You definitely suck!!! I watched your landing this time and you CRASHED! not only once but multiple times, hell one time you couldn't even get it on the deck...
The harrier would be a slice of cake compared to this thing. Far more user friendly unlike the pogo. it's the transition from flight to landing that's the killer. not to mention lack of visibility.
When I was a child I saw the real thing fly. Back then everyone wanted to have a VTOL aircraft. Many different methods were tried. Some had vertically mounted jet engines, some hand turbines with counter rotating props. Honestly, most were flying death traps and the men who flew them should have been recognized as the heros they truly were. Their tests (and deaths) paid off. Look at what we have now.
I came to this video while trying to make a Lost in Space tribute video for my 50 yr old brother, & saw this video for the “Pogo.” Pardon my ignorance, but this isn't just some 3D rendering you've done, right? This simulator actually acts like the actual aircraft, doesn't it? Am I right in assuming that this is why it actually acts like a real aircraft -- utilizing your control in the simulated cockpit against real physics & the abilities of the craft?
@cjellwood This is a flyable add-on I made for the old MS Flight Simulator game. I used one air file for the take-off/landing and another one for cruise flight.
I always thought of this aircraft as one of the most poorly concived designes. It just seems like a bad idea from the start. It's amazing it ever actually flew.
Great, I can remember building a model (non-flying) of this plane when I was about 11.
Wonderful job with this sim crreation. I suspect the nose-heavy characteristics did nothing to help the landing problems. In fact, I don't know if a succssful tail-first landing was ever made. I remember seeing it in a frame with wheels to permit regular landings, though.
The engine start in this simulation will be wrong: both propeller must start to rotate at a time because they were geared. If not doing so, propeller torque cannot be compensated, and the whole aircraft will commence to counterrotate over his four castor tiny wheels!
AMAZING THOUGH, this aircrafts even older than the 50s. nikola tesla made the first VTOL aircraft in human history, everyone look it up, he has a patent on the craft! leads to this aircraft, ufo technology, secret aircraft! poor tesla!
what? you again..lol

Keep practicing your landing.lol

even the harrier is a bitch to land, this would probably kill you :))
what is the song used in the video?

@glady91 Think the music is the default YouTube muzak.

@glady91 -- This thing actually flew. But it WAS difficult to land. A friend of our family was the test pilot.

you suck man! The take off is the easy part. Where's the landing?

@avangel1 The landing is at 4:27 dumbass.

@avangel1 -- here is the real one landing:

It wasn't actually a half-bad idea, I mean it was like helicopters, and this is the same principle behind the V-22 Osprey.
That time was one of CRAZY ideas anyway, kind of like asking: "and you billy bob, what would be a good idea for an airplane?"

whats that aircraft carrier scenery?

airport ship.

lol the safest combat aircraft ever, I guess the pilots who flew them were just extremely skilled with excellent training. :)

This plane is actually practical now-a-days. Computers can handle the landing sequence.

Wow! I knew the pogo was supposed to have a unbelieveable top airspeed but was it really 610 mph???

Yes it was. Crazy right?

for a prop job, yes

That is a wierd looking plane! Also thats pretty funny, worlds safest combat plane, specially when it looks so hard to land. Good Video
