless and defiantly not a worthy adversary for a guy like Bond. and come on, he DOES look like a baby :P
DanSheaMovieReviews 10 months ago
By the way, if you read all of that without falling asleep or getting bored of my prattle, kudos to you, well done, good sir. I salute you.
(Even I'd fall asleep. Kinda lost my train of thought half way through if that isn't blatantly obvious.)
TheDevilWearsWabbit 10 months ago
@TheDevilWearsWabbit Amen to that. I'm sick of all the remakes and shit coming out these days too. A tad off topic, but true none the less. I wish they would STOP remaking the classics and bastardizing the integrity of the originals (Planet of the Apes come to mind). If you wanna remake something, then remake something that wasn't all that good to begin with. God forbid coming up with original ideas. I miss the days of popcorn action movies like Commando lol. Just watch it, no thinking needed

DanSheaMovieReviews 10 months ago
I think the reason that the intro looks like a bad ps1 game is because the silhouetted characters are composed of the suits of cards, the diamonds, most commonly. However I couldn't agree more with the rest of it.
TheDevilWearsWabbit 10 months ago
@TheDevilWearsWabbit Yeah I totally get what they were going for. But does it look at all like what you would expect in a Bond intro? nope. How can you do a Bond intro without nude silhouettes of women? MADNESS I SAY! lol
DanSheaMovieReviews 10 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews As I said, I completely agree, I expect this from some sort of bad porn variation of the plot. (Lord knows they'd be easier to relate the stereotypical Bond character with than Mr. Craig.) If you ask me, James bond had it's run and it was amazing, at this point they're kicking the dead horse or trying to squeeze diamonds from a turd, it's time for them to flush the toilet if you get what I mean.
TheDevilWearsWabbit 10 months ago
@TheDevilWearsWabbit I think its really just time for them to stop trying to make a "serious" or "realistic" Bond movie. They need to stop trying to put Bond in the real world and bring back the fun that the series was always known for. Let's face it, Bond was always a living cartoon character, and that (along with the over the top plots and interesting villains) made the series special. Bond w/o gadgets and in the real world is FAIL imo. Bond needs to be "larger than life," ya know?
DanSheaMovieReviews 10 months ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews As it stands, the movie making industry is fundamentally gone to hell in my honest opinion, it saddens me to say it because not only does it give me a very bleak outlook on the new titles it also gives me very little to nothing to look forward too. It just seems like they've tried to improve on perfection and come up with nothing but bad remakes, failed sequels and sordid attempts at giving what they think the audience wants.
TheDevilWearsWabbit 10 months ago
@TheDevilWearsWabbit Really, they want to be treat like they used to be, unsheltered and open minded. We want action, give us action. 'Nuff said. We don't want pointless backstory. We want damn good, rough, intense cinema. Like the good old days when media was so dumbed down and mediated to the point of abyss.
I can't claim to be as big as a movie lover as you are, hell I'm into Games more than movies, but even then it's the same, the best games have been exploited and used like a cheap whore
TheDevilWearsWabbit 10 months ago
@TheDevilWearsWabbit until they've lost the tred on the tires so to speak. James Bond was amazing in it's prime, while I agree it may still have potential, I love it enough to let it go and let it drop into the hall of cinematic history. Hell, maybe even a sequel or a prequel would be so so so so much better if they timed it right, however, it's kind of like... Oh I don't know... Final Fantasy maybe? Imagine back in the days when it first touched our hearts, it was a Long. Ass. Time ago. And yet
TheDevilWearsWabbit 10 months ago
@TheDevilWearsWabbit It's exploited to the point where there's only a small fan-base now of the people who used to enjoy the first few games. with maybe yes, a few others.
Possibly a bad example, I don't know, to be perfectly honest I can't really think of many examples that could even compare to James Bond. You may be able to being more of a movie buff than I am.
Point is, it's been done. That's all I can really say. Maybe in the future it can come back, but it'll never be as fantastic.
TheDevilWearsWabbit 10 months ago
@TheNaamaPalmu wow dude..... seriously, grow up. You really trying to act all big and bad over the internet? way to be an asshole. Why so mad? And it's obvious that you love the Bond Series and that you nitpick this apart because as a "big movie guy" you pay attention to what makes a movie good and what makes it suck!!! I felt exactly the same about it when I first saw it... disappointing potential! For shame, movie, for shame!!!

You seriosly take the fun out of this film. How about you just stop degrading it and actually use your imagination. Oh and by the way I'm watching this as my media course and they used balck and white to create suspence and slyness for effect.
coollikecopiers 11 months ago
@coollikecopiers There is no fun in this movie and that right there is why I can't stand it. This is way too serious to be a Bond movie. Not to mention all they do is talk talk talk and then we sit and watch a tedious poker game for 40 min. This is not exciting stuff. And now that you bring it up, you are taking my review a little too seriously as well. Lighten up man. Try to have fun with it instead of acting like I killed your dog by stating my opinion on this movie.
DanSheaMovieReviews 11 months ago
This movie is so grossly overrated. Being a Bond fan from day one, I felt alienated while watching this. It really does NOT feel or look like a Bond Movie. The 14 people that disliked this review must be agents of S.P.E.C.T.R.E

You should make a video that says something good about James Bond...........Because now it seems like you're making fun of James Bond...........If you are thats not cool if not than well everyone has the freedom of speach so In order for people to you are a Bond fan do a review of a bond movie you like.
MegaVergan 1 year ago
@MegaVergan All in the future, my friend. I'm actually a HUGE Bond fan, which is why I feel so let down by this one. This has so little in common with the look, feel and fun of previous Bond films that it just DOESN'T feel like one. This is far too serious and (hate to say it) "realistic" to be a Bond movie. Not to mention that I found the story, the dialog and the (very little) action boring. Bond movies should never have you checking your watch. Thanks for not trolling tho, unlike some
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews Well at least you are a James Bond fan! Its always good to have a conversation about James Bond with a fan!

Never met him tho sadly :(

djm2A 11 months ago
@djm2A I actually WILL agree to that. QoS was just awful. The editing was crazy, the action had no point and the story was just lame. These 2 are polar opposites imo; CR had too much story, with little action and QoS had TOO MUCH action and no story what so ever to make me care. A good Bond film absolutely needs a healthy mix of both. there are few Bond films I truly dislike, but these two are at the top of the list. I just had no fun watching them. Bond doesn't belong in the real world.

Stupid. Your stating trying something new is dumb and we should just have rehashes of things were use too. Stupid.
XJbLIVEfilmsX 1 year ago
@XJbLIVEfilmsX No, I'm all for trying something new like the new Batman for instance. This isn't new, its a bastardization of a long tradition. There is nothing even remotely "Bond" in this. Not to mention that the character of Bond is ruined entirely. Seriously, he does nothing but fail throughout the entire thing. This felt more like a Bourne movie than a Bond movie imo, and a weak one at that. Poker does not make for thrilling action (at least not in a movie)
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews Good points. We all have opinions, obviously, i just feel that this is a proper bond for the era we're in today.

@XJbLIVEfilmsX Fine with me. Its just that your first comment seemed "troll-like" but I can see thats not the case. Sometimes its a fine line between "stating opinion" and "trolling." No harm done.
MegaFrostyX 1 year ago
@Jove89 You dont need to be acting like this because everybody has a right to there own opinion!
MegaVergan 1 year ago
You realise that the whole point of this was to be accurate to the books. By that it means having Bond a darker character and not having gadgets because that's how they where in the books.
Ihavealife100 1 year ago
@Ihavealife100 I don't care. Its the movies that I grew up loving, not the books. Books and movies are always different entities. And honestly, if they made the movies from the start to be just like the books, I don't think there would be 20+ movies to watch. Its the sense of fun that always kept the films going. The Bond from the books is an entirely different character and they changed him for the better imo.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago 4
@DanSheaMovieReviews They shouldn't just say fuck the books like you're suggesting. I liked the films even if they do deviate but they still need to make at least some accurate so you being a bitch about how they changed what he's about is a bunch of BS.
Ihavealife100 1 year ago
Then for sure its safe to assume you loved Quantum of Solace? I mean it has all the classic Bond elements you felt were left out of this one. You get your precious car chase. You even get an airplane scramble! You get a better story more akin to that of older Bonds i.e. Goldfinger, you get a villian that drowns you in oil, a secret organization i.e. SPECTRE/Quantum bent on world domination, naked women in the opening, and even a better more upbeat opening song reminiscent of GoldenEye.
DAVIDSILVERA2 1 year ago
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Ironically, no. I hated QoS. in fact I thought CR was a better movie... and you know how much I hate CR. QoS had a bullshit plot (a villain who's big plot is a real estate scheme? Really?? In a Bond movie, that's the best they could come up with?) the opening was CLOSE to being good (song sucked and i hated the bland brown look of it) and the action had no point. They were trying to make long time fans happy, but failed on every level.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Continued: To me, it goes CR had too much story, no action. QoS too much action, no story. A good Bond has a healthy mix of both. These two didn't.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DanSheaMovieReviews Wow! Your a hard critic to please:-) How is the plot bullshit? Its very much in tune to older Bond plots. Take for example A View To A Kill. Zorin was going to cause an earthquake in sillicon valley so that he would have a monopoly on microchips. Or remember Goldfinger? He wanted to irradiate the gold in Fort Knox so that his supply of gold would increase in value. Im curious to know what you think is the best Bond movie.
DAVIDSILVERA2 1 year ago
@DAVIDSILVERA2 Its true that it is similar to other Bond films plot wise, but the two you mentioned were done much better and had a villain that actually DID something (and come on, can you EVER beat Christopher Walken? lol) My biggest problem with the Craig films is that the bad guys just are not a threat or a force to be reckoned with. and past Bond films also had a sense of fun. They took these two films WAY too seriously imo.
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
@DAVIDSILVERA2 As far as my favorite goes... that's a tough one to really pin down because there are so many. But I always liked From Russia With Love, Live and Let Die, Goldeneye, The Living Daylights, For Your Eyes Only and You Only Live Twice (lmao @ Asian Connery). Hell, even the massive stupidity of Moonraker holds a special place in my heart. I love em all really, with a few exceptions like CR, QoS, Octopussy and Never Say Never Again (Thunderball should never have been remade)
DanSheaMovieReviews 1 year ago
These really are not good reasons for not liking the movie. Its like saying you didn't like the Chris Nolan Batmans because it didn't take place in the 60's. Or that there was no Robin yelling "Holy underwear, Batman?" Or that Batman didn't carry shark repelent or answer a red phone tapped to the Commissoners office. Next you'll say The Dark Knight sucked because Harvey Dent was black in the Burton film:-) so he couldn't be white in the new one,or that Scarecrow never wore a business suit.
DAVIDSILVERA2 1 year ago 2
@DAVIDSILVERA2 LOL I actually love that you brought that up. I never understood why they made him black in Batman 89. He had so little impact on the movie anyway so it wasn't SO bad, but still pretty stupid imo. As for the rest of your comment, my arguments are very valid. Seeing as how CR was billed as a complete reboot while still keeping Judy Dench. The Batman reboot got A LOT more right than they got wrong. This movie kills Bond in every way imo. btw Bat Shark Repellent rules :)
