@ClassicalGuitar1111, hi Grant, cheers mate, thank you. Checked out your vids, wow, beautiful guitar playing. Hey folks if you like classical guitar check this guy out, fantastic. Best, Eric.
Ellems, hi Eliot and Ryan, thanks so much guys. I guess you realised it's only me using split screen huh? I was knocked out with your duo vid, rated it 5*'s and tried to leave a comment but YouTube said I had 'exceeded' my comment allowance, or words to that effect. I have been answering comments on my vids. Didn't know there was a limit to the amount of comments one can make. Anyway, great stuff guys, good luck, happy life, and keep up the good work, Eric.
I am really surprised that I found this song on your channel, I heard the version by Quincy Jones, which I really liked (of course, this version is excellent too), but UMG deleted it, even though they actually don't own that song... weird.
tauwilltriumph, hi Aleksander, thanks so much. Yes, it's very strange why some versions of songs get deleted and others remain. Weird, as you say. All the best, Eric.
solsleuteltje, hi Gerda, how are you? Hope you had a good Christmas and here's wishing you a fantastic 2009. Thanks so much for your comment, very kind as usual. I closed 2008 very quietly actually, went out with more of a whimper than a bang, lol. Take care, keep well, Eric.
So moving, Eric! I've only known this song by Sinatra as "A Day In The Life Of A Fool". It's always been one of my favorite recordings of his. One of my favorite songs. Your version here is so beautiful, so sad. Absolutely stunning job. 5 stars!!! :)
singingkid, hey Greg, how's it goin'? Thanks so much for kind posting, bless you. Hope we haven't seen the last of you on your own? One of the best singers on YouTube, take care chum, Eric.
I just can't seize to be amazed at how you actually manage this... I mean, your singing in two different tones, playing along with an ukulele and you time it all accordingly without cutting or... Wow. Just how long does it take you to arrange a song like this, or are you just extremely talented when it comes to music? :)
Hi Angens, thank you so much for your extremely kind and complimentary comment. The trick if you like is rather like when a magician tells you how a trick is done and you marvel at its simplicity. Basically, I film myself doing melody. Then record that and play it back to myself through an earpiece and just sing and play along with it. You'll notice I do a 'count in'. The tricky part is joining the two together. Take care mate, Eric.
Perhaps true about the magic trick part, but it still very nicely done :) I liked the clip where you unraveled some of your old memories and past performances, really neat song. Too bad I wasn't really born when the 70's was around ;)
I've listened again Eric and the Accordion is on the fire (a lovely blaze it makes) You dont publish a Ukulele tutor do you ?? if not its down to a tune a day part 1 book 1 In the mean time another on my favourites list . I'm sure you should be making £££££ with all this talent and praise on tinternet. Take care and regards Peter
brcp4321, hi Peter, thanks so much. Sorry to hear about the demise of your accordion. Perhaps you should compose a simple piece entitled 'Elegy to a burnt squeezebox'. As to learning the uke, easiest thing is to buy a little book, sold in most music shops for a £1 which has most of the basic chord shapes for ukulele in it. From there, match them to a simple song of say three chords, and hey presto, you're away. What care I for money? It's the taking part that counts. Yeah right. Best, Eric
Hi Eric. Thanks for resurrecting the memory that beautiful haunting melody which I seem to recall was sung by Jobim over the titles of that film Black Orpheus. A little bit of trivia for you..did you know that that song is Barack Obama's mothers favourite song. I must get hime to log on to hear your splendid version!
foxtrotoscar67, hi Jon and Pip, thanks so much. It's interesting this video-making lark, I learn something new everytime I do one. For instance, doubt if I'll use dark curtains again. Not until I get the lighting right anyway. Cheers, Eric.
Right that does it Eric I'm going out to buy a Uke and the old Accordion goes on the fire !! Lovely song well sung well played what more can i say !!! best regards Peter
brcp4321, hi Peter, lol, don't ditch the Accordion whatever you do. Do you know the first instrument I ever tried to learn as a youngster was the accordion. Didn't stick at it though, wish I had done. I think good musicians are born not made. The thing I like about the uke is that I may be in with a chance. Thanks so much, Eric.
