All good actons by Freemasons are done a lot of times in secret and in our reallity TV world this is not the norm. how can people do good thing only because they are in front of a camera. We no l;onger seem to go on great quest just because there is a need and we are not looking for some kind of reward.
Masons are sworn to secrecy just as military, government, religious, political, medical, and corporate leaders are sworn to secrecy. My uncle worked at coca cola and he has to take an oath when he became a director of operations.
Freemasonry is greatly responsible for the freedom of america....show some appreciation.
@jbthegrinder The only flip side is that you get out of it what you put in. If you become a Freemason and then are not active you will get little out of it and Freemasonry will not benefit. So it take s some effort :)
US Service members swear to secrecy. US Presidents and many GOV jobs require you to do that. This does not mean they are all bad. Its just a formality to make sure you dont go around running your mouth. Talk only about official business with people who are worthy and trusted. Like Fellow Masons in this case.
Does the Red Cross or the Salvation Army or even the Scientologists make you swear a secrecy oath?
They say they work for good, that shouldn't require a person to swear to silence, so what's the deal? What could warrant the need for a secrecy oath..I havn't heard an explanation that holds water.
@TankSombrero It isn't that you are sworn to silence you are just promising to not expose any of the "secrets." I believe it was Benjamin Franklin that said "the biggest secret about Freemasonry is that there are no secrets." That is far more true now with google and the history channel. So I personally cannot expose the rituals or the handshakes, but google already has. The boy scouts make you take an oath too btw.
