ANA offers a relatively stable job, in a country where stable jobs are almost nonexistent, to just about anyone who is willing to give a fraction of a shit about what they do--that's what they say on paper. The truth is you don't have to give a shit at all to join. And that(ANA truck with lights on during a clandestine nigh op.) is the product of this poor recruiting.

Colonel Robert L. Howard, the most decorated soldier since World War II. The only American service memeber to be recommended for the Medal of Honor 3 times and within a 13 month time span. He received 8 purple hearts and many other awards. If you have never heard of this man you should look him up, another one of Americas great heroes. Of course, this man was Special Forces...no SEAL even comes close.

@fireball676 They've been around since Vietnam just like Army SF. But Army Special Forces happens to be the most highly decorated Special Operations unit in the U.S. With and without the "black ops". In my opinion they are the best because they can do the most and have accomplished the most. The training is longer and better. They have better recruits that are more mature and smarter. Not taking away from SEALs, they are an awesome for but in my opinion Army SF is better...just an opinion.
@redthreemike They cant swim......all i have to say is SEa Air Land.....no, most of the seals were never eligible for medals....actually during vietnam, none of them were...they all operated in Cambodia. And remember, its not medals...they dont matter. And the green beretes were started in WW2...Green Beret is a nickname. The only thing in the army created in Vietnam was the 75th ranger regiment. The training in the SEALs is second to none...the green berets arent the same..not the same SOP

The three lightning bolts on the Special Forces unit patch signifies sea, air and land. SEALs did not all operate in Cambodia. Some did under MACV/SOG but that was mostly ran by the CIA and Army Special Forces. Green Berets were not started in WWII...but they can trace their history to that era. SF training is intense, long, realistic and geared for what is happening now.

Some SEALs served in Cambodia, not "ALL" like you previously stated. So what competition is this and what does it have to do with anything? The Army has the best Special Operations units by far. Delta, Army SF, 75th Ranger Regiment, 160th SOAR, PSYOPS/Civil Affairs. I imagine they're a bit busy at the moment.
@redthreemike i was speaking about swimming....the only group in the army in common with the seals is Delta...the green berets opperate the same way marine force recon does....not impressive to me...they far outnumber anybody in the sf commmunity...and as far as the 75th...i have good friend that served with them..and he worked with seals on a dialy basis...and he would admit to you that they are in a league of their own..it is what it is....the training is more effective.

They review you on the second to last day and they tell you if you made it or not...
@redthreemike Yea the purpose delta had in the beginning of the war was to go in and organize a militia of troops from the war lord tribes there that were in a power struggle with the taliban....that was how most of the combat was done...the seals were in the process of killing high value targets....they normally dont take them alive whereas the Delta guys try to flush them and capture.

ANA offers a relatively stable job, in a country where stable jobs are almost nonexistent, to just about anyone who is willing to give a fraction of a shit about what they do--that's what they say on paper. The truth is you don't have to give a shit at all to join. And that(ANA truck with lights on during a clandestine nigh op.) is the product of this poor recruiting.

Colonel Robert L. Howard, the most decorated soldier since World War II. The only American service memeber to be recommended for the Medal of Honor 3 times and within a 13 month time span. He received 8 purple hearts and many other awards. If you have never heard of this man you should look him up, another one of Americas great heroes. Of course, this man was Special Forces...no SEAL even comes close.

@fireball676 They've been around since Vietnam just like Army SF. But Army Special Forces happens to be the most highly decorated Special Operations unit in the U.S. With and without the "black ops". In my opinion they are the best because they can do the most and have accomplished the most. The training is longer and better. They have better recruits that are more mature and smarter. Not taking away from SEALs, they are an awesome for but in my opinion Army SF is better...just an opinion.

@redthreemike They cant swim......all i have to say is SEa Air Land.....no, most of the seals were never eligible for medals....actually during vietnam, none of them were...they all operated in Cambodia. And remember, its not medals...they dont matter. And the green beretes were started in WW2...Green Beret is a nickname. The only thing in the army created in Vietnam was the 75th ranger regiment. The training in the SEALs is second to none...the green berets arent the same..not the same SOP

@fireball676 Special Forces can't swim...you're clearly smoking crack. All U.S. Special Operations units can swim. The three lightning bolts on the Special Forces unit patch signifies sea, air and land. SEALs did not all operate in Cambodia. Some did under MACV/SOG but that was mostly ran by the CIA and Army Special Forces. Green Berets were not started in WWII...but they can trace their history to that era. SF training is intense, long, realistic and geared for what is happening now.

Some SEALs served in Cambodia, not "ALL" like you previously stated. So what competition is this and what does it have to do with anything? The Army has the best Special Operations units by far. Delta, Army SF, 75th Ranger Regiment, 160th SOAR, PSYOPS/Civil Affairs. I imagine they're a bit busy at the moment.

@redthreemike i was speaking about swimming....the only group in the army in common with the seals is Delta...the green berets opperate the same way marine force recon does....not impressive to me...they far outnumber anybody in the sf commmunity...and as far as the 75th...i have good friend that served with them..and he worked with seals on a dialy basis...and he would admit to you that they are in a league of their own..it is what it is....the training is more effective.

Read "Not A Good Day To Die", those Delta boys put the Devgru guys to shame. Even talks about how immature the SEALs were and how they couldn't even plan a propper mission without the help of the Rangers...not making this up, it's in the book. It's about Operation Anaconda...pretty good read actually.

LOL...so how can you gauge how well a unit is based on 4 guys? First in Afghanistan, toppled the taliban with a handful of SF. That says more than a competition. 160th does work with SEALs and even though PSYOPS is not "Spec Ops" like we normally think of, they still are part of Special Operations.

Their training is the best for what they do. Primarily Delta guys come from SF and Rangers. And who the hell said you had to wait two years to get a review board to approve you....WOW...you are way off on that. They review you on the second to last day and they tell you if you made it or not...

@redthreemike Yea the purpose delta had in the beginning of the war was to go in and organize a militia of troops from the war lord tribes there that were in a power struggle with the taliban....that was how most of the combat was done...the seals were in the process of killing high value targets....they normally dont take them alive whereas the Delta guys try to flush them and capture.

Possibly (and likely) they were coordinating with the taliban that blew up the ied by revealing the American's position. Seems like too much of a coincidence to me that they would do that minutes before an IED hit the vehicle. I wish I could personally kill every one of those terrorists, no respect for human life, brainwashed by the extremists of their religion, every one of them deserves a slow, painful death.

U could very well be right about that. I know we had a HUGE problem w/ those ANA fuckers before I got there. Just a few too many coincidences I guess. They were never told about any patrols or missions until just before we were leaving. I wish we didnt have to deal with them, they r just slowing things down and making our job harder. But if were ever gonna leave someone has to take over that shit hole I guess.

the locals generally knows where the IED's are since it takes a while to dig a big ole' hole and set everything up.
If the people want Americans in their country. they'd vote by telling the Yanks where the IED's are. If the people don't want the Americans in their country, they'd vote by keeping silence...
