I love how ignorant ppl here are when it comes to Contra. First off, Contra's original storyline was never about a modern day Rambo-inspired plot.  Instead, it was about two military guys in futuristic earth fending off an alien invasion.

@123sny The thing is that this game isn't based on Contra for the NES, but Contra for the Genesis, which has an anime art direction. Whether or not you think this isn't Contra for having an anime, it is STILL a Contra game. Art direction doesn't make a Contra game, but elements of gameplay does.

For anyone complaining about this being Anime, this is pretty easy to explain: Arcade-styled games don't have a massive audience in Western countries any more, and Anime style is still the in-thing for arcade games in Japan.

They're not going cater to the Western Call of Duty audience, that would be pretty much pointless. If you're still into true hardcore Arcade games, this is something you'll have to get used to. I'm not thrilled about shooting giant robot schoolgirls in DoDonPachi either.

i remember when this was leaked like 2 weeks before release, i knew it was Daisuke's work immediately, i got ten times more hype for this game, glad i was not dissapointed. This game is a crazy amount of fun. Me and my friend finally finished our no continue one health bar run the other day, we we're proud of this accomplishment. then we decided to go back and tackle old contras......still gettingf our asses kicked but having a goood time :)

@DrMuganda I am a veteran of the Contra games who has completed the arcade, NES and MSX2 versions of the first Contra and the NES version of Super Contra/Super C several times without using continues. I have also played several other Contra titles and I usually don't use any continues even after getting the game over. With that said, I don't mind the style of Hard Corps: Uprising. Are you sure that your criticism isn't a bit... superficial? Have you actually played the game?

Hmmmm..I play that game alot, but it feels like it does not belong anywhere before Contra Hard corpse. Somehow the "OMFG IS THAT SICK" effect is missing (except for the bosses in stage 7 and the final in 8) But when i play through the old Hard corpse there's a whole other athmosphere in the game more about the sickness of the bosses like the alien queen or that Uber Bahamut which final form is floating heads around a heart.That was awesome!! It's not bad, it's just not contra like i remember it!

Konami has said that they're treating this game as a seperate franchise(silly, I know), so they will most likely release expansions/more games to cover more of the story. Hence why not even the creators confirmed this Bahamut to be the same from the original Hard Corps.
