  • This all came back to me when I went to see The Nuckcracker Suite ballet. There were the girls in their tutus on tiptoes and all I could think of was a chocolate bar. I have been conditioned by advertising.

  • i have a underground 80;s vending machine with full batch of 25 year old bars keep them frozen to preserve them

  • They've come a long way from this to drumming Gorillas, still like this though cos it takes me back in time.

  • 22 Instruments played the background music. Just sayin'.

  • nutritious.. lol My arse!!

  • @eorthen - It's true fruit and nuts are good for you and chocolate has antioxidant properties.

  • @eorthen It's got one of your Five A Day! LOL :)

  • @pufferfishish just like the chocolate orangee!

  • I'm 37 and can remember this like it was yesterday.

  • 0:21 fakest chocolate bar ever

  • this is like the wicker man =[

  • im 53 and remember it as well , and yes the 70s were special... great to see the old ads.. thank you...

  • One of my favourite ad tunes that always has been and forever will be firmly embedded into the back of my head lol

    Love it !

  • @WikkiDGamer You know it !

  • OMG I remember this

  • I remember liking the music on this advert was I was about six years old, thirty years ago! I think it's from The Nutcracker Suite if I'm not mistaken.

  • Happy days.Frank Muir...

  • Good grief, Frank Muir!

  • everyones a ffruit n nut case love it ...

  • The guy carrying the log looks like he should have put the chocolate down and picked up a bar of soap instead

  • @Gettinbuzz and a razor lol

  • I notice back then the wrapper is vertical and not horizontal.

  • Every so often a CLASSic Ad is made, this is one. Todays crop, (Aleksander the Meerkat excepted), are pretty poor compared to this. A test? Ask anyone over 30 to sing the tune!

  • Everyone's a Kraft Fruit & Nut case.

  • Or it's also called Dance of the Mirlitons.

  • Are they? hmmm..

  • Im glad I missed this crud

  • Damn, that takes me back, nice one!

  • ahh for a simplier time

  • Classy advert and one of the best.

  • lol

  • I'm 39 in the New Year-and remember this being transmitted when I was 5 or 6 in 1976/77-- f***ing hell,pardon my French! lol

  • Why did I just discover these things?? They're sooo good.

  • I am 44 and remember all of the 70's, it was great.

  • haha.. i wish i was alive for some of these retro adds..

  • Was there not another advert with Terry Thomas singing?

I seemto remember another ad with the lines .. everyone's a fruit and nut case, crazy for these cadbury's combinations, what an innovation, what a combination,Cadury's fruit and nut......

    Then he says...

everyone's a fruit and nut case!!

Or is my memory playing tricks on me ...

  • Frank Muir presented Heaven TV on Channel 4, a programme about old ones like On The Buses, Please Sir, etc. He also appeared in the Milk advert promotion, something to do with 'Humphrey'. Cadbury's Fruit & Nut was the present I had on the last day at primary school in July 1990 before I was sent to special school where I developed basic skills such as communication and numeracy before being integrated into secondary school in early 1996.

  • Oops, I meant Dance of the Reed Pipes, which is also in the Nutcracker Suite.

  • What was the actual classical song used in this advert?

  • It's the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, which is part of The Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky.

  • Right!

I can find this commercial but I can't find the old Toblerone advert - the guy with the butterfly net. Where the hell is it???

    Give me Toblerone!!!!!!

  • ah that does take me back i was only a baby when it was shown but it stuck in my head for over 30yrs we were doin Dance Of The Reedpipes for Music at school and when our teacher put it on in assembly i started singing to the Fruit & Nut ad!!! bless the late Frank Muir

  • Love the music in this clip, its a great clip

  • Does anyone know where I can find the one where it's done with claymation?

  • does anyone have the fruit and nut advert that was fimed while on a steam train? it had a catchy more upbeat tune

  • fruit and nut ftw

  • I will never forgive Cadbury's for this. Even after all these years I still can't listen to Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Reedpipes without it coming to mind.

  • Its the Nutcracker Suite not the dance of the reedpipes!

  • fraserkatie - Thank you for your message. However I feel obliged to correct you on your apparent assumption that this piece is called the Nutcracker Suite. The Nutcracker Suite is made up of around 18 different pieces of music, perhaps the best known being Waltz of the Flowers and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. This piece, which is played in act II of the ballet is usually, but not always, called Dance of the Reedpipes.

  • well, you sure told her

  • I commend you on your polite and informative reply/correction. It is a breath of fresh air to read an intelligent correction to a post instead of the usual "LOL U R GHEY" garbage that we usually see.

    +1 to you!

  • GuzziHeroV50 - Thank you for your kind comment. No, I don't use these 'in' abbreviations, such as LOL. To be honest I don't know what most of them mean anyway. All the Best.

  • why is he wearing his sporran back to front?

  • he's a fruit and nut case.....

  • I preferred the later one with a singing choccy bar and the HUNKY CHUNKY ALMONDS!! :-)

  • been there, seen that, stuffed my face.

Cadburys. Good for the munchies and not good for spotty teenagers. Stoner teens are fuked.

  • Directed by my granddad. GENIUS!

  • who's your grandpa? my grandpa is the guy singing, frank muir

  • @dalailama64 Frank Muir was your grandpa? Wow cool!

  • YES!!

  • I absolutely loooove this song, i got in trouble in school for singing too loudly in class....lol.

  • love the dancing tree at the end

  • LOL!!!Frank Muir...My Dad LOVED these ads and used to whistle the tune while he was doing stuff around the house.

  • I only ever remember seeing this in black and white!

  • A fruit n Nut a day Helps you Toss,Punt and Conoe.

  • oh right...

  • AHH THE LATE FRANK MUIR BLESS HIM

  • aaahthis brings me back to my childhood

  • In case you didn't know, a little trivia for you. This advert was filmed in Oxford. The bridge Frank Muir punts under is Magdelene Bridge, just to the east of Oxford City Centre.

  • Thanks Steven!

  • I love the old adverts :)

  • Note to self! Must visit Cadbury World some time, they're bound to have this one in their Cadbury on TV collection!

  • Have now visited Cadbury World, it's bloody fantastic, went there today!

  • i love the teddy bear lol

  • I have wanted to see this again for twenty-odd years - thank you so much for posting it.

  • I want some Fruit & Nut now. Dammit!

  • classic, they don't make adverts like they use too, today it's all ads for,car insurance, compensation claims, and money loans.

  • I didn't know Peter Jackson was a scottish log thrower!

  • Whoops, I made a spelling mistake here, I meant it was the Nutcracker, and Frank Muir is great in this clip singing it!

  • Love the music in this clip, its a great clip, and the music is the Nutracker if you didnt know already!
