Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
Every so once and a while a song comes along that demands respect. This is one of those songs. Why? Because it's that g perfect. It has all the elements. And it came out at the right time.
@friscolane If you are one of the 23, then why would you ask? A better question would be why do you come back here if you're one of the 23? Go listen to Justin Bieber.
@Lordscotia Eric Carmen looks like a wimp??? Why? Because he isn't covered with tattoos and his pants aren't 3 sizes too big? Actually in the older photos he's dressed like a gentleman from the early 1800's.
This song is sort of reminiscent of the 50s rock like the stuff in "Grease". Was this band going for a 50s style mixed with 70s sound? The lead riff sounds like classic rock or metal, but the verse and chorus sounds 50s.
I was a kid when this first came out, but I was wise enough to know what they were talking about. I never could figure how it made it past the censors. There is one song bolder than this called " My Girl Bill " that also came out in the 70's. I think that title speaks for itself.
@fran9860 - Right under the video in the description, it says "show more". When you click it, it SHOWS MORE...like the lyrics.
You probably should consider changing your screen name from fran9860 to "fuckstick9860". That way, everyone on youtube will know what a fuckstick you are!
lol In '72 I was 8 and I had NO idea .. but it was a song my 17 yr old sister would turn up on the radio and dance too so, of course, I liked it too. Lyrics are pretty lame but the song brings back good memories.
I first heard this when I was like 8, I'm 13 now and in love with this song, my dad plays this song in his band, I've been searching for it for years, this song is definatley something I'll share with my kids and their kids, we'll have 822 generations of my family listening to this song! Hehe.(:
I use to sing this song all the time when I heard it as a kid. One day I heard as an adult and realized what they were singing about. I remember asking my parents for this album in 5th grade I can only imagine what they thought!!!
Yeah, Wings too. I couldn't put my finger on it before the first post - bad memory. The girlfriend and me on the bed in her room making out and listening to them for hours. She didn't listen to any of the lyrics, darn!
So many influences apparent in this song. Beachboys, Beatles, Badfinger. Loved them all and this group/song back then, still sounds good to me. Oh, it was also what we guys always wanted to hear........
This song took 20 hours in the studio. The compressor is awesome. Some say you shouldn't hear the compressor but this is a great example of it (1:50). Great mix! (of course Eric is great)
Like Soyounoat, I loved this song the first time in came out of my 1.5 inch speaker booming out AM radio.
Like magtownrep, I thought Eric was singing "please go away" and as such it KINDA made since, but hearing the actual title made it a MUCH different song. There was never any confusion about what Go All The Way meant.
And that is probably the best "I know this song" intro other than the unmistakable first seven notes of "Layla".
This was my favorite song the day it first played on my radio, and remained so for at least a year or two. I was 11, 12, 13 years old when it was in heavy airplay rotation, and the meaning of the words began to make sense. But oh man, by FAR, it was the opening POWER CHORDS of that guitar that lit my world.
@vcoonrod - amen, brother. Rock & Roll is supposed to be about sex and cars and beer; and yeah, that opening kicks ass... clean and pure and simple rock guitar intro.
I was entirely convinced that this was a Paul McCartney song, I mean the way he sings the part around 1:55 sounds just like Sir Paul. Alas my musical deciphering skills aren't as keen as I thought they were. This song was driving me crazy for weeks because the radio stations never say who the songs are by. Google was no help being that I also thought the lyrics went "please go away." I had to play the opening guitar part for my mom to find this one. Great song.
@pheet i got drafted, then enlisted for the training of my choice. Best life decision I ever made. I spent 12 years in the Army, got out for a higher paid civilian position and I am fully I retired at age 46. I own my house free and clear, no car payments and full medical. I recall listening to this song while sitting in the barracks day room.
Raspberries, Circus, Pretenders, Nine Inch Nails, Michael Stanley Band, James Gang, Derringer, Devo, The Ramones....and the list goes on. Sooo many great bands in the 70s and 80s out of Cleveland/Akron. Raspberries....bring back so many memories.
I remember having a crush on a girl in the 4th grade in California. This song would be playing and I 'd get all gooey inside thinking about her after hearing it.
Cindy Williams, if you are out there, this one is for you.
Power pop has perhaps most bittersweet/starcrossed legacy of any rock genre. Badfinger (tragedy), Big Star (mismangement and more), the Romantics (lawsuits, uneven output), The Raspberries (overlooked treasure remembered only as 1-hit wonder and Eric's first band), The Knack (bigger than deserved to be but unjustly vilified after initial success), Cheap Trick (peaked too soon, should have had much bettter career), The Cars (2 great albums at start but quick decline into a bland singles band).
This band was showcased on the KID's show, "GO !" with Bob McAllister back in 70-something. I remember hearing it as a 10 year old and wondering, "what are they talking about, anyways?" Well, by 13, I had figured it out, and the song pretty much summed up the rest of my teen years...thanks alot, Raspberries *;) UG!
Thanks for this tune! Takes me back to 1972. I'm getting out my lava lamp. Great energy! We'd gone from the Stones on Ed Sullivan singing "Let’s spend some time together" to "Go All the Way". LOL! The Beatles went from "I Want to Hold Your Hand" to "I'd Love to Turn You On". Those were the days of the big break on through in sexual lyrics on the radio! All the rules were being joyfully broken by '72!
Lets face it: most of today's music sucks I can't and wont listen to it... I HATE rap and what they call "R&B" sure as hell isnt The sixties and seventies and a little bit of the eighties were the shit..( and I still think "No Matter What" by Badfinger is the best pop song ever written)
it's great how you have that crappy newer song after this one - just another testament to the fact that music in the digital age is not what it used to be - at all - this is one of the best pop songs of the old days and singer eric carmen went on to have a real strong solo career - thnx 565202 - no such things as mistakes
@DoGeeseSeeGod24 The Beach Noise? What segment? It sounds more like Queen to me and I was in senior high school when this was released. You must be referring to the harmonies?
Love this song and the words it has to say and that it is so nice. Love the feel and groovy sound of the 60's era. Thanks for this great post here on Youtube.
Yez, Eric =was= pop-oriented, but the Einner (spelling?) brothers management was really the dominant influence on song selection for "maximum radio hit potential." These guys were really =rockers= at heart, and you can hear it back of the teeny bop gloss.
What a great cruisin song! I remember doing 85 in my 92 Jeep Cherokee w/ this song cranking on the way to my fishing trips! Just a great timeless party/cruising song!
@catgirl6717 I didn't even know the meaning of this song until I was 14 or 15. I first heard it at 13 and thought it said "please go away". My gym teacher in 7th grade played it on a loudspeaker after most of the students had left. Thankfully I have an early birthday for my grade, because this is a PG-13 song. LOL
@catgirl6717 Oh, it was girl. Very naughty! That and the classic "Me and Mrs. Jones" inspired this young teenager in the '70s to pop a lot of cherries (and they were all delicious).
@catgirl6717 lol. Did you know at iTunes the Raspberries album has a explicit lyrics warning? Too crazy. I remember listening t them when I was 10 on the radio...
are all the commentors drunk?????. For God's sake, get your facts straight before you comment. It is better to be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt!!!
There was this girl friend of a friend...her favorite song? You got it! Did she? No But that was alright because she was beautiful and such a nice girl. Hey! Cindy! Hope you are doing good!
Didn't Paul McCartney write this tune? I think he produced these guys way back when besides setting them up with this tune. Sure has that touch major to minor chord thing going on.
You're confusing the Raspberries with Badfinger. McCartney wrote "Come and Get It" for those guys and signed them to The Beatles' Apple label. The bands do have similar sounds, though. Easy enough mistake to make.
DDG, You're right! I forgot about Badfinger. Thanks for reminding me. Those chord progressions are so cool. Don't hear anyone using those much anymore. I think they still sound great and highlight a great melody. I guess I'm just old! LOL!!
i was 13...nam scared the heck out of me...cuz my dad told me that when you are in the service, there are no doors on the toilets...i was more scared of taking a shit in front of guys then getting shot
Damn! What a great way to reawaken half recalled memories of being young and having my ear glued to an AM radio speaker! You're a deity for posting. Thanks!
what agreat song. I'm from greater Cleveland and we had a TON of great bands/artists from this area. the Raspberries were formed from part of
the Choir, (It's Cold Outside) a reference to our weather? lol. James Gang spawned Joe Walsh, (solo and in the Eagles), Rick Derringer is from this area and many outhers. What a great sound and song, thx 4 posting!!

Sounds very Beach Boys influenced.
DoGeeseSeeGod24 1 year ago
@DoGeeseSeeGod24 The Beach Noise? What segment? It sounds more like Queen to me and I was in senior high school when this was released. You must be referring to the harmonies?
kurtizzyflush 1 year ago
@kurtizzyflush Just the basic structure of the song. I don't know how you're hearing Queen; this sounds like something out of the 50s/early 60s.
DoGeeseSeeGod24 1 year ago
Love this song and the words it has to say and that it is so nice. Love the feel and groovy sound of the 60's era. Thanks for this great post here on Youtube.

Great song, whats with the Hanson coming on immediately after? that needs to change... bad form.
Clemenza800 1 year ago
thanks for posting the lyrics. i had thought they were saying "please go away" which contradicted "just hold me close."

wow thanks for absolutely ruining this song with the idiotic credits. T&T productions? wtf you think you're some kind of studio now?
kauldplai7 1 year ago
Yez, Eric =was= pop-oriented, but the Einner (spelling?) brothers management was really the dominant influence on song selection for "maximum radio hit potential." These guys were really =rockers= at heart, and you can hear it back of the teeny bop gloss.

What a great cruisin song! I remember doing 85 in my 92 Jeep Cherokee w/ this song cranking on the way to my fishing trips! Just a great timeless party/cruising song!

Raspberries: Eric Carmen, seventies.., nine years old and thot this song was "naughty" when I heard it on my mom's 8track player (but i LOVED it!);)
catgirl6717 2 years ago 24
@catgirl6717 I didn't even know the meaning of this song until I was 14 or 15. I first heard it at 13 and thought it said "please go away". My gym teacher in 7th grade played it on a loudspeaker after most of the students had left. Thankfully I have an early birthday for my grade, because this is a PG-13 song. LOL
whattheheck1000 1 year ago
@whattheheck1000 That's hilarious!! Can u imagine that happening today? (NOT!)
catgirl6717 1 year ago
@catgirl6717 It was surprisingly in 2006, and nothing happened to the gym teacher.

@catgirl6717 Oh, it was girl. Very naughty! That and the classic "Me and Mrs. Jones" inspired this young teenager in the '70s to pop a lot of cherries (and they were all delicious).

Dude, according to your profile, you're 46 .wouldn't that have made you about 14 in 1980?

no, eric carmen of the raspberries wrote it.
ekim007bs 2 years ago 3
Didn't Paul McCartney write this tune? I think he produced these guys way back when besides setting them up with this tune. Sure has that touch major to minor chord thing going on.
intune1234 2 years ago
You're confusing the Raspberries with Badfinger. McCartney wrote "Come and Get It" for those guys and signed them to The Beatles' Apple label. The bands do have similar sounds, though. Easy enough mistake to make.
TheDDG 2 years ago 8
DDG, You're right! I forgot about Badfinger. Thanks for reminding me. Those chord progressions are so cool. Don't hear anyone using those much anymore. I think they still sound great and highlight a great melody. I guess I'm just old! LOL!!
intune1234 2 years ago 2
you might be thinking of Badfinger, McCartney and Harrison were associated with them.

what agreat song.
