Rubbish. Even by her account of the story, the officer told her to get back in her car, and she did not - this is disobeying a direct order from a police officer, which is an arrestable offence. Once informed she was under arrest, she tried to get back in the car to comply with the original request to avoid being arrested. You can't do that, once you're under arrest, there's no taking it back. Getting back in her car indicated she may have intended to flee.

If you get pulled over for something, provide your license and registration. Don't get out of the vehicle unless asked to do so as this is seen as a threat and they would be idiots not to protect themselves.
When the officer comes back to the car he/she will either issue a ticket or send you on your way. If you disagree with the ticket, go to court and fight the ticket.

Cops don't have to obey criminals. But lawbreakers have to obey cops. She had NO RIGHT to ask for the evidence tape. That's supposed to only be used in court trial. Her asking for the tape is a verbal form of resisting. When a suspect attempts to resist arrest, a police officer DOES have the authority to use their taser. He maybe over reacted, but he did have the authority to do what he did.

He was suspended without pay for 30 days, pulled off the street for a year, re-trained and then only allowed back on the street with someone to watch him and make sure he didn't over-react again. The Sheriff even tried to get him to resign. Harmon (the woman) received $75000.00 and had all her charges dropped. Obviously, Andrews was in the wrong.

I realize this lady experienced trauma - but $75,000 for this seems like a ridiculously large amount. The important thing is the police officer. We sue for everything - some valid - some not so valid. We are in serious trouble as a country - wars, economy, addictions to everything from drugs to food to gambling - it's amazing. 30% of our country is obese, 15% addicted to drugs/alcohol - and so on. Think about the numbers of people affected and the money we throw at these problems. SCARY!

If she was awarded$75K I'd wager something like 1/2 of that went to the court fees (lawyers and general fees) Plus a sum for the medical/therapy stuff which would have to be officially done to "prove" trauma in court. We really have no way of knowing how much money whis woman actually walked away with.

Cops don't have to obey criminals. But lawbreakers have to obey cops. She had NO RIGHT to ask for the evidence tape. That's supposed to only be used in court trial. Her asking for the tape is a verbal form of resisting. When a suspect attempts to resist arrest, a police officer DOES have the authority to use their taser. He maybe over reacted, but he did have the authority to do what he did.

@gallai1 She was no threat at all. She was just upset because he was being so unreasonable. Andrews (the cop) clearly over-reacted. He paid for it too. He was suspended without pay for 30 days, pulled off the street for a year, re-trained and then only allowed back on the street with someone to watch him and make sure he didn't over-react again. The Sheriff even tried to get him to resign. Harmon (the woman) received $75000.00 and had all her charges dropped. Obviously, Andrews was in the wrong.

@gallai1 Go through the academy and then talk to me. You have no idea what cops are trained to do at all obviously. The woman posed a threat by stepping out of the car when she wasn't supposed to. Anyone knows not to do that. Then when asked several times to get back in her car she refused. The cop then told her she was under arrest and she darted to her car. THAT is where he draws a taser and tries to puller her out. She resisted arrest and could have pulled a gun from her car. Get over it.
