  • One of the bests bands ever Phill is a great man with a great mind.

  • I bet you lot out there didn't know this. This was recorded at the old Regal Cinema in Hitchin. The fucking planners pulled this fantastic building down and built a cunting supermarket on it!

  • The best band ever.

  • This probably has to be the most intense rock songs I've heard from the 70's. Just so driving, and the lyrics are so powerful yet desperate.

  • @UTF Agreed this song does kick some serious ass. If you like this one you need to hear are you ready in HQ. I know, and your welcome lol. Its nice to see there are still people whi know where real music is at. Take her easy.

  • excellentttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • I love this theme!

  • FUCK YEAH!

  • GENIUS!

  • Proper rock band this

  • @Selecta88 Yes, very well put.. In the dictionary, under 'rock', Lizzy is listed as the hardest. This track shows many aspects of the genius which Phil and the guys created, but it mainly showcases Brian Downey... the most under-rated rock drummer, and the engine room of the best band ever.. this quality is timeless, and won't be repeated.

  • Going to see Thin Lizzy in February. Really very excited all ready, yet a little sad that Mr. Phil Lynott will not be there.

  • Awesome, as usual...

  • That slide does it

  • That part where phil does the slide down the bass!!! This gets my heart pumping every time!!!!If you dont like this version of the song, you are not welcome in my house.

  • @Raiderfn31 Same thing for me dude!!!

  • Can you believe this group is *not* in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?

  • Seeing them tomorrow night....phil wont be there in body but he will be there in spirit!

  • why cant there be bands today with such quality/

  • @liamor37

Because this generation of musically talented LIVED music and played their instruments all day. Bands today are pre-occupied with career, production, and money.

  • Wish I could have seen this line up...AWESOME!

  • lol, it will take more than some crappy video editing to ruin this rocking tune!

  • RIP Bono.

  • fantatsic legends of rock

  • The fact that some of you are wishing for bono would probably sicken phil.

  • Somebody mentioned Phil Living and bono dying, I pray for that every fucking day.

  • KICK-ASS!!!!!!!!!!

  • I photographed Thin Lizzy in 77 when they opened for Queen. TO see the shots go to 70srockphotos (.com)

  • ohh, bono is not that bad, there is many shit living, why bono?

  • DUCARAI!!!!!

  • 4 dislikes...fuck off and get yir lugs cleaned oot man

  • I hope I get to see them live in October with Judas Priest. :D

  • @kennny123456789 where? is their current tour getting any good reviews? I thought about going to see them in marseille, but too long a drive for a warm up act, you know? (2.5hrs)..

  • @geansai333 To be honest I'm not entirely sure the tour has started already. Thin Lizzy is part of the farewell tour that Judas Priest is doing. It's either you catch Judas or you don't kinda thing. The concert is going to be In San Bernardino. 2.5 hours? That is a long drive. It's Thin Lizzy though so I'd bust it. :D

  • CLASSIC HARDROCK 1978 STYLE !

  • ahhhhhhh!!!!!! i just had an eargasm!!!!

  • Saw Thin Lizzy many times including the Live and Dangerous tour - It was epic - Have the album too.

  • Holy shit this is amazing.

  • This is what rock and roll is all about!

  • Lizzy always knew how to end a brilliant song.

  • I'm not especially a Thin Lizzy, but this song fuckin' rocks ! Massacre is a real good song. Lizzy always had brilliant musicians like Sykes, Robertson, Moore, Downey... and of course MR Lynott !

  • @danstrikeeagle

Dude, Phil Lynott wasn't just a muscician of Thin Lizzy. He *was* Thin Lizzy. He wrote every word, and the core of every song almost. Just sayin.

  • @4JRimmer Yeah, you're right. That is why I wrote MISTER Phil Lynott. Of course, Lynott was Lizzy's brain and soul. Much respect for him and what he achieved. We miss him, and Gary Moore too.

  • CHOREI AO OUVIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Where's the "Fucking LOVE" button for this vid? "Like" just isn't enough!

  • @AsaiMoonsault , totally agree ! Brian Downey drives this... He remains the most under-rated drummer of all time. Phil's vocals here show why he's the greatest ever live. Look at this, and learn..

To all the new bands out there... here's what you need to aspire to..

    Thank you Lizzy

  • One of the best intros/gear changes ... and also one of the most tasteful uses of vocal delay.

  • Another sadly missed rock god, RIP Philo

  • FUCKING EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how could anyone dislike this? mental

  • Absodiddly freaking awesome!

  • How can this video only have 211,997 visits and rebecca black have 162,271,446?

    Whats wrong with the world?

  • @javsdfmetal that's nothing justin beaver has 550 millions hits on his site ,that's what you call popular, that's life .

  • @1jackiea I suppose teenage girls with no taste for real music, don't have anything else to do than watching Justin Bieber's videos again and again.

This song is fucking great. Listening to this song you can clearly see Thin Lizzy have been one of the most influential rock bands ever, and without them rock and metal wouldn't be the same.

That intro with the double guitar melody, sublime.

That riff, composed years before the new wave of brittish heavy metal started, just fucking awesome.

  • @japsd mate i'm LIzzy no1 fan ,on these site everyday.have their logo tatooed on my hip!don;t worry the beaver will come and go ,but his still laughing all the way to the bank !!arsehole !!!LOVE LIZZY.

  • @1jackiea Just in Beaver, That's funny!

  • @MrTenitis yeh whatever !

  • @1jackiea I don't watch TV too much. I aw the little dude by chance the other night. He doesn't even look real. I have no clue what he sounds like.

  • @MrTenitis you should ,he is from U.S. all i know his had half a billion hits on his site ,and he is bloody RICH ,WTF 17!!!

  • @1jackiea Finally heard him, to each their own. He must be for the teenyboppers

  • @MrTenitis young exciteable girls mainly ,how 's your friend going ??ha ha .

  • @1jackiea argument over.

  • @javsdfmetal who is Rebecca Black ??

  • Phil Lynott, a true musical hero and inspiration.

  • 1:16 the best riff on the bass. Miss you Phil

  • Best guitar tandum ever. And yes i'm aware of Hetfield and that other guy. And Claudio Sanchez and that other guy. Shred Shred Shred.

  • Unreal...you can just feel phil's passion in this song....they dont make them like him anymore RIP

  • this only reminds me of how music is dead these days.

i wish i was my age i am now, in the 70's/80's

  • @adamwould1 If you think music is 'dead' then you're clearly looking in all the wrong places.

  • 4 people clicked Dislike by mistake.

  • yeh, i feel the same about Phil dying, really pisses me off ,to think he had so much more to offer to the band. There will be no other.

  • This is as pure fucking Rocker Roller as it gets friends!

  • GRANDE PHILL LYNOTT¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Wouldn't it have been so much better if Phil lived and Bono died?

  • @Coltaculuss True but very harsh.

  • @Coltaculuss phil`s amazing voice has no match...

  • @Coltaculuss Would better if both lived huh.

  • @Coltaculuss bit harsh to say that , remember he (bono) does help to feed the starving people in the world and so on .

  • @Coltaculuss Bono has been having heart trouble lately, so fingers crossed eh? lol.

  • @Coltaculuss yeh pretty harsh words man !!II'm no Bono fan BUT he Does Do some GOOD Charities for underprivelged countries .O.K..!!!!

  • @Coltaculuss

actually the two were good mates that both lived in dublin and had a few pints together every now and then, untill bono started to wise up to what phil was doing to himself, and he regrets not reaching out to phil in the end. and theres very few irish thin lizzy fans that dont have one or two u2 songs on their ipod. speaking of having a few, I wouldent be amazed if you drank enough to kill a horse before you typed your little gem of a comment on here.

  • @Coltaculuss all of irelands with ya on that one dude

  • This is beyond awesome! I can't believe this was recorded in the mid/late 70's. It reminds me of the first Iron Maiden LP (anno 1980) but with more guts, balls and afro. Truly progressive hard rock .

  • I wish I had been at this gig , it would of been fucken awesome .

  • ZAWSZE MAM CIARY GDY TE GITARKI SŁYSZĘ I GARY TO ŚWIETNIE PRACUJĄ....I TEN GŁOS PHILLA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK !!!!!

  • Killer performance! The show was probably killed too! And as they say, never trust a junkie, it's what drug addict are best at, hiding shat!

Loved this guy and his music all the same...

    hellmarys

  • he looks heallthy for a drug addict + alcoholic

  • @Woodeh06 And you know how to type...which is uncommen for a mongoloid.

  • @johnydafox i am a massive lynott fan btw, and its uncommon you prick

  • This is too epic for words.

  • @roguelead72 could not have said it better....thanks

  • no wonder iron maiden made a cover to this great masterpiece....

  • Thank you for posting this song, it is one of my favorites, and just some food for thought, I feel that this song is a precursor to the metal movement that soon followed this songs particular generation, the speed and intensity demonstrated here is phenomenal for its time and I bet every metal band from the late 70s and early 80s can lay claim to hearing this song as being a inspirational moment in their musical lives. Great song, amazing band.

  • Ladies and gentlemen... Mr. Brian Downey.. engine room of the greatest rock band ever, and one of the most under-rated drummers of all time.

    This is legendary stuff..

  • @zoned247 .. Couldn't of said any better .. Downey is a monsta !!! .. Any of the drummers that Thin Lizzy used in his absence couldn't 'swing' a groove like Brian ... this is the best Lizzy line up hands down ..accept no substitutes

  • @zoned247 amen to that good sir!!

  • HEY,its a bloody top tune played by the likes of which we will never see again.period.

  • "at point below zero...there is nowhere else to go". For those of you who have been to this place mind body and soul. Not fun. Very scary. Peace to you

  • That is complete rubbish about the robbery by mime artists. It was loosely based on the Alamo

  • iron maiden was clearly influenced by this song...

  • @alcalaed Iron Maiden covered it once too.

  • Such a heavy band, but at the same time swinging and with lots of soul. Imaginative lyrics, also. Damn, they were maybe even better than I realized at the time.

  • I love Thin Lizzy & Phil, I just want to cry because of his death.......what a fucken amazing band!

  • @deangsmith Maybe some day there will be another genius.... I doubt of this calibre

  • @moonatic2u, i doubt it, we can only hope. John Sykes came the closest to replicating Phil's voice.......he will never be replaced!

  • @moonatic2u

@moonatic2u, i doubt it, we can only hope. John Sykes came the closest to replicating Phil's voice.......he will never be replaced!

  • that man was born with some heavy blues in his soul

  • this is heave metal.

  • Greatest Thin Lizzy song ever!

  • is everyone really this retarded?

  • @6petey9 It is youtube...

  • Brian Robertson now lives in my hometown

  • Ahh they days when concerts were more than "lets see how much money we can get out these suckers!". When you bought a ticket to a real rock band you got a real rock show! RIP Phil

  • @josiahcampbell

Right on the spot, this was the best of times seeing live bands cause they lived the life of an artist.

  • this song is so Powerful .... the lyrics are so best...the music so much better, the sound of both guitars at same time is a classic! thin lizzy was the creator of this sound, so copied for muchs others like iron maiden, thanks for share this classic video

  • I wish this was a woman so I could marry it.

  • Incredible... Unbeaten to this very day.

  • seeing this live would be one of the greatest moments of my life... i hope all those people know how lucky they were!!!

  • I always loved the dual Les Paul thing..I think that's why I dig Valient Thorr so much.. it's like puttiung on a Thin Lizzy record and listening to it at 78 speed

  • I had a drink with him @dingwalls in camden great guy.Rock on Phil xx

  • Can you find a more perfect album title?

  • It's amazing how much better this song is live. One of my favorites.

  • I 've been listening this one for thirty years now and still it blows me up.

    RIP you legent.

  • Very few people know that this song is actually about an occasion when Phil was at a car wash that was robbed by two mime artists from a travelling circus who were carrying socks full of marbles.

  • @flashtin166 LOL

  • @flashtin166 why did they carry marbles aorund?

  • @donnjuansohn The socks full of marbles were used as weapons during the robbery.

  • @AndrewSmith1979 Like I said, very few people know this. It comes as quite a suprise to most fans : )

  • @flashtin166 Massacre was primarily written by Phil Lynott and the song is about how the white people from Europe first invaded America and slaughtered alot of the American Indians just so they could take over the land. Phil felt real empathy towards the American Indians over this. This info comes from a 2007 interview with Scott Gorham from Thin Lizzy, talking about what the song "Massacre" is about. Scott Gorham also co-wrote this song. The interview is on the Live And Dangerous DVD.

  • @AndrewSmith1979 That is indeed the "official" version of events and it is certainly possible to read such an interpretation into the piece. However the incident was kept quiet at the time and covered up until very recently. It was thought that the fans would lose respect for the band if they ever found out about the theft of Phil's afro. Many fan still can't accept the truth as they feel threatened by such a shocking revelation. Indeed Phil was deeply traumatised by the event.

  • @flashtin166 are you serious?

  • @flashtin166 if that is what the song is about why is the last line "Six hundred unknown heroes, Lay dead in the sand" it seems to have no relevance to your story...

  • @exterminater999 That is clearly a case of artistic license. I believe only about six people were injured in the incident.

  • @exterminater999 You're great at getting jokes

  • @moonatic2u

It's about the charge of the light brigade, there is a world outside of the usa :D.

  • @UltraPic

i was mislead. I apologize. I had read a interview with gorham yrs ago that stated it was for the mistreatment of the american indian and since devils canyon is not far from little bighorn and buffalo are mentioned and the intro has a native american feel to it and the 7th cavalry's numbers were well under 700 I just assumed.. oops

  • @UltraPic but there are quite a few devils canyons in north america and "valleys of death" in the world as noted in the charge of the light brigade.

  • @flashtin166 he makes playing at such a frenetic pace look so effortless.....

  • @flashtin166 That is beautiful.......I am still laughing

  • @shafle1 fuck you prick

  • @ashleysellers50 WTF???????

  • @flashtin166 very few people know that because it's not true, the socks were filled with reese's pieces...as any fan would know....phil's favorite candy.

  • @flashtin166

    Is that really true?!

  • @flashtin166 We would've got away with it too if it wasn't for that meddling bass player.

  • So friggin' good! Remember when I saw them... On several occasions.

  • Yeah, you bought Live & Dangerous as a youngster, and then an eternity later you realize you could have stopped buying records right there. It's still up on top.

  • It won't be done better. Ever.

  • "600 hundred unknown heroes, killed like sleeping buffalo."

  • Just shy of three minutes of rock perfection. Thats it.

  • Gorham/Robertson lineup is my favourite! From "Nightlife" ---->"Live and dangerous". "L & D" is still a classic, although it was not all live. Scott and Brian, what a team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course Lizzy never made a bad album, but those are the best. I think "Fighting" is underrated. I love that (WILD) one!

  • great drums great song fn great thin lizzy song

  • THIS SONG KICKS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thru the devils canyon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my number one drummer of all time! B D !!!!

  • 400th like. If only I was the 4 billionth. They would deserve it

  • this is why 33 yrs. later, i still listen to this shit. wish todays music was more like this. brian downey on drums!

  • Live and dangerous was the first LP I ever bought when I was still at school. Brian Downeys expanded shuffling drum style has always amazed me. It was him as inspired me to start playing drums in 1980. So sad that Phil Lynott died young. I regretted never seeing Thin Lizzy live.

  • the drummer looks like Clive Burr :)

  • At rehearsal earlier, our drummer couldn't decide which song beats him up worse.....this one or Sha La La!

  • The best of Thin Lizzy,i can´t stop listen to this!!!!!

  • Heavy Metal Roots baby!!

  • Elvis is The King of Rock and Roll

    Phil is The King

  • top ten greatest albums of all time.. RIP phil..

  • phil lynot y compañia haciendo estragos. muy buenos.

    un genio

  • greatest classic rock band of all time straight up

  • rock nower days has been given a bad name since slipknot and that shit. but when you listen to early stuff its proper and decent music

  • Kick Ass Song!!

  • um does anyone know what crybaby signature pedal brian used for this show?

  • @tivo60 no wah wah is in this song??
