Hey everyone, when you’re done moving your money from big banks to small ones, move on from “The Huffy Don’t Post” as well to punish the website for its cowardly censorship policies. When I recently used The Huffington Post’s own figures to create my “Joe Averageguy” analogy, which argues that the overall global temperature has leveled off since 1998, The “Huffy Don’t Post” deleted my comments and removed my profile, Xarkonul. Please see my YouTube channel (Xarkonul).
I bank with the same bank I use, when my dad bought his house he asked about a interset only loan. To which the loan officer said "That's an incredibly stupid idea" he went "Uh?" he went "Your going to take on a $150,000 debit and your telling me you never wanna pay it down and then in 15 years write a check for $150,000?" he went "good point" pointing out my dad hasn't even lived ina place for more then 15 years, so yea. This is a small bank BTW which is doing good right now
Keep an account open at the big bank but only leave around 50.00 in it in case u need some last minute change and arent in a area that has ur credit union ATM. I have 2 Credit union accounts and they are great. they gave me a car loan at 4.9% years ago, approved me on the spot and printed up a check right then for me to go to the dealership with.
Nuumskee, that would not work with Wells Fargo checking. They're charging $10 a month just for a basic checking account, whether I write a single check or not! And it's the same with TCF.
When I opened my TCF account, student checking was free. Now it's $10 a month. That's mostly why I'm moving my money. And also it's what I can do as part of the Move Your Money protest.
I Moved my money to a great Credit Union (Member of FDIC, An HONEST Credit Car I'm saving money on fees and credit card charges, making a little interest and most gratifying - Getting Revenge !! They don't care about my account but they sure as hell care about "Our Accounts" Make them listen.
Thank you TYT for this valuable info, and thanks to Arianna Huffington for sharing the idea. I will start supporting community banks when the time comes, and spread that support to other footholds in the community, such as bookstores.
Yes, I think so... my credit Union didnt engage in subprime loans at all. they gave me a 5.6% rate a few years ago when other banks were giving people with good credit 7% and up mortgages. They even call me on the weekends if somethe weird shows up on my account. but my back is a Federal Credit union so maybe its pretected because its Federal
Capitalism just doesn't work when Capitalists start getting involved.
In the never ending quest to get as much stuff as one possibly can, people seem to forget that the idea of currency only works when it's part of an economic SYSTEM. When big banks and big business hog up all of the money, they kill off their food supply. Here's an idea I propose. If you expect to make $10m next year, shoot for $7m instead, and let that remaining $3m go to allowing a couple hundred people go on working.
It is not just a matter of killing off the money supply, it is a matter of they find it far more profitable to invest the money in things like dirivitives, which often end up doing nothing but inflate their own value.
Yes, agreed. When I use my little "food supply" analogy, I'm referring more to the Old West American tradition where hunting buffalo was a fun little sport for them, and then they ended up killing all of them off, and then there was nothing left for them to do. So I'm referring to what you said, and the fact that they're making themselves so rich that they won't have anyone to be customers anymore. And the derivatives nonsense is disgusting.

It amazes me how, even now, there are banks who act like they had nothing to do with this.
You confront them with these FACTS and they still won't admit it.
Fuck the big banks.
If you fail at another job - imagine you're a mechanic, or a cook, or a builder - and you fail, YOU WOULD BE FIRED!!!
If you fail as a banker, the same rules should apply.
Same with politics, same with law.
I'm sick of these white collar criminals.
Nice to see there's an alternative to put the pressure on.

Bankers werent the ones that failed. They are fired if they fail.
Politicans....i dunno about you, but how would you work knowing that ever 2-4 years your career could be over?
Lawyers are fired if they fail. They usually dont though.

Arianna Huffington!?! On TYT!!! How cool - yeah! I wanna go to dinner with her sometime.
I put my money in a neighborhood bank years ago - then it got bought up by Norwest, then Wells Fargo. Hmm, now I've got to move again...

audadvnc: a) That sounds terrible. I'd hate to have my bank bought up by a bigger bank.
That's one of the risks I'd worry about.
Are credit unions safe from this?
b) Yeah, me too! Arianna's...well...somewhat older than I am, but she's quite intelligent, and pretty, too!
