@maestro4202 most likely, thought it will probably take some time and most likely there will be real time path-tracing engines before we can use full fledged voxel engines.
@Minecraftman001 , just glance at the full description for the video! This is a demonstration of software that MCeperoG is developing, which uses voxels. Minecraft also uses voxels, but that's the only similarity. As you can see, this video is tagged with "voxel", so naturally it would have matched that part of your search terms. Does YouTube have any "search only for both terms together" options?
By the way, it looks beautiful. I am officially fascinated with this project. <3
stupidly? try putting different textures on voxels so that it looks like minecraft!
And do't forget there are more entities than blocks: ladders, stairs, plants ...
to realize them with voxels you need smaller voxels. But rendering the bigger ,c- blocks with small voxels is wasted computing power, ergo polygon rendering is best for mc.
@marclarell Ladders, plants and stairs are rendered differently ingame but they are still counted as blocks. E.g. plants use a pair of the same sprites to form an x shape, making it look 3d. The stair block counts as a block ingame but renders two blocks. Ladders are just a sprite on the back inside part of a block, using the rest of the invisible block to detect collision and to allow you to climb up.
The only use of voxels in the game are when you actually hold an item. Nowhere else.
@MaggotsInDisguise the game world is stored in a 3d array (table) and is therefore a point cloud where each point represent the position vector of each block which is what some people consider voxels.
Looks like hemp.

Voxel technology is cool, I wonder how much of it it would take to effectively crash my PC. :V
I can't wait until someone makes a voxel-focused console.
