  • whats wrong with ringo

  • @FrightWolf dude WTF is your problem? It is allowed to miss them, maybe you just have no emotional bone in your body.

  • GEORGE

  • Damn, I get tears in my eyes every time I see George and John.

  • @atbglenn What on earth is this "tears" thing

and YouTube videos? Is this suppose to indicate

you're sincere? Or passionate? Or a woman?

I mean, this is a room full of strangers. Why tell

us about your body fluid? Can you keep it to yourself,

    please?

  • Those were the good old days when I was still a sperm and shaking that tale of mine, Gosh what memories (sigh)

  • Just bought a Danelectro 12-string electric. This is one of the songs I'll be working on. Love that Rickenbacker jangle.

  • It was sabatoge . They were messing up there microphones . And George was just tired of it clearly .

  • After the show, the wall outside George's room was carved over by dozens of numbers.

  • @nafaidni - That's not true. Is it. You big fibber. You liar!

  • the only part that he slurs is "if I needed someone", the title of the song (which he always had trouble coming up with), ironically.

  • Omg I love George so much. <(^o^<) He's mine <3

  • You know, maybe he's tired... who knows?

  • @strawberryfieldszoe Yeah, I think it was a few things: this is 1966, so all of them (but esp. George) were really f*king sick of touring. That said, assuming this is from the first Budokan show (they played an earlier set and a later set), the band was pretty upset by the low quality of their show (it was the first in a very long time that they could actually hear, since the crowd was relatively quiet), so they tightened things up for the later set.

  • @1982pencil Yeah, is this Japan? I forget, but when they were in Japan they didn't go meet some official and they couldn't get into the hotel and they were locked in their car. It was like ten minutes or something till everything got cleared and they left shortly after that.

  • I agree with jdlewil60 above..BEST FKN BAND E V E R..!!!!!!!!!!

  • George must be sick or just really drunk haha

  • George seems to be having a bit of trouble with all the flats in this live version but the Japanese girls still love him regardless. Just listen to that scream when he waves to them during the song.

  • @Chibihalo2 Maybe he's high? Cause your right, I can hear it so clearly. It's a little funny, only a little.

  • Just watching them all playing their guitars and singing...This would be heaven to witness in person!

  • muy bueno

  • If they coulda stayed together like the Stones....Could you imagine seeing the Beatles in 2007?!

  • @gerns99

no...because it would just be Paul and Ringo...

  • :)

  • 2:01

    Hi Girls :D

  • Happy Birthday George

    Hare Krishna

  • GOOD VIDEO!

  • Great band. Off topic: Osamu Tezuka would've been 40 years old during this time.

  • GEORGE, im right here waiting for you to call ;)

  • If George blew a kiss those girls would be on the floor down and out.

  • That Great 1966 Tour, They Toured In 5 Countries That Year. Great Britain, Germany, Japan, The Philippines And The United States of America. Playing Before Crowds Who Could Not Longer Hear Them.

  • Those who have Beatles bootlegs will hear George's constant fumbling - he needed a lot more time in the studio to match Lennon and Macca. Macc was was without doubt the most experimental and competent musician.

  • @AdemK47

check out this one then: The Beatles at Apple Studios, January 1969

and it's not because i disagree with what you've said about Macca, because it's true in a way. I just have to defend George. And after they broke up, he became more successful than the mates, clearly.

  • @AdemK47 Yes, his solo album was great. I think some of his shortcomings were the result of the other two songwriters. I too would defend any Beatle to the death. In George's case, I listen to Hey Bulldog and see the magic there.

  • somes songs just dont play well live, this is one.

  • @SUNRISERICH George had a cold when he did this performance, hence his weak voice.

  • You can say whatever you want about my favorite band, but there's one thing you can't deny... GEORGE WAS HOT.

  • Poor George- he was just as talented as John and Paul at songwriting and singing but never got the chance to shine with John and Paul dominating the scene

  • @QueenBeatlesWings estas hasta las huevas, george paraba metiendo rata a las chicas mas ricas de USA y de GB...la pasaba de lo lindo

  • @QueenBeatlesWings George was a very talented musician and songwriter but not in Lennon and McCartney's league as a songwriter and way short of Paul as a musician.

  • @jim25shwp

well, George was as perfect on his guitar as Paul was on his bass.

from what Jim Keltner told he was also at least as good as Paul on the drums, he could play some bass (see she said she said), he was a great overall musician, but unlike paul he never had the urge to record a full album of his own.

  • @OropherThranduil Paul played bass on She Said she said, but that's all, he didn't do any vocals but definately played bass on it.

  • @jim25shwp

    don't try to correct me.

McCartney does not appear on the track: the bass is played by Harrison. McCartney said, "I'm not sure but I think it was one of the only Beatle records I never played on. I think we had a barney or something and I said, 'Oh, fuck you!', and they said, 'Well, we'll do it.'"

from Miles, Barry (1997). Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now

  • @OropherThranduil don't be wrong and I wont correct you. from Revolution in the Head (page 187) : With help from Harrison on vocal harmonies and lead guitar, Lennon pulls off a last minute coup with this track evening up the score in his ongoing competition with McCartney (who oddly contributes only bass guitar here).

They did the track, had an argument, McCartney left and Lennon and Harrison did the overdubs.

  • @jim25shwp

i think paul must know it the best wether it is his bassplaying or not.

well, the book i quote from is paul mccartneys personal reccolection of the events.

i think he knows it quite better than ian mcdonald, and every site by now has george as playing the bass guitar, wikipedia, beatles bible, and the book i quote from is 3 years newer.

if paul says that's not his playing it's simply not his playing.

ian might have heard all their sessions, but paul was there doing them.

  • @OropherThranduil in your quote he says "i'm not sure".

  • @jim25shwp

well, i except for you i never read or heard anyone claiming paul played that bassline.

but well, you think paul played it just like i think it's george#s solo on i want you (she's so heavy).

  • @OropherThranduil

The actual studio log shows the rhythm track for this song being recorded by all 4 Beatles in 1 take on 16 Oct. '65.

The only overdubs taking place the next day consisiting of lead (George)and backing vocals(J&P) with Ringo adding tamborine.

Paul must be mistaken. But he didn't play bass on Hey Jude (George), Julia (nobody), and Let It Be (John).

  • @Ottoboy111

Paul never said he played on julia, john is on let it be, but on the studio version of hey jude paul played bass.

  • They don't sound too bad.

  • Wow, was George stoned singing this or what. Did you notice how he waved at the crowd looking for some glory, which he got and then he glanced over to the gods John and Paul for approval. There will never be any musical artist with the greatness of the Beatles. Period.

  • George was so smart to have followed Carl Perkins' licks!

  • I don't understand their perfection.

  • I love the Beatles but oh gosh, this is awful! George's singing....

  • George is not "sluring" his speach per se. He actually sounds tired. Also, I think he has a lisp so being tired and a lisp could sound like he's sluring. Also, he makes a humdinger of an error and laughs at it and they're playing a little out of tune.

  • @GHR1227 I think he probably wasn't able to hear himself, and he couldn't really tell if he was on key. And yes I think being tired was part of it. A third reason might be that playing the guitar was distracting. This was one of the very first Harrison-written songs the Beatles ever put out, and so George wasn't as practised at being the lead singer. He got better as time went on, I think.

  • @GHR1227 he is tired- this was when the Beatles played a show everyday no breaks no time alone only travel and hotel rooms- that plus the annoying crowds began to wear the Beatles out hence they stopped touring

  • the person who said they disliked this is so dumb. this is awesome!

  • NO GEORGE IS NOT SLURRING HIS WORDS!

  • I love the Beatles but as George put it they had a humble approach. The WHO apparently couldn't believe the kit they used at a 65 concert and when the Who went on the had twice the amount of kit by mid 65 the technology was in avaliable for the bigger stadiums but it was all dependant on the sound co and the promoters used. The group should have had their own sound engineers... afterall this is The Beatles! LOL :)

  • tooo much in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the best Beatles-songs. But, it is amazing...If I Needed Someone was the only George Harrison composition ever performed live by the Beatles on stage.

Otherwise, Harrison only sang covers during any of the Beatles tours.

The song was performed here in the Beatles Tokyo concerts in July 1966.

  • Agreed! :)

  • I tried to write songs in the style of the Beatles, but it was impossible!

  • super vid, thanx 4 uploading!

  • george isn't slurring his words!

  • @zzaldoushuxleyzz He certainly is.

  • george isn't slurring his words!

  • george isn't slurring his words!

  • george isn't slurring his words!

  • George is so high here!!! It ain't cold medicine making him slur his words, that's for damn sure!

  • Sounds great! Too bad George had such a bad cold.

  • George is the best ..... I love him <33 ......

  • That legend has two legends singing backing voals for him. What a band.

  • They fuckin rock!!!

  • I love watching George sing live!

  • Best fukin band ever!

  • @jdlewis60 Best MOTHER fuckin band ever!!! = D

  • @jdlewis60 AMEN TO THAT!!!!!

  • @jdlewis60 what is your favorite band

  • George is awesome live! GO GEORGE!

  • @TheSaddestThought

Indeed..And he is a very unsderated guitar player....I think he was better then Hendrix Riche Blackmore and all of them

  • OMG. Never saw this. Thanks.

  • poor beatles bless them, at one american gig the promoter couldnt be botherd to fork out $400 for a cover so they got absolutely soaked when it rained, all the gear and everything, there wer sparks flying between the kit and them, everytime they would go to sing at the mic they would get shocked by it and sparks flying bettween them and the mic, what killed their live stuff was that the prep behind it was so amatuer, i mean these guys wer making millions, $400 stage cover wud have been nothing.

  • "what killed their live stuff was that the prep behind it was so amatuer".

No. What killed their live stuff was screaming women to the point they could no longer hear their music, much less anyone else. They saw no point in performing live after this realization.

  • @hoppuss44 I think that was the straw that broke the camels back Paul was physically sick when they had to play that gig I think with the safety aspect. If they got electrocuted a guy had a towel wrapped around the main cable and he was told to pull it. Unreal or what

  • A song for my dearest friend!:)

  • You're the best :)

  • The power of a slight wave induces an increase in heart rate and near bodily shock. Go George!

  • Both of these Tokyo performances kind of took the Beatles by surprise in the fact that the audience tend to be more restrained in screaming . They could Actually hear themselves play on stage .Not to mention that they were tired and would quit touring about one month after these concerts .hence the seemingly lackluster performances. They still Rock !!

  • Also, they didn't rehearse for the 1966 tour, so their only preparation for these concerts were the Germany shows.

  • Beatles class moment 1:35

  • si necesito a alguien...... gran guitarra de george.... paul y john coros .... envidio mucho que hayan gozado a los beatles, lastima que nunca vinieron a sudamerica.

  • 1:17 lol

  • One of my favorite Beatles songs. This performance is pretty awful, though, obviously due to the fact that nobody could ever hear them play in concerts because of all the screaming. Why even bother to practice?

  • sometimes they even sang different words to the songs, because nobody could hear them really

  • George was sick in a flu/cold therefor the bad songperformance by him. At least he didn't let the crowd down. What a guy George was.

  • its;s a 12 string guitar!!!!!!!!!!

  • I really like this song & I need you , harrison had really good songs especially on abbey road & revolver

  • Not the best quality? ah!

    Anyway... It's George. ^^

    Squee! 2:02

scream with those japanese girls...!!! ahhhh! (xD!)
