Man this is absolutely fantastic. Now I'm pretty amateur, actually I'm a total novice when it comes to synths and programming and I actually have no idea what you're talking about through most of this, but how does this thing work in layman's terms?

Do you have to have it plugged into a computer with some sort of program or could you just sit with it on your lap and doodle around?

The tenori on is more of a 'sit on your lap and doodle around' thing as it doesn't require a computer.

The monome is simply an interface - it doesn't do anything until you run some software on the computer. I have a collection of monome videos here on youtube so you can get an idea of some of the things that are possible with an open-ended device, but, as always, the best resource of monome information is to go direct to the source at monome dot org
