RE4 is not scary at all. Maybe in the beginning of the game, but after few cutscenes, you get used to the villagers. Resident Evil Remake IMO is the scariest of them all

I agree, but, I don´t know, R4 has an incredible art direction, and the game was incredibly long, therefore is more backgrounds and details to enjoy but for an "eye candy" game I think that Panzer Dragoon orta and ninja gaiden are superior, only on the graphics!, again, R4 was done with much more love than those two.
If your still stuck on the part on 3:09 to 3:13 then there is a really easy way to beat them. All you have to use is one incesarindy grenade. Sorry I spelled it wrong but those fire grenades work like a charm

It was scary in the village the first time you played right? I found it pretty tense although that was probably because I was absolutely terrible at it
But I agree, most of it wasn't at all scary, just damn well designed. That however didn't stop some of my snobbish friends from declaring by around summer 2005 that in fact it was not as good as our beloved Metroid Prime 2 Echoes (& we thought Prime 1 was worse :O) and that RE4 was OVERRATED!
It was so good that it should've saved the Gamecube.

@tommonkey91 Just like in amnesia, you just couldn't suspend your disbelief long enough. I had thrills, chills and spills all throughout the game. Chainsaw wielding crazy women, paper white cultists, parasites possessing armors and biting your head off, dogs, novistadors, garradors, the verdugo etc. Shinji Mikami is a legend

wow, these graphics are pretty cool for the gamecube!! I gotta get ths! I only ever play gamecube on the DVD player in my dad's truck, but this might make me want to play it more. can't believe i haven't played resident evil 4 yet...

RE4 is not scary at all. Maybe in the beginning of the game, but after few cutscenes, you get used to the villagers. Resident Evil Remake IMO is the scariest of them all

The best game to have graced the GC ,Wii, and the PS2. Gameplay, graphics, storyline, presentation, just name it. This game has it all.

RE1 is the most important. but i still hate it (aswell as 2 and 3) because you cant aim properly and fixed cameras in each room sucks. RE4 blew me away and i just loved it. RE5 was ok but i would have liked at least some element of horror in it. and it was too short. never the less, RE5 is a good action game and RE4 is awesome

Ok, ok!, sorry!, but still, hahaha, "I" think the change of direction was the right thing to do, and Mikami has quite a "pair" to do what he did! and no matter what, it is undeniable that R.E.4 is one of the greatest games on gaming history (possibly more important than R.E 1) whether it follows your R.E "rule" or not.

I wouldn't say it's one of the greatest games ever, it's just a really good game. And it's nowhere near as important to RE as 1 was.
And personally I'm glad Shinji's gone after how 4 turned out.

This is fun talk, I like it!... Of course is not more important than R.E 1 to "R.E universe", but I was talking about gaming history, R.E 1 was an improved version of Alone in the Dark and Sweet home, R.E 4 went to a new and fresh direction, in a time where videogames were much more popular, and on a time where producers and artists had much more to lose. so, for that, hats off to Mikami, he created one of the best franchises ever and then had to save it by re inventing it.

i just got this and splinter cell double agent off ebay for the gamecube and let me tell you this games grafics are just as good as 360 grafics i aint kidding the detail that went into this game is something else

obviously the graphics arent as good as what the 360 is capable of.
But RE4 on the GameCube was easily the most visually impressive game in the PS2, GC and Xbox era.

I agree, but, I don´t know, R4 has an incredible art direction, and the game was incredibly long, therefore is more backgrounds and details to enjoy but for an "eye candy" game I think that Panzer Dragoon orta and ninja gaiden are superior, only on the graphics!, again, R4 was done with much more love than those two.

If your still stuck on the part on 3:09 to 3:13 then there is a really easy way to beat them. All you have to use is one incesarindy grenade. Sorry I spelled it wrong but those fire grenades work like a charm

....if something's not scary, it is not the best at being a horror. RE4 is the worst main game at being a Resident Evil game, no matter how good of a game it is, and I'd never call it the best game ever.

Maybe is not scary as the others but it has some sort of "constant tension" that wasn´t in the others. and the gameplay was something completely new, not only for the franchise... My favorite though is still Resident evil 1 but as a game, R4 radically re defined the genre, violently!!!. maybe another R.E Zero would have been the end of the franchise!

RE was doing just fine in my eyes without changing. Yes changing how it did was a bad thing. It completely changed the genre that it was. As of RE4 it was no longer survival horror and RE4 had arguably the worst script and least relevance out of all of the main games.
And personally, 5 even is more of an Re game than 4 to me.

Ok, I respect that, maybe the story on 5 was better, but atmosphere!?, characters!?, bosses!?, enemies!? are you sure you played R4 from beggining to end!? And 5 have the exact R4 motor (with minor improvements) so how can it be that R5 is more R.E than 4, I do hated "the zombie evolution" on R4 but this game is still a masterpiece!. Sorry mate, but I can´t believe what you are saying

5 had the exact same atmosphere as 4: none.
And yes, HELL yes, the characters were better. With almost everything Leon said in 4 and how he acted in general I just wanted to stop playing. 5's characters may be repetative, but at least they act more serious and professional. And yes, the enemies were more RE-like to me in RE5.
I don't have a problem with there not being zombies in an RE game, and I never claimed RE4 was bad. It's amazing video game, but it sucks at being a RESIDENT EVIL game.

Well, ok, I´m done, I can´t make you like R4, but the acting discussion is pointless, cause I could say that Resident evil 1 is bad because it had terrible voice acting, if that were a valid argument R4 would be more R.E than R.E.5!.
But, nevermind, it just puzzles me how a guy who loves R.E can´t love R.4, that, is just beyond me...

u will be scared shitless, all u have to do is be playing in a pitch black room, turn the volume up, and make the brightness setting really low. then you'll hear the regenerador's breathing right around a corner.

got that right...i hate it but laugh when the enemy pops up behind you...especialy when its the dogs and they come out of nowhere it scares the shit out of me...at first i didnt feel like playing resident 4 because i played resident 3 and it wasnt particularly great but i when i went to colombia i saw it was really cheap and i bought it and gave it a try...and im fucking happy i did too
