It's true, unfortunately many Muslims do lack respect for other cultures, but that hasn't got anything to do with Islam. In true Islam, you have to respect each religion, each culture, each race. Many hadith are often wrong quoted and many things of hadith are not even in Quran. The Quran is more important than hadith. I like Ali and I applaud her too, but I do wish she would try to see the difference between real Islam and the problems caused by misinterpretation of Quranic verses.

I am a staunch American progressive & liberal who believes in the principles of multiculturalism, but I applaud Ali. Respect for other cultures must go 2 ways for them to co-exist peacefully. Many hadith are often wrong quoted and many things of hadith are not even in Quran. The Quran is more important than hadith. I like Ali and I applaud her too, but I do wish she would try to see the difference between real Islam and the problems caused by misinterpretation of Quranic verses.

You're right, Islam is in truth a religion of peace. But just like you have negative people in other religions and cultures, you also unfortunately find them amongst Muslims. I as a Muslim, like Ayaan Hirsi Ali, though I don't agree with all her ideas and many things she says about Islam, are untrue. well, he could've been talking about "them" storing loads of old greek and hebrew texts and stuff that otherwise would've been lost to us... some astronomy and mathematics too of course. but the "base of western civilisation" (what ever that should be), clearly lies in the greek and the judaeo-christian lineage... no muzzies meddling with that :)

Even in the US a woman can get her head cut off by her husband for not obeying him. He needs to be punished with the death penalty to show women in the US will not be killed in such a insane manor without sever consequences. Islam has no place in a society where both sexes are EQUAL.
