To anyone complaining Hogan wasn't the first to slam Andre, been reading up on your Meltzer lol? Well here's one for you Hogan slammed Andre back in his NWA days and then in 1980 wwf, and Andre had been pinned before. Of course there was no internet back then. Some get angry over being lied to? (lol) in pro wrestling of all things, but regardless 90,000 + packed the silverdome to see Hogan vs Andre.
hogan is still the man. like the guy says above at 54 lifting 500 pounds is impressive. and the giant didn't jump or nothing it was all power, hogan has given his body (along with other guys) to this sport and will always be the reason i started lifting weights now my bodysfalling apart from 20 years of lifting, but it's worth it.lol
@Suriel1981 Yeah 35 yrs of slamming 400 pounders can eventually add up in damage! Hogan, the god of wrestling, not the icon, not the legand but the god.Second to none and will always make a frenzy out of the crowds around the world!
@RMilvae Didn't WWF give Big Show a guaranteed $1 million-a-year contract? It probably seemed like a good deal to him, especially as WWF had been pulling ahead in the ratings.
Hogan has nothing left of his Flair, that he had 25 Years ago. He moves like a slow Mummy. It looks like both of them hold each other for not falling asleep.
Ric Flair is the true wrestling great. Hulk is an asshole, and has zero moves. This match shows how tired his matches are. A bear hug "rest hold" that lasts like 3 minutes, 2 guys that just have no stamina.
@bwrpwr with out hogan all you mark aka hogan haters would have not have a wretling business to critise in the first place because hogan saved wretling in the 80s, early 90s, mid 90s, and now with the new tna movement. and hogan told dixie to give that old dinosaur ric flair a job to pay off his owed tax money to the govt and pay for all of his wives and kids. so know your role and stick it.
@domamania Hulk didn't save squat. Vince McMahon did if anyone deserves credit. He could have slapped the gimmick on anyone and it would have took off. Flair may not know how to manage his money but his promos, and talent are so far beyond anything in Terry's ability range that it's not even a fair contest. Of course I am not a true Flair guy, I just recognize the legend that deserves it. For all time best PERIOD, you have to look no farther than Shawn Michaels.
@bwrpwr well you could a character on anyone yes but its the person him self who makes the character work. i am an actor and some roles fit me and some roles dont. same with wrestlers. also you fail to realize hulk hogan blood, promo skills, and chraisma built titan towers aka wwe headquearters. yes micheals was good no dought but it was not he that put wrestling on the map it was hogan. and it was not vince jr the made the hulk character it was vince sr, terry bollea and verne gangna, thanks.
@domamania According to all I've read, including Hogan's own book, it was Vince Jr who made the character. He wanted him to be the Irish wrestler and have red hair, but Hulk couldn't dye it without losing it fast so they kept it blonde.
@bwrpwr no re read it again it was in 1979 when terry bolleas aquired the name hulk hogan chracter. and in 1979 vince mcmahon sr was still in full control of the then wwf. yes it is true what you said about the hair die but you have the wrong mamahon is was the father vince not son vince.
@bwrpwr no it wasnt it was vince sr. he is the one who gave it hogan in is first madison aquare garden match in 1979 with ted dibiasi sr. and i remember hulk hogan flushed the dye down the toilet .
You would think after all these years that a guy who punches Hogan, and then he "Hulks Up", that they would just walk out of the ring. Then Hogan would just be stuck "Hulkin Up" until somebody asked him politely to leave the ring
yes his spine has been fut through hell. I f you look closely he does'nt land 100% on his ass, he sort of leans back and lets his side take it, he used to land right on his ass.
If you think about it, falling on your ass must hurt like Hell if you do it all the time. I'm surprised a guy of his size has chosen that for finisher.
You know I did a legdrop, like how he did in the 80s, that running legdrop..., well I did it on two king-sized matresses stacked on each other, when i legdropped the matress, and landed on my ass, I felt my back take alot of stress, I mean it hurt pretty good ,AND I DID IT ON 2 MATRESSES? My theory is when me and Hogan...that sounded cool, anyway lol, do our legdrops we have a habit of straightening out our backs, and that is a mistake, infact you have to land like hogan in this video.
He is an important part of it, but if he was bigger than the business itself, they would've drawn more than 2200 people. That isn't a knock on the show or Hogan, just stating a fact.
Wow good memories! I was at the show 4th row ringside. It was a cool show! This show also featured Abdulah the Butcher, Koko B Ware, Buff Bagwell, Ricky Morton, Brutus Beefcake, Greg Valentine, and more
Everybody knows this should've been on the card for Wrestlemania 23. Hulk and Vince had another falling out and the Big Show wanted to take time away to heal from nagging injuries and lose some weight. This would've been great to have had at wrestlemania and I'm happy they did this match though
Actually, Austin would still be wrestling today if it wasn't for his neck injury he suffered in 97, so he didn't know "when to retire" like you claim.
I'll admit, I was surprised when Hogan slammed Show. Sure, the guy getting slammed jumps in the air for it, but it's still impressive that Hogan had the strength to hold Show's weight for a second there. Sucks that people keep jobbing to the Hulkster though, Hulk should just stay retired. He's cool and all, but it's not helping anyone's legacy/careers. All about the money, of course...
oooh yeah brother hulk rules dudes shout out to all the hulkamaniacs out there....train, say your prayers and eat your vitamins....oh yeah and i would love Brooke Hogan to buff my balls too hahahahahahha
I don't think there are too many people in WWE right now that could bodyslam the Big Show because you very seldom see it. Surprised Hogan still has his strength.
listen everyone in the wrestling bizz is crooked .. everyone but when it comes down to giving the fans what they want what this company . what wrestling is today. and who is the best noone is above hogan everyone will say it .. they all do he is the man who made it and is it . when you say wrestling you say hogan .. no matter what.
in an interview Hulk Hogan said wen he did that he ruined his back forever....even till this day it gives him problems..but he said it was all worth it because of that body slam his career sky rocketted
Well...this might as well be 1986. I mean all it needs is Adrian Adonis or Mr Wonderfull and Bundy to run in and it would be perfect. Or maybe Fuji could come down and throw some powdwe in the Hulksters face. Remember that one? My favourite was always Heenan vs Matilda
This was Hulk Hogan's last wrestling match to date, I also think Hulk Hogan will not step back in the ring ever again, I have heard rumours that Hulk Hogan wants Steve Austin at next year's Wrestlemania, however I can't see Austin going for it.
I don't know man. If the money is right and the opponent and promotion is done correctly, I'm sure we'll see Hollywood back in the ring. I just hope he sorts his problems out and gets back in the ring a few more times before he calls it quits for certain.
excuse me people hulk hogan was born in 1953 that means he is only 55 years old which means back in the 80's he was a mere 29 years old when he faced the iron shiek in jan 1984
The reason I watch this is because I admire big guys like that moving around the ring like lightweights. I know way to well that it is a entertainment "soap opera" I've been watching wrestling now for 30 years.
It was a nice body slam! I doubt Floyd Mayweather can pick up the Big Show. Legends such as Flair and Hogan can retire whenever they want and other legends there is no WWE, TNA, Wrestlemania,etc..
I'm not a huge Hogan fan, but a 56 year old man picking up and slamming 500 lbs. might be as impressive today as it was when he did it as a much younger man in his mid-late 30s when he did it to Andre the Giant in the 80s. I say 500 pounds because this was back before Wight lost all that weight.
I agree with you Hulk Hogan is amazing, no doubt about it, but being the greatest ever, that's debatable. Also consider Ric Flair's career for instance.
Hulk has been around since the beginning and he deserves to be respected... When I say the beginning I don't mean like Gorgeous George, Lou Thez or Frank Gotch beginning. I mean what so many of you know as Sports Entertainment beginning and he's one of the stars that put it on the map. So for anyone to degrade the things him and some of the veterans accomplished in the past is just dispicable. PunisheR
People love dissing Hogan but what amazes me is that on his heels modern wrestling was born. Wrestling would of survived but Hogan made the difference, and Vince was the man to exploit it. All of wrestling is the same old shit, as it ever was.
That is one of the thing why he had that back injured...

PunisheR

so this is what happened to big show (wight). didnt these guys have better matches 12 years ago? wight did a great job trying to sell that loss.

People love dissing Hogan but what amazes me is that on his heels modern wrestling was born. Wrestling would of survived but Hogan made the difference, and Vince was the man to exploit it. All of wrestling is the same old shit, as it ever was.

Hogan might be slower than he was 20 years ago... but he´s still strong as hell.
