Once encoded the film when played is jumpy, blury and pixelated.

Am downloading various tv serious; most scan no prob. but on several, Handbrake scans fine until it reaches last title.. then it gets stuck. this is what it says in activity window (repeatedly):

[14:49:43] dvdnav: Read Error, Expected NAV packet but none found.

Happened on last three discs from Seinfeld Vol 7. Obviously, if not scanned, it can't be encoded. Any way to skip most of titles in a scan and just have it scan the ones i actually want, which are the episodes and not the "extras"?

Ive been using handbreak for the last few days, could help me with one more thing. Movies are working great, but with box sets (for example the Simpsons) it puts all of the episodes in one file. Is the a way to make each episode a diffrent file. TY again, *cough* shame your a villa supporter *cough* NEWCASTLE FTW

lol. When I used Handbrake to do a series I had to select each 30 mins individually instead of all in one file. It may be different for different box sets but you should be able to choose them separately. When you select the DVD choose the file with the timecode around 30 mins. Oh one question, is there any way to have a mp4, avi, ect (previously dvd) file where the menu that would have been on the DVD still works, every piece of software ive tried misses it out?

From my experience when you convert the dvd file to a straight movie format you will always lose the menu interaction because it isn't possible in the new file type. Sorry

Don't you need a program like DvD43 to decrypt the copy write protection on DVD's. I would think without this you couldn't copy them.

hi yea i tried to convert. but it wont play or when i drag to itunes. it wont come up. it says ipod cant read. also when i press the ipod touch preset, it comes up as M4V file. and width/height shows only 480x.... nothing there. if you cant help me i would really appreciate it thank you

The M4V file should be fine. Did you use the iPod Touch preset then try and drag it into itunes? Otherwise try the other iPod preset.

It all depends on the original video. But you don't lose much with the conversion. So for a new film, say 8-10

It can vary. Sometimes it can take up to twice as long. So in your case 4hrs.

Yes new films on DVDs have tighter copyright than they used to so Handbrake will not do everything in that aspect as many other software will also struggle.

Hey thanks 4 the reply. I used Handbrake n PS3 Video 9.

File 181MB

Convert Time

H/Brake - 12 Mins

Video 9 - 16 Mins

Output File Size

H/Brake - 438MB

Video 9 - 362MB

Overall: Quality was both the same in my opinion even tho file sizes r diffrent. H/B was quicker n ad free. Video 9 doesn't hav pop ups but ads in the prgram window an can get bit confusin on where 2 click as ads blend in well. Video 9, I changed to opt performance n H/B was preset yet 9 was still smaller in file size

All in all I prefer Handbrake as it's settings are already preset (which I was after) and no ads. Just the file turns out twice as big as the original file, so if ur stuck for room on the PS3 it maybe a bit of a downfall. As stated below I installed a 500GB HDD (400GB Usuable) Yet I still want to keep the file size to mininum as possible.

Well just an update, used Handbrake but set the file output size to 200MB and it still turned out great. So Handbrake all the way.

Now the program on ur vid had a PS3 settin. Does that hav a preset settin with oprimal performance for the PS3??

As in, does it convert it the best way for the PS3? I've got convertin programs but u manually need 2 choose settins n I don't kno wats best 2 use for PS3.

Hi

When you select the PS3 preset it will automatically adjust the settings that I presume is the best for the PS3. It will change the resolution and format to fit the PS3. Hopefully that helps, let me know if it works for you.

The Archos 5 resolution is 800 x 480. Anyone should work so I recommend using the iPhone format. Try that and see how it comes out and let us know. Thanks!
