The shark didnt actually swallow him whole it swallowed him up to his chest with one arm free. He was able to poke the shark in the eye which caused the shark to let go briefly before biting back down on his dive mask squashing it against his face which broke his nose. He then poked it in the eye again and the shark let him go. He kept his abalone bag between himself and the shark as he rose to the surface. This story is true but they didnt get all the facts correct
